OK, I've always stuck up for this/these channels. But that's it, I'm done. This was the absolute biggest piece of shit I've ever seen on TV, period. And I LIKE hot videogame women. THAT wasn't the problem. 3 people in their basement could have done a MUCH better job of this using their parent's camcorder and a boombox from wal-mart.

Never heard of it till you mentioned it.

Which girls were featured and why was it so bad?

I liked how they showed Christie's butt uncensored. Otherwise, the show was shit. Except for that part with the boxer chick. She's hot, and she said she plays with herself 8-) But everything else was shit.

A friend of mine desperatly wanted me to tape this for him because he wasn't going to be home to watch it. You can probably guess why...

I happened to catch the first five or so minutes of it and then promptly turned it off.

Hey, as I said, I'm all for hot naked videogame chicks, I know a lot of people aren't, and that's fine too, but this show was just VERY VERY Stupid. I would explain more of what was wrong with it, but EVERYTHING was wrong with it. there was probly 15 minutes of total airtime, and out of that, maybe 3 minutes of that was videogame footage.

And Death by Degrees? Should a videogame have to not totally suck ass in order for it to be considered good?
And while we're on the subject of christie's ass, lara croft gets the "best booty" award?

Other than DOA, and soul calibur, I think every game on the show was a HORRIBLE game, most with subpar graphics. now I know the show isn't exactly about gameplay, but ANY game can throw a hot girl in there, but if she plays stupid/badly, and has.... I dunno, low polygon counts? then she's not exactly hot. Just a REALLY crappy show, regardless of subject matter, it looked like something from the 70's.

as palmer said in john carpenter's the thing... "you gotta be f***ing kidding me!" i'm surprised G4 did a decent icons episode featuring ralph baer! OK, who used a hypno-coin on the show's writers?

i KNEW the vixens show was going to be crap (the name just reeks), but i made myself sit through the first ten minutes, which was like lethal injection. if this lasts a year, i'll slit my wrists. or maybe fly out to G4's studios and start slitting some wrists.

it's not even funny-bad... it's just BAD. i hope the people doing this show are working for free. it's like an extended x-play skit, which seems to be G4's new thing since game daily wrote that the show was the best video game review show on TV a few months back.

between this, that STUPID game school commercial with the two asshats who look like they got kicked off the brady bunch ("uh oh, hurry up- boss is comin'!") and the other junk piling up on G4 these days, i think it's time for another, smarter bunch of folks to start doing video game related shows...

LOL yup, that's the one every time i hear the AWFUL "music" and cheesy effects at the beginning, i have to hit the mute button or leave the room. i wonder how many fools call that number up after seeing that (or those other dumb) commercials that make game testing look like it's frickin' EASY to do

Ms. Pac-Man was mentioned briefly after a commercial break.

I watched the whole thing. It's definitely nowhere near quality television, but there are worse ways to waste half an hour.

I thought the "The More You Know" knockoffs were okay. The one with Summer (Outlaw Golf 2) talking about cheat codes made me crack up. And this is coming from a guy who would not miss Adam Sessler one bit if he left G4.

And yeah, that game school ad sucks, just as much as those business college/technical institute/school of whatever ads they play late at night on the local channels.

At least they got Hal Sparks to host- an ACTUAL GAMER who seems to know what he's doing/talking about. You could tell at times he knew how silly the whole idea is & was poking fun at it/himself.

that STUPID game school commercial with the two asshats who look like they got kicked off the brady bunch ("uh oh, hurry up- boss is comin'!

Wow, geelw- what did I say to you before? I feel EXACTLY the SAME WAY! 'Course, seems most of us do about that ad! They're '80s porno actor rejects playing "state of the art games" w/ GREY PS1 CONTROLLERS!!!

"Duuude, I almost got it!" HORRIBLE. Plus they run it every 10 minutes.

I completely stopped watching the godamned channel after the 500 billionth commercial about some show with some asian chick shaking ass in front of honda civics while they play rap music and car alarms go off.

Somehow a cool geeky channel with the likes of that pc fixing show with Leo and video game shit is slowly turning into MTV.

Yeah I hate that commercial too.. in fact.. I hate ALL the commercials on G4 anymore; but at least one good thing came out of techTV selling out to G4.. no late night infomercials for "Girls Gone Wild" anymore!

.. and that "car" show.. drift racing.. for chrysake.. it's an oxymoron.. not REAL racing.

Anywayz.. anybody remember HOW G4TV came about? About 7 years ago there was a daily show on cable called "the site". About PCs.. it was hosted by Soledad O'Brien and Leo Laporte.. DAMN good show it was too.. real funny at times (Anybody remember Dev Null? or Cliff Stohl?). The site was shut down and actually, essentially.. became MSNBC. Then it was re-incarnated as ZDTV (Ziff-Davis) for a couple of years; then turned into TechTV when Paul Allen bought it. Paul's not very good at much of anything really.. and lost money as well.. so he sold the station to G4 who had no major cable exposure at the time. Actually.. I think G4 is somehow tied in with the IGN network. Amazing.. what a few obscure gamers can do with their money and notoriety after 10 years or so on the web. Now thay all party with "THE STARS"; review and probably drive.. exotic cars and get to hang out and interview all the "coolest" movie "babes". Just because you started a little ho-dink website about games before it was cool.

