Anyone else played this great point and click adventure game on PC or Xbox? I finally got this a few days ago and I am really loving it!

Spoilers from here on it maybe.

I really like the 2 part storyline going on, taking place in the past and the present, its really quite interesting.

The voice acting is going between excellent and horrible. The writing is pretty good so far, and some of the comments have been really funny to me. Victoria's first meeting with her boss really made me laugh.

I love the atmosphere in the present day portion of the game. I LOVE games that take place during the Xmas season, it just reminds me of some games that I really enjoyed that use the season as a backdrop, such as Parasite Eve and Shenmue.

The part of the game that takes place in the past reminds me of the novel 'The Alienist' by Caleb Carr.

The story is really grabbing me, and I can't wait to see how it ends, which hasn't really happened to me for many games recently.

The Xbox versions cutscene videos are a little grainy, but still watchable.

Suprisingly, this game is Xbox Live Aware, so people can see me playing it, which is unusual for a smaller release game.

And as for the puzzles so far all of them have been easy enough to solve if you just pay attention to what is going on in the game.

Anyone else playing/have played this game?

I looked for it today, but couldn't find a copy.

Well I know my EB only got one copy, and thankfully they phoned me when it came in, even though I didn't have it preordered. It pays to be on good terms with the managers/employees of an EB. :)

I'm actually kinda digging all these point and click releases for the XboX. So far I have Syberia one and two. I'm keeping an eye out for still life but haven't had much luck spotting it in stores.

Does anyone know if theres any more of these out? I know they remade Broken Sword but it looks more 3D adventure-ish then a true point and click. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I have Broken Sword, and it is point and click, but it looks like there are some events that are more actiony, kind of in a QTE-type style like in Shenmue.

Haven't played it a super lot yet though, so I can only comment from the first hour or so of the game.

So far, I'm digging it.

After Still Life comes Syberia 1 & 2, then I'll polish off Broken Sword.

Awesome, another one of those oddball Xbox games to look for.

Thanks for mentioning it, I probably never would have noticed it otherwise.

fall to your knees and kiss dreamcatcher/the adventure company for these games. they always get trashed by some critics who should know better, but i love the pacing, visuals, and general atmosphere of adventure games in addition to the other genres i play.

we're also supposed to get a sequel to a game called the longest journey on the xbox either this year or next, so watch out for that. also, i'd try obscure, even though it's more survival horror. it's fun and has some cool innovations here and there. there are also two myst games on the xbox- i'm not a fan of that series, but it's cool that they're around...

atari is going to publish a game called indigo prophecy (formerly called fahrenheit) this fall- it's a mix of adventure and cinematic action elements that should also appeal to you if you like darker-themed games.

and if you still drag out the ps one (or play ps one games on your ps2, there are two dracula games from the adventure company that are really cool...

I actually downloaded all the videos off of ign tonight to check that game out. It has moved to near the top of my most wanted list now.

I totally reminded me of Shenmue with the QTE bits, and the adventuring looks to be tons of fun. The story looks quite interesting too. And there are some interesting split screen cinematic bits that really look to increase the drama of the game.

Definately check this one out.

d'oh- if you play PC games and want more, pick up POST MORTEM, which features gus mc pherson in a solo adventure. it's a "prequel" of sorts to still life in that it introduces the character and goes a bit more into detail about his "powers"...

Actually Post Mortem is one of the games I am going to keep my eyes open for when I get out to my local EB next.

Too bad it's not for a console, but Gus's adventure was my favorite portion of Still Life. Definately checking that out! Actually I think I'd taken a look at Post Mortem before and decided against buying it... I'll have to see the box.

Anyway yeah finally found Still Life and beat it. Godly game. The ending was a real let down so they'd better make a direct sequal. It's just sort of a cliff hanger they way they left it.

My hardest puzzle was probably the lock picking, I just completely failed to grasp the whole mechanics of it so I cheated and looked it up. My easiest puzzle was the baking, I dunno maybe it's cause I can actually bake. It just seemed so obvious which ingrediants went where.

I've been playing the prequal online http://stilllife-game.com it's a neat little setup. You play the whole game through the perspective of Victoria's computer desktop, checking her email and reading her notes. You have to love the work Microids put into their presentation.

So yeah have to play Post Motem next, also been thinking of picking up the CSI game for XboX. I downloaded it for the pc and like it quite a bit, I really oughta buy it. It's all like the initial segment of Still Life where Vics running around with the luminol uncovering the secret bloody messages.

The Xbox version of CSI is CRAZY buggy. You're better off playing the PC versions of CSI and Dark Motives instead (the Xbox version contains both).

That's disapointing. How detremental are the bugs to the gameplay though?

I wasn't able to finish the Xbox version because I couldn't collect and/or analyze certain pieces of evidence in the first Dark Motives scenario. Other people have been able to finish it, and I'd love to know how. :) I even followed a step-by-step FAQ to try and accomplish events in a specific order, and still couldn't get past the bugs.
