I remember seeing pics in an EGM, way, way back during the 16-bit generation, of a portable SNES that Nintendo was working on. It looked kind of like a laptop, if I remember correctly. That is, it was a small laptop sized clam shell thing that opened up, had a rather large LCD screen and a cartridge slot with a SNES cart in it.

I know there are people here with large EGM collections. Does anybody have scans or pics of it? You've gotta wonder where that puppy ended up. Hopefully it sees the light of day on Ebay.

I have vague memories of this also. And I do have a huge EGM collection, but I have no idea where to start looking!

I probably have a picture of it buried somewhere. I believe it was being made by bandai.

Well, I would say somewhere in the middle of the SNES generation of dates as it wouldn't be developed at the very beginning of the SNES's life as Nintendo is just getting the non-portable console released, and not at the end of the SNES's life because that was when Nintendo was hyping their Project Reality, Ultra 64, N64, or whatever they ended up calling it ;)

Was it official or pirate? I was under the impression that it was official. Please see if you can post a high-quality scan because that is at least a start in getting it to show up on Ebay.

well, i believe the stamper brothers (rare) actually made one that impressed nintendo, but i dunno if nintendo actually went and tried to make a unit themselves. btw, bandai doesn't make "pirate" products, so if a unit was to come from them, it would have to have been licensed by nintendo. or at least the company had to have some sort of OK to manufacture such an item...

the system would have measured in at roughly 14 inches wide, 9 inches deep and most likely 4 to 5 inches thick....the power comsumption combined with the screen would have made for a Ni-Im..or something like that...it wouldnt have used Li-I...would have made it an expensive console.....probabaly was to be released 94/95 but after the failure of the pippin and playdia not to mention the dual cartridge for the super famicom, bandai quickly buried this bad-boy