Just remember.. if you wanna' be a star on G4 you gotta' be young.. don't comb your hair.. and wear a "Van Dyke".. unless your a woman.. of course.. SHEESH.

The only guy I can stand on the whole channel is Victor Lucas because he's the only one who doesn't seem utterly pretentious and in love with himself. Bet he'd be fun to hang out with in a tavern.

Gah, I hate every single commercial aired on G4TV, ESPECIALLY the two guys playing video games. They must not be making very up-to-date games if there are BLEEPS AND BLOOPS coming out of TV.

The day G4 dies I'm driving to thier studios with urine I'm personally taking from Leo, Yoshi, Patrick, Jessica, and the rest of the TechTV refugees and adding it to a stew I make from the dessicated remains of one of thier randomly selected tragically hip meat hosts and forcing the rest of the staff to eat it. Once they're done, the nearby restroom will be converted into a gas chamber in the inside.

And the 'Game school' ads blow my dog too, and he's been dead for over 10 years.

LMAO! I hate that commercial more then anything, but it's almost become a running joke in my household(that was until I realised it's on every 10 MINUTES!!!).

I remember being pretty excited when G4 was coming "An actual video game channel is gonna be great!" I thought.

It's amazing how wrong I was...

X-Play is still my favorite show of the station, and I know that's not saying alot.

*The 1980 Video Vixen of the Year*

I could imagine the production team for this show sitting on the floor, in a circle, (like slugs) eating fruit salad and whining to each other in their fruity, nasal tones.

Someone needs to swing by the G4 HQ and deliver a swift kick to the managements' "proverbial balls" (if they have any) and drive a wooden stake into the chest of this broadcasting travesty, immediately!

You lasted allot longer than I did. All I saw was the crappy 30 second intro with the Lara, Bloodrayne, and some other game slut posing on a stage. Then it cut to a studio where a chick was shaking her ass in the camera and some dude was scratching on turntables behind her.

That's all I needed to see before I changed the channel. What a fucking joke.

I remember Soledad co-hosting some tech show with this realtime 3D animated character that looked like an extra from that Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" video. Which one was that? Yeah, she seemed real happy doing that gig. Now she's some big hoity toity news anchor... and utterly boring. She needs to get that polygon guy back.

Yeah.. that was Dev Null. Kinda' funny.. especially since "digital characters" were a rarity back then (Only one I remember before him was Max Headroom). Dev Null was actually "live" though.. played by a guy backstage with some of those "tennis ball" thingies pasted all over his black leotard. It was obvious he had the hots for Soledad too.. as he was always throwing innuendos at her and making her frustrated. Cliff Stohl was that "mad scientist" looking dude from Berkley that would come on the show each week and just ramble on for hours on end about technology and PCs.. making not much sense at all (Too much acid in the 60's.. I guess.). He was a kick too.

I knew this show would be worthless when I learned that Hal Sparks would be hosting it. Has there ever been a more annoying prick on a show like this (or I Love the '80s, VH1's crappy take on a similar miniseries on the BBC from a few years back).

Any man that thinks he's funny because he insinuates that He-Man was gay, among other wonderful nuggets, needs to be shot.

Well.. yes & no.. when he got his start and appeared as a 'guest" on talk shows and such.. you're right.. he was live. But when he was in the television series of the same name.. he wasn't.. obviously; as the show was filmed. I can't remember the name of the actor that does his voice.. but he's gotten kinda' popular himself since then (Matt Freuher.. or something like that.).

Maybe it was a massive solar flare that cause the signal to mix up with that from MTV?

Or perhaps..

Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus?

I used to LOVE TechTV. Now, I really don't know why I watch it anymore. G4 basically assimilated it now; if you watch any of the "original programming", the G4 logo is displayed on the bottom-right instead of that electrical plug G4TechTV logo. They also had the bright idea to change The Screen Savers; it used to be great with Patrick and Leo, and when they both left I was like "eh, that's alright, they'll still be on the channel". Then they moved to LA, changed sets, and now they're Attack of the Show, a stupid hipster show for the demoscener "i'm so cool cuz I have an iPod" crowd. No real tech talk anymore. X-Play is bland and relies too much on the skits and Adam Sessler's whiny pansy-ass antics. Reviews on the Run is the only show worth watching; I like the interaction between Vic and Tommy, and even though Tommy acts like an idiot sometimes I smile and say "at least he isn't Adam Sessler". The show format is entertaining, the banter they throw back and forth is funny and they have experience in the business of games, rather than just being a couple of somebodies who had a good audition. Other than that show, the channel as a whole is juvenile and stupid; once you see "morgane web is hott she got big tits suk em" flash across the text message ticker at the bottom of the screen, you lose all hope. Sweat, G4TV.com, Players, Cinematech... need I say more? The only reason that veteran Leo Laporte has survived on that channel is because Call For Help is safely tucked away up here in Canada; far, far away from LA.

