I've been an NCAA Football junkie for years but IMO 2005 was one of the weakest variations in the series for years...EA's AI has been going downhill and the various tweaks they've added haven't done much to add to the game. I really was disappointed with the 2005 edition, but if you've never played any NCAA game before I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I actually play NCAA 2004 more -- that seems to be the pinnacle of the franchise in recent years. I'm hoping 2006 gets back on track...

I agree. I have been a big NCAA Football fanboy for a while now. I really enjoyed 2004 with the additions of mascots and the cannons. I really liked the fight songs too, but I think that was a 2003 thing..

Anyways, as for playability, smoothness and fps its the best. I think that the AI got a little too tinkered with on 2005 but its still a good game. Topspin is a lot of fun too.. Those were actually my 2 most played games on xbox when I first got it.. thats pretty impressive seeing that I had just purchased halo2 and Fable at the same time and they saw a lot less play than topspin :)

Good prize!

I actually prefer the NCAA series to the Madden NFL series. The NCAA 2005 was the first game I played when I shifted my sports gaming to the XBOX.

To make your NCAA experience EVEN BETTER, you can go to www.ps2rosters.com, and get the actual rosters to download for all of the Division 1AA teams. This will put the player names on the backs of the uniforms and list actual names in the stats.

Rosters are available for PS2 or XBOX versions.

I knew next to nothing about college football, but had played Madden for years. On a whim, I nabbed a copy of NCAA Football 2003 off ebay to give it a spin. I was amazed at how different the college football experience was. I picked up a copy of 2004 when it came out, but passed on 2005. (I usually only update my sports games every two years.)

It plays well and though it's hard for me to explain, it really has a different feel than NFL. You don't have to deal with salaries and stuff, but you also build your team knowing that you only have 4-5 years out of your players. And the really good ones tend to leave early to enter the draft, which could really throw a wrench into your next season's plan. The recruiting phase at the end of a season is (for me anyways) fun enough that it could have been a game on its own. Enjoy your prize!

I always buy the NCAA Football games. I didn't like 2005 very much--like others have said, 2004 was much better. I'm looking forward to the 2006 iteration, but may wait for a drop before buying it. BTW, Best Buy had NCAA 2005 for $5 last week. There may not be any left by now, but if anybody likes football, and is curious, I think its worth looking at.

I heard the XBOX version had MAJOR slowdown problems compared to the Cube and PS2 version. I played the XBOX version at Gamestop today and wow... its like 1/2 the speed or slower than the PS2 version.
