I know this seems really dumb. But can someone PLEEEEEEASE help me out or provide a link to a page that can. Today I bought a Sega CD/Genesis. But I cant get it to work this is how I have it set up I think I may be missing a cord. But anyway

On the Genesis Console:
I have the AC adapter going from electrical outlet to Genesis.
Then I have the AVout cable going from the Genesis to the RF Jack in the back of the TV.

On the Sega CD Console:
I have the AC adapter going from electrical outlet to the Sega CD.

Now heres the question.
A.) The "mixing" port on the back of the Sega CD I dont have that cable. What is the "mixing" port/cable used for? Do I need that? If so is there a site I can do so? Or does anyone here have one for sale or trade.

B.) The "Line Out" Left/Right do I NEED the RCA cables pluged in? Or is that just for sound? (I do have RCA cables somplace in my room im looking for them now.)

A big Thank You! in advance for any help or information given.

Have you used a SegaCD before? Plug in both AC adpaters, and turn the Genny on with no game cart in it. If the SegaCD unit does not boot up, it's broken. There is a fuse inside the SegaCD unit which blows regularly.

Check out this Knowledge Base article for a link to instructions on how to replace the fuse:

I believe all you need on the sega cd is the power hooked up. That's all that's hooked up on mine. Just make sure it's tightly snapped into the genesis system and that it's not dirty, and give it another go. When I got mine, it was so dirty it wouldn't even spin a cd or anything.

I figured out what was wrong. The AC adapter that came with the console wasnt a sega one so I switched it with a spare sega AC adapter and now it works! Thank goodness I was geting pissed. But thank you for reading my post and taking the time to help me out. Now im going to play my sega cd. Thanks again!

Not sure about this, but the mixing port was to connect to the headphone jack on the original Genesis...?

Yes, you connected the mixing lead from the MD's heaphone port to the back of the MCD mark 1, allowing you to use the stereo RCA outputs. That little sliding clip on the side of the MCD 1 is to hold the mixing lead in place when in use.

Edit: Didn't explain that very well - for some reason with a Mark 1 MD only you need the mixing cable to carry the sound generated by the MD around to the MCD, so it can be output via the RCA jacks - I think if you don't use it you'll only get CD audio, and not the generated sounds. You don't need the mixing lead if you're running a MK1 on an RF lead, or using a Mark 2 MD.

Yo

On the model 1 genesis the only stereo output is on the front headphone jack. There is only mono on the AV and the BUS.

The model 2 has the stereo available on both the BUS and the AV. But the sound coming from a CD is not as good when looped back into the AV. So connecting your audio to the RCA jacks on the CD unit will sound better.
