OK, I just won a Japanese PSP off Ebay. Now when I plug it into my american outlet, will it start to get hot. I know from experience that some do and some don't. My japanese PS2 doesn't, but my Japanese Duo and PS1 both do.
Also, I have a backup American PSP AC adaptor at my grandparents' house. Will that work with the japanese PSP?

Dude, that thing is going to fucking explode, you need a converter. I'm sure Play-Asia.com or Lik-Sang.com have them. Dont plug that thing into a wall until you do get one.
220v to 110v Stepdown Converter (20W) US $4.99

OK, found the answer about the getting hot thing, the system FAQ says that the plug runs at 100V to 240V, rendering stepdown converters unnecessary, but I'd still like to know if I can use my extra US plug on it or if I need an dextra japanese plug.

I don't have a PSP - Japanese or otherwise, but electronics are marked for thier power requirements. The adapter should ahve two things on it - the range of the input, and the range of the output. The output will be shown as something like "DC 6v, 300mA" and also show the + - polarity of the plug. If both the JP and US plugs show the same output stats, and I am assuming they do, you are golden.

I carry USB power chargers for the PSP, charge any system, anywhere, from any usb port. 3 Hour charge time:

The transformer part of the PSP charger is multivoltage, running from 100 to 240V. You just need to plug in a figure 8 cable (the one from your PS2 should be fine) into it to connect it to the wall.
I use my spare PS1 cable to charge the US PSP I got...
