since i got screwed and couldn't find a greatest hits version of SH2 the night before SH3 launched (i only rented it, and i needed to make sure i had the right stuff acomplished to unlock the extra scenes in the third) so i've never been able to play the maria/mary scenario.
should i buy the GH version of the ps2 title, or just go with the x-box one? i've heard there isn't a grain filter in the x-box version, and they changed a few enemy designs. opinions?

I think the X-box version supposedly has some slowdown or something. I donno, I played it and didn't experience any. The greatest hits PS2 version is the same as the X-box version. I would pick up the X-box version personally because I like the HD save system.

Xbox version= PS2 GH version pretty much
Don't worry about the slowdown, it's not that bad imho

Whenever I usually have to decide between a system that's on multiple platforms I always seem to go with Xbox. What you're getting with SH2 is basically the same on both consoles, so pick it up for whatever system you like collecting for more. Personally, I don't remember any slowdown while playing the xbox version.
Ahh...such a great series, I need to replay them soon enough ;D.

Have you considered the Director's Cut 2-Disc special for the PS2? It's quite nice - though I don't know what extras it contains in the main game (if any).

I played the Xbox version and didn't experience any slowdown at all. I don't remember if it had a grain filter or not, but I seem to recall that it did. I know it did on the cutscenes. I don't know what's in the PS2 director's cut, but between the regular versions, I'd go for the Xbox due to the extra content.

This FAQ (http://faqs.ign.com/articles/401/401262p1.html) describes the Making Of bonus disc included in the Director's Cut.
I think the Director's Cut has some in-game bonuses - such as an extra ending, too.

the director's cut was a EU only name, its basically the american equivalent to "greatest hits"
