Topic says it all. I know how hard it is trying to keep up with a dozen message boards, so if you choose not to visit the ECGXpo message forums (www.ecgxpo.com/forum) then I'll try to keep all important info about the show in this thread.

Here's the most recent message I sent out about the show:

We did it last year, and we're going to do it again this year. One lucky attendee of the East Coast Gaming Expo will walk away with their very own VECTREX. Now, last year's prize was a loose one, this year, we're gonna do it up a bit. This year's winner will win a BOXED Vectrex w/ the original owner's manual, Minestorm overlay, and the extra goodies that came with the system.

The only catch? You have to be AT the show to be able to WIN a FREE Vectrex!

East Coast Gaming Expo is hosting a Halo 2 tournament Saturday, July 30th at the Reading, PA Game Crazy.

The rules will be the same as the Halo 2 tournament being held at the East Coast Gaming Expo. (2v2 team slayer, check Halo 2 Tournament Announcement in the Events forum at www.ecgxpo.com for full rules) With available equipment permitting, we'll be attempting to get 4 XBoxes System Linked on 4 LCD monitors in the store allowing each player to have a full screen view of the action.

Tournament will begin roughly at 8pm and last until it's over (possibly past midnight).

Entrance fee per team is $20. Cash prize for 1st and 2nd place teams based upon the number of teams playing. More teams show up, more prize money. Pre-register your team by PayPal'ing $20 to chuck@toomanygames.com. Be sure to include the name of your team members and a creative (yet not offensive) team name.

Even if you're not into Halo, stop on by and introduce yourself! Most everyone who will be at the ECGXpo Halo 2 tourney will also be at East Coast Gaming Expo!

I'll be at the show again this year. This time though I'll focus on Entex AdventureVision items instead of the Joysticks memorabilia I focused on last year. LOL

Can't wait for another great show Chuck(and crew)!

Ima gonna bump this. Needless to say, I live in a boring hamlet, and the EGCX is pretty much the only major event that happens within a half-hour drive. I'm looking forward to an equally or greater asskicking show than last year... and I intend on spending a gigantic crapload of money. Si, mucho dinero. :D

You must play "Real Mortal Kombat." It's essentially Mortal Kombat but real. If you survive you win a vectrex. At least I think that's what we're going to do. I could be wrong. Yeah I think i'm wrong.

I was pissed that I can't win the vectrex.

We've got all the tournaments listed over on the official ECGXpo website, http://www.ecgxpo.com

This year's tournaments will include:

Halo 2 for XBox - 2v2 Team Slayer
Kaboom for Atari 2600 - High Score
SvC Chaos for XBox - Head-to-Head
Donkey Konga for Gamecube - Head-to-Head

We're also still thinking of an arcade tournament, most likely a high score event. Keep an eye on the website for that.

We've also posted some info on the main page about the pre-day gathering at Challenge Arcade. Be sure to make it out for that too!

Only a month away, you all ready?!

I can't wait... honestly, last years show was one of the most fun shows I've been to, even though it was probably the smallest.

BTW, I see the arcade list: http://www.ecgxpo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18 , is there really gonna be that many games? @_@ Is there even gonna be enough room for that many? I may be able to bring one or two of my own (or even a pinball) if you guys think you'd have the room, or the interest.

As far as I know that list is correct. Things can always change last minute though. I really can't wait to play Afterburner. I haven't played the arcade version in years!

I'm not sure off the top of my head, that's Chuck's part of the show. We estimated that 700 something people came for last years 1 day event. We hope to surpass that number. I'm guessing the third show which we've been working on a bit will have more people than the first 2 shows combined considering it will be out first full weekend.

We have 51 tables booked up. As for a vendor number, I'm not quite sure. Several groups of vendors booked under just one name, including Dream Con, the Dreamcast convention being held within ECGXpo, several homebrewers will be there demonstrating some of their works.

In addition to the 51 tables, we'll also have about a dozen systems on tables that we'll be setting up for play, and a handful of tables and chairs available for people to use to trade their games, sit and play portable games with each other (bring your DSes and PSPs, I'm sure you'll find people around the show playing wirelessly, I'll be one of them!), or whatever (as long as it's not selling stuff).

