ok

somehow i got myself into this mess(buying lots to get games and stuff).
I have 3 version 2s and 2 version 1s.
I also have a SedaCD/sidebyside unit with everything.
I only want to keep one combo, i do not want the rest.
They all look ok, question is:

What one combo do i wanna keep? 1 or 2 with the CD.
Is there one more reliable.

If i wanted to get a converter, does that work better with either version 1 or 2?(i see people saying only works with 1, but hacksaw with 2)

Does 32x with either version correctly, do i have to hacksaw that too?

is this enough fricken questions?

keep one genesis 1 and one genesis 2 (this includes whichever is attached to your sega cd), and buy a mega key converter with region switches for imports. also, try and track down a mega cd converter cart if you want to play japanese mega cd games... :D [/list]

The side by side Sega CD 2 is a bit more reliable than the frontloader IMO. I've seen more frontloaders die. However, the frontloaders are harder to come by...they didn't make quite as many of them.

i really don't care about the import genesis stuff, plenty o' US titles i need to get so far. the only real reason i see keeping version 2 is that it's a little bit smaller and that just seems easier to fit in my drawer.

True Genny 2 is smaller but if you plan to use Power Base Converter, the shape of it causes it not to fit Genny 2 at all. You'd ether need to hacksaw the part off or take it apart and just plug the gut in.

32X has no specific issue with Genny 1 or 2, they have *lots* of issue with itself. >:( (touchy and resets at the slightest vibration, won't play contorller port 2, won't share Genny with Sega CD, problem with video output, etc.) I have yet to find a 32X that doesn't make me curse and swear at it.

Sega CD 2 is better unless you want the old look.
