When I put my MAME cabinet together I used a PC monitor, because I could get a big one for really cheap, and it easily works with the PC, obviously.

But as we know, the picture looks too sharp in most games. I long for that semi-blurred R G B arcade monitor feel. I know that there is emulation within mame32 to make that kind of picture... but it doesn't seem quite right.

Anybody know what settings work best to emulate that arcade monitor? Is this a hopeless quest?

I think if you use the "stretch using hardware" option and add in some scan lines it looks almost identical to an arcade monitor. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Yeah, I've always had "stretch using hardware" on. 4:3 ratio... that's the default in Mame32. As for the scanlines, I'm not so hot on them. The "RGB Triad of 3 pixels" in Mame32 really looks pretty good.

Is there any way to turn this on in MAME? My cabinet runs on MameWah, which (I think!) only works with regular Mame.exe.

And second question: Does MameWah ever work with Mame32?
