To me you guys are the PAL MD gods, so tell me whats going on here!

http://www.retrogamedepot.com/paperboy.jpg

Different sized MD Logos....
Different Shades of Red in the word Tegen
Larger Paperboy Pic in the Non-Domark one
Black & White Manual in the Non-Domark one

the main difference is on the back, the copy with the big MD logo has a Domark logo below the Tengen Logo and says:

"Sales And Marketing by Domark"

Also the barcodes are different, in size and numbers...

The Domark ones screenshots all have "Paused" Accross the screen (lazy screenshots!) where as the other one doesnt have Paused marked all over it

The Non-Domark one was made in Ireland where as the Domark released one was made in Japan

Also the spines are completely different, The Domark version has Paperboy written in standard "Arial" style font where as the Tengen one has paperboy written in the Paperboy font!

Is this anything to be excited about? or jsut a later re-release?

LMK!

Adam

I'd imagine one is just a re-release - I knew Domark distributed some Tengen games, but didn't realise there were alternate versions like that - I'll note it in the DB description.

It's probably worth checking other Tengen games for similar variations - I've just had a look and my copy of Klax is distributed by Domark, but Gauntlet IV isn't.

Cheers :) I'll try to keep an eye out for any more I spot.

Just checked the MD database file, and I've got Domark-style part numbers (T-88xxx-50) listed for Steel Talons & Paper Boy 2, and Tengen-style (T-48xxx-50) for Dragon's Revenge & RBI Baseball '94.
Confusingly, most of the earlier releases only list Tengen's unique type of part number (3010xx-0170), but these can also be Domark versions (as my copy of Klax shows).

Is there any difference in the part numbers on the spine of your Paperboys?
