Back in 1985, NES released several games that would revive video games from the '83 crash. So which one, from that time, was your favorite NES game? Mine would have to be Excitebike. :)
* SMB is not listed since it would easily dominate the poll, so this makes it more interesting.

Baseball,10-Yard Fight or Tennis...one of those. If I can only pick one it would be Nintendo Baseball because when I got it..well that is all me and my best friend would play along with SMB :)

I voted 10 Yard Fight as opposed to a lot of people I really liked the game, it's also the only American Football game every every understood.
Other game I really liked were Excitebike, Wild Gunman and Wrecking Crew. Especially the last game still gives me good memories.

Hmm...wasn't Balloon fight released during that time too? Maybe not. Anyways, I vote Duck Hunt, followed by Ice climber. I still think both of those games have stood the test of time quite well. And that evil dog still haunts me with his evil, condescending laugh. :shivers:

Not really wild about any of those...

I had to give my vote to Excitebike.
20 years later and it's still fun to play!

I think I've gotta go with Clu Clu Land on this one. Though I admit I hadn't really been exposed to this game until I stumbled upon it inside Animal Crossing, I was instantly hooked.
I'm not sure what it is that captured me, but it really gave me the feeling I hadn't had since those days when arcades were arcades and every corner store started setting up seedy little back rooms filled with stand-ups. It's the simplicity of the concept, combined with the determination it takes to truly master it.

when i was small, the only 2 of these i had were smb and golf, so i grew to enjoy and appreciate golf. Me and my dad played it regularly, so i have to vote for it :)

Well of all those listed, my favorite back then would be regular old "pinball", followed closely by Duck Hunt. Although, now I would have to go with 10 yard fight :)

I went with Hogan's Alley, I've always loved light gun games.

Pinball, which is still one of the NES games I enjoy most to this day.

Most definitely Excitebike, but I voted for Kung Fu for the main reason that I played this one alot more then Excitebike.

I loves me some Duck Hunt.

Excitebike.
Funny thing is, I got a Deluxe Set back when, and I didn't get Super Mario Bros. anyway. It was all Duck Hunt and Gyromite for me.
Then I got Excitebike. :D
I will give honorable mention to Mach Rider, Pinball, Wrecking Crew and Kung Fu.

Excitebike is definitely the second best launch game, but I had to vote for Kung Fu. I love that game! It's so simplistic, yet so fun. The sound effects are bang on and Thomas controls perfectly. The evil laugh after even rounds is also a nice touch.

None then. Dont like any of them.

I have to go with Excitebike as well. When I first played the game it was just such a great experience. Take into account that I was only like 7 or 8 at the time so Super Mario Brothers 1 was revolutionary to me. The track editor was very cool. The sound effects were cool. The graphics. The opening sound when you first turn the game on. The music that plays before a race starts. Its all awesome, and thinking about it is starting to bring back some memories :( But I'm not really depressed thinking about. Just that nostalgic feeling is coming back :)

I have to go with Kung Fu. It was in the second batch of games I got for my NES (the other two were Pinball and Hogan's Alley) - heck, I almost got that with my NES instead of Zelda.
It is simple, but the different enemies and bosses required some different strategies to beat. And for some reason, I used to think it was really cool that the hearts encricling Thomas and Sylvia the second time you beat Mr. X were in a heart shape.
Hogan's Alley would probably be my second choice.

The only light zapper game I truly ever enjoyed.

I had to go for Kung Fu, but Pro Wrestling is a close second.
WTF is "Mach Rider"? Never heard of that one...

I'm going to go with pinball. It may have been kind of unorginal but it's my favorite pinball game after the turbo grafx ones and I find myself playing it quite a bit. Excitebike and Ice Climber are good ones too. Other than that i'm not a big fan of the others.

WTF is "Mach Rider"?
It's a futuristic motorcycle game on the NES. Think of Sega's Hang-On, only you can shoot from your bike. :)

No Urban Champion?
Why weren't Balloon Fight or Pro Wrestling listed? I think these two games were better than any of the ones in the poll.

Why weren't Balloon Fight or Pro Wrestling listed? I think these two games were better than any of the ones in the poll.
This poll is only for the games that were released with the NES back in 10/1985. Plus, if I added those now, I'm sure others would point out Kid Ikarus and Metroid. NES had a ton of classics, so where would the list end? :/

I understand that, but wasn't Balloon Fight released in 10-85, or was it slightly later? I believe Urban Champian also was, no?

According the DP price guide, both Balloon Fight and Urban Champion were released in 06/86.

I picked Hogan's Alley, but for some reason I failed to realize that Excitebike is on the list. I definitely had the most fun with that game, and still love to play it under an emulator.

Wrecking Crew for me. I like the puzzle elements and being able to smash things with a hammer. Excellent and underrated nes game.

Although Kung Fu was a favorite of mine back in the day, I had to cast my vote with Gyromite. Man, that game brings back memories. When my Dad bought me the NES system with R.O.B. and we set it all up, I was blown away. "you mean this guy will play the game with me Dad?" :D

I'll have to go with Excitebike. It was my first NES game. Seriously. I got Excitebike about 2.4 seconds before I got my NES/SMB/Duck Hunt setup. I say 2.4 seconds because I found Excitebike under the Christmas tree, found a note from Santa under Excitebike saying that my new NES was already set up at the TV, and then ran to the TV in 2.4 seconds. I probably could've shaved off .1 seconds off of that time, but I ran into a wall LOL I was four or five years old at the time.
Pinball would have to be a close second. My parents always rented that one for me whenever we went to Blockbuster. Then I got a used Pinball from Funcoland a few years later.

Excite Bike was and is still a great game. Duck Hunt would come in right behind Excite Bike.

Where's Balloon Fight?
I voted Wrecking Crew in lieu of Balloon Fight.
