Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a complete copy of Super Mario World (I like all my games complete), and it seems impossible to find one. Did Nintendo ever release this game as a boxed item, or was it only released packaged with the SNES, in which case, it was not boxed.

Anyone know?

It was released in your bog-standard boxed version. I'm surprised you're having trouble finding it. I think it is pretty common. Ok, maybe you won't find it mint, but you'll find it.

That box is the Player's Choice... was there a box before it reached that status?

There are 72 levels with 96 exits. The number on the title screen CANNOT go past *96. Even if you use a game genie code to enter Koopa's Front Door/Back Door and exit w/ Start and Select (Which will count them as completed goals), it still stays at *96.

I've been working on my hack for such a long time now, I happen to know SMW inside and out LOL

Some levels have multiple exits. To 100% complete it you need to go through all 96 exits. You know when you've done this because the title screen goes pink.

Actually, the title screen stays the same. The only thing that happens is the *96 on the title screen. Of course if you beat the special world, then the world turns into the ugly color scheme.

Non million seller SMW does exist complete, and about a year ago in a thread it was mentioned that it normally goes for about $100. I found one and posted it (ha ha $100 SMW), and some collector came on saying he was looking terribly but could never get one and that seemed to be the going rate.

Also another game that exists complete is Super Mario All-Stars (or maybe All-Stars / World), but I only saw it once ever for sale. I put all kinds of searches on my favorites with emails and never got an email. I am pretty sure that both of them exist.

Not if you ditch Yoshi to the bottomless pit to use him as a jumping platform :devilish:

100 bucks? Honestly?

Then I got a pretty good deal,

This was also around christmas. Apparrently the collector had let several go in the months prior, and lost this one with the final bid price being 102.50 + s/h.

That fly under the flag on the chainsaw level was extremely hard, I agree.

Well, it doesn't look like the Player's Choice version on the pic, but I'm happy even if it is, 'cause I've been wanting this game complete for some time now.

So, should I just grab a loose copy, or hold out for complete? (I'm not interested in spending 100 bucks)

If you like the game for playing, hell ya! The game is awesome. If collecting, then not unless you can get a cart for under $10 I'd say.

Jibbajaba: Yeah I noticed that, but I'll just have to wait and see if it's the Player's Choice version or not, either way I'm just happy to have it complete.

I have a complete copy of SMW PAL release. It got a red box. Its not players choice. Dont know how rare it compared to the US release.

Red box? Isn't that the Classic Version release?

Pretty sure the red PAL one is a re-issue.

The original looks like this:

The original looks like this:

No, im pretty sure its no re-release. Atleast it have no marks or stickers on it that indicates it.
Here are 2 pics.
The box is both in english and in french. It also have a Bandai mark on the back with the text "Distributed by Bandai / Distributé par Bandai"
I dont know where it was released, but what I've heard the red box is much harder to find than the yellow box anagrama showed.

If anyone have more info on this I would like to know :)

I've got the instruction booklet, but I surmise that those would be fairly common if they were included with the pack-in version (and they were, right?).

Yes, the instructions were included with the SNES.

I don't know if you guys are joking or not, but I got My SNES on November 29th, 1991 and it came with SMW as the packin. The game was boxed (non-million seller, obviously) like a standard SNES release. That was how the SNES was originally sold for (I'm guessing) a loooong time, so I find it very hard to believe that the non-million seller SMW box could be anything but very common.

Both definitely exist in non-million seller (I have sealed copies of each) and also million seller. I can scan the boxes sometime if anybody cares.

I think 100 US on a complete is too much, I've seen two sealed copies (including the one I bought) go for less than that. I'd say 50(?) on a complete, but I'm guessing here as I don't collect completes.

The non-million seller SMW is surprisingly tough as a sealed game though, that much is true. Whether or not that carries over to completes I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me.