The show almost made Street Fury seem good... ALMOST.

I was willing to give the show the benefit of the doubt, but all of their choices are lame no-name characters with big boobs from games no one gives a crap about.

I'll say right now that I don't understand how people EVER liked Lara Croft, to be honest. Well, no... I do... but I don't know how anyone ever liked the games. I've always hated the Tomb Raider series. But after the last one, which NO ONE LIKED... why is she STILL getting all the attention?

I mean... after a decade, those sad lonely males can't STILL be masterbating to her image, can they? When I wanna whack off, it's going to be to silicone, not silicon boobies. That's the spooie method.

But at least they could at least give us some REAL female characters, like Samus Aran, or Vanessa Z. Schneider, or Ulala. Instead it's "lame big breasted girl from a random fighter" or "lame no-name hack-n-slash chick with a big butt". They already turned all of the TechTV shows that survived the first 2 months to crap... can't they at least salvage their OWN shows?

@_@

Not that anyone really cares, but when the forum at G4 first launched, literally every thread was getting locked/deleted with no reason giving. Even the people at the messageboards knew it was sad, and that says something when you are as used to G4's posters as I am. Regardless, I said my complaints in this thread...

http://forums.g4tv.com/messageview.cfm?catid=72&threadid=397436

;)

As for The changes to the Screensavers... I'm actually happy that they changed the show to Attack of the Show. Screensavers actually had credibility when it was on TechTV. AT least they aren't PRETENDING to know anything tech related like they had been for the previous 6 months. Now we can live in a magical pixy dust world with their Adult Swim rip-off animated shorts and I won't have a bad conscience knowing that the show once mattered to someone.

I completely know what you guys are talking about. Back a few years ago, I used to watch TechTV all the time. It was channel 44 and it was the only channel I watched. I learned a lot of neat little things from The Screensavers and the like. Then, I came home from school one day and I flipped on channel 44.... it was Fox News. I hadn't been so heartbroken in such a long time (how sad is that?). TechTV was switched to only digital cable and we didn't have that. Then my mom didn't pay the cable bill and all cable was dropped.

Now, three years later, I moved out and my roommate and I get cable. I notice that TechTV is still listed on the channel chart and I get really excited. We get the digital cable pack and the first channel I go to is TechTV. I am almost as heartbroken as when it was switched in the first place. The Screensavers wasn't what I remembered it being. It was a bunch of twenty-something losers who were the elitist indie kids from high school talking about worthless crap. No Leo, no Patrick, not even Martin. I literally almost cried (how sad, again).

You know what's the worst part? People used to give me crap for watching the old channel, but now the channel is fairly popular among most of my associates. It just makes you lose faith in humanity. Alright, so maybe not that much, but it still sucks.

spooie
06-15-2005, 03:55 PM
Naw... a TV show about masterbating to videogame characters is what makes you lose faith in humanity. That and all the threads on the forums asking "Which do you prefer, real girls or game girls?" and seeing 85% say games because "Unlike real girls, they're always there for me! Tee hee".

Speaking of Martin... Unscrewed was cancelled in part because the head of the network never really liked it to begin with, and they said it had too much sex for their channel. Yet, every single ad they have used to promote their channel, with the exception of the E3 Greatest American Hero riff, revolved around something sexually suggestive.

From seeing Princess Peach naked in Cheat!, or Kevin Periera's penis being used as a speaker phone in the CES specials, or catching oscar winners naked on AOTS. Even their "TVMA" screen has a bunch of naked women jumping around on it. Though, I always thought it was funning seeing the TVMA screen before the Doom Icons started, and then looking up to see TVY7 in the corner.

It's as it the powers that be of Comcast are making all the decision with the wrong head. They can promote some random woman shaking her ass to make a car rev up, and then have numerous topless women roll around on the windsheild of cars fondling hood ornaments, and it makes a perfect TV14 showing for the family to enjoy at 2pm that is somehow more suitable for the channel than an internet talk show aimed at adults that never aired before primetime.

We just reactivated our digital cable at home, so I decided to give this channel another chance. When I watch something having to do with games, I would rather listen to people who I know probably have played the game, and not some ditz talk about it like its cool while she shakes her ass around.

I have not seen this Videogame Vixens show, and doubt I would be interested, but I may record it on the DVR just for the hell of it. I may feel better about myself after watching how low some people can go for entertainment.

I never did see TechTV, but I do remember enjoying that CNET TV show that was on back in like.. 1997? Nerdy, but fun.

Anyways, between the crap on G4 and the SpikeTV Videogame Awards, my hope that someday we will say quality game-related programming on TV is quickly dissappearing.