What systems will we have for demo? Well, I know we're gonna have 2 XBoxes system linked with Halo 2 all day, a Gamecube with MC Groovz Dance Craze (think Mad Catz quality meets DDR, if anyone has another Gamecube dance pad, bring it, we'd like to use it), a Virtual Boy, a Jaguar, an Intellivision, a NES, and whatever else I dig out of my collections. 8*)

There could be up to that many, and possibly more! 8*)

We'll gladly take any more coin-ops or pinballs. Bring as much as ya' can! I'm finalizing the floorplan this week (after finally getting a decent design program - SmartDraw Floor Plan Editor is A+++). We're dedicating right around 2,000 sqft just for coin-ops! 8*)

My suggestion, as to any vendor or tableholder, bring an extension cord or two and a few power strips. The Inn at Reading is really designed for weddings and small meetings, and as such only has power available along the wall.

Here's a (I think complete) list of my fully working games that people might actually be interested in playing:

Space Invaders Deluxe (w/ 8 game multigame kit)
Centipede
Kickman
4 Slot Neo Geo (I've got a few Metal Slugs, Bust-A-Move, some fighting games, and a few other decent games)
Gorf
Space Duel
Tempest
Q*Bert
Midway Skins Game
Super Strike
Roadblasters

I should also have a 50" projection Dead Or Alive working soon (waiting for the PCB to arrive)

Pins:
Firepower II
Checkpoint

In my van I could probably get 2 pins, 1 pin and 1 arcade, or possibly 2 arcades if they're small. Maybe you want to get some feedback from other people attending to see what games they'd like to see, or maybe pick some games that are of a different genre than most of the games there to have a larger variety. They're all just as big and heavy to me, so I don't really have a preference ;) .

Just for mere more bang for the space, the Neo Geo 4 slot, 4 games in one. 8*) (and I've recently gotten into Neo more than my prior passing fancy)

I'd like to see a pinball at the show, since I don't recall being at any prior conventions with any. I've not played either the ones you mentioned, but if either of them are EM pins, bring that one. 8*)

Bring your trade bait, we have 9 tables setup for people to park their butts on and trade games, play handheld games, or whatnot (just don't do money transactions, that's what we have vendors for!).

Tons of coin-ops, vendors, consoles, people, etc... it's gonna be a ball. Make sure to tell everyone you know about it!

Red Octane Sponsored Dance Dance Revolution Tournament

East Coast Gaming Expo will once again return to the Inn at Reading in Reading, PA on Sunday, September 18th! Last year's attendance was almost 800, this year we plan to blow that out of the water!

How do we plan on doing that? With the help a DDR tournament of course! Red Octane is sponsoring the ECGXpo's 2nd DDR tourmanent! We thank our friends at Red Octane for supporting the ECGXpo for the 2nd year!

The DDR tournament will begin at 6:00pm

It will be judged quite simply:

Heavy difficulty
No qualifier
Random pairings
3 songs
Coin flip determines who picks the first song
Loser of first song picks second song
Regardless of who won the 2nd song, the person who did not pick the first song will pick the 3rd song.
The person who loses the coin toss will get to pick which side to dance on.

Scoring will be:
Perfects = Score

In case of a tie we will add greats and subtract goods
Perfects + Greats - Goods = Score

Best 2 out of 3 wins, the loser is eliminated.

Modifiers are allowed, but nothing like hidden, sudden, random, etc...

That's it! Visit the website for all the details on the show! http://www.ecgxpo.com[/url]

I'd like to remind everyone, if you're coming to the show be sure to bring your cameras! We have a photo album section right on the ECGXpo forums and you can upload all your pics there, no need to upload them to PhotoBucket or any other picture hosting sites!

Doh... my van isn't gonna be available tomorrow, so I won't be able to bring the NG and Pin, but I just picked up a Warlords cocktail this week, and according to everyone that went to CAX, that is the ultimate party game... and it fits in the trunk of my car! :) There's just a few small things I gotta do to get it ready for tomorrow. Oh, are there going to be any chairs? If not, I guess we can raise it so it's a standup cocktail (actually easier to play IMO).

