I have the first prototype Super Gameboy. I'm pretty sure it is the only one on earth. I'm thinking about putting it on ebay....does anyone have an idea what it might be worth?
Thanks in advance!

Wow that thing is a beast! Reminds me of the Powerbase Converter for the Genesis. I hope you do well by it's sale.
Just a thought, but since this is in reference to ebay-auction shouldn't it be in that forum?

Since you are just asking for a price and have stated you are putting it up on ebay, I am going to move this to Video Gaming for more exposure.
When you end up putting it on ebay, please make a thread in the Everything Ebay forum for it so we can all drool ;)

Ebay will probably cancel this auction since it is a proto. sometimes they won't catch it if worded correctly though. Please send us the link when you do post though!

Awesome!
If you want cash for this then i think the über Snes collector Cruzway (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=5074) is your best bet!

It looks very similar to the gameboy cartridge writers that they use to write ROMS for testing purposes. Are you sure it's a prototype, and not a dev system?

Actually, it looks like this is a proto for the Super Game Boy 2 (Import Only)
Note the "ver 2" label, and the link port. The link port was only available on the SGB2

List it on ebay, but also post about it in the ebay sales section of the ASSEMblergames forums.

There are people over there who are both *very* interested in dev equipment and they have lots of cash. You'll want that community watching your auction.

That is far too large to be a SuperGameboy, or even a Supergameboy 2. That thing is huge! It's bigger than the original Gameboy. My bet is going to a debug unit. probably used to test carts on a TV instead of the gameboy's tiny screen. Definately not for the US, the cartridge base is curved like a Super Famicom.

Do you have any proof that it's a proto?
What does the text on the top say?

How exactly does one prove that they have a prototype? Its not as if these things are signed or come with certificates

Do you have a way of taking screenshots of it in action? I don't know if there would be any region lock on it or not. I'd be curious to see if the interface is any different from the released SGB. I'd also hope you'd do it before selling it, if possible, just in case the buyer isn't willing or capable to do so. With something as unique as this, I'd hope we gather as much information as possible about it.

Lol, prototypessss
More like dev units, right? Still not common, still worth money to the right people...but I don't see any reason to think it's a one-of-a-kind. I imagine third party developers would need a few of these to develop SGB compatible titles, and surely Nintendo had a bunch for their own efforts. That doesn't take away from the coolness or rarity, though!

True, but to my knowlage the big N was pretty tight about the security of such things around then. I would guess there are about 5 or so of these things floating around.
And yea, pics of the thing in action would be great.

Hmm...well here's one question: How many companies made SGB compatible Game Boy games? I have a hard time believing that you could get by with just one of these for a company.
I don't doubt there aren't many of them, but if there were only five then none would likely have made it out into the open. Just a thought.