Thanks to everyone for putting on the show, and to the people selling all of the common Atari carts for 50 cents each :D . That's all I bought at the show today... I think it was about $10 worth of fun common carts that I didn't already own.

And that was SWEET how many arcades were there... but what happened to Challenge Arcade? I didn't see any machines from them. I did stop by their arcade at the mall though... WOW! They have at least double the machines they had last year! Oh, and it seems like everyone enjoyed the Warlords cocktail... I was worried that it wouldn't survive the day as I just recently bought it, so I hadn't had time to completely go over it, and the spinners were bad when I got it, so they were only temporarily fixed so I could bring it for the show.

Yeah - I have to repeat what's already been said.

Thanks to all who showed up and supported us yet again. I was extremely nervous about this years show for reasons many of you know. It went far better than I expected.

We still have work to do and improvements can always be made. We have been working on the ECGXPO 3 while slapping together 2.

The third show will hopefully be the first of many that truly represents what we're about and why there's a real need for the East Coast Gaming Expo to exist.

Thanks to Matt and Chuck and of course the real and true supporters of this show. You know who you are!

DogP, I didn't know that was your warlords! Very cool lil' cocktail, its funny when you see 4 guys huddled around it though :) Did you have a table there as well?

I neglected the DC section a bit (sadly), cause' you know once you see arcade cabs on free play, gamers have that gene that makes them beeline it to them.

To anyone that hasn't, take the three minutes to go to the mall around the corner from the INN and visit challenge arcade, we stop there after the show and they have surperb games there is really great shape! It literally is right around the corner.....great stuff!

It's over, and I got more than 1 hour of sleep last night! 8*)

I'd like to thank everyone who came out and supported us this year! There's no definate way to say how many people came to the show, but I'd say it was pretty close to the same number we had last year. It wasn't nearly as packed, thanks to all the extra room we had this year, everyone (I hope) had ample space to move around, setup their merchandise and equipment, and check out everything the show had to offer.

As RCM (Rob) mentioned earlier we were a tad nervous about the show going well, there was a lot of behind the scenes politics and issues, and we got off to a late start planning the event, but I think everything went off extremely well (except that horrible PA system... sheesh). Attendees were happy, exhibitors were happy, vendors were happy, and we were happy (and exhausted).

A lot of goodies were given out, extremely good players in all our tournaments, lots of great deals abound. I hope everyone enjoyed the day and will continue to support ECGXpo going into our third year. We do this show for the love of gaming and the love of the gaming community, and we hope the community loves us back! 8*)

See you in '06!

No, I didn't have a table, but I figured I'd bring a game or two, and when I picked up the Warlords, all of the people that go to CAX said that I needed to take that game. And it helped that it fit in my car too ;) .

I've got a few suggestions for next year though... first would be to get a better mic/sound system... no matter where I was standing in there, it seemed like I could never hear what anyone with the mic was saying. Also, for the door prizes, a real hat or something to draw from would have been nice (instead of asking people for a number ;) ), and maybe a schedule that door prizes would be drawn every 30 minutes or every hour... and write the number on the board and give people a few minutes to check before drawing the next. Last, I think more organization for the auction would have been nice... of course with the sound system nobody could hear anyway, but I think it would have been better if it was announced that the auction was starting and have a set place for it in the corner or something, then have them hold up the item for sale and allow people to inspect it, and give people more time for bidding (the bidding seemed rushed, usually they'll call out for higher bids for a while, then do the final call).

Don't take any of that stuff as a "I could have done better", I'm just making suggestions from what I noticed as an attendee.

I had a good time, would go again! I loved the auction, and the arcades! It was good all around!

ECGXPO 2 was great! First year was great too, but I really saw an improvement this year.

What I like most about the show is that it is very interactive and covers the broad range of gaming styles and generations well--not just classic or modern systems. I couldn't see the arcade machines from my vantage point, but the game stations were always busy. There was really something for every gamer--even the people who were clearly tag-alongs seemed to be enjoying the show!

Very much looking forward to ECGXPO 3!
