***WARNING*** This is a "Swimming in Lake Me" Production

The dream of my current video game life right now is to finally achieve TurboGrafx-16 Nirvana.

To define this Nirvana, it basically means being able to play just about any TG-16 or PC Engine Hu card, CD, Super CD and even Arcade CD. Everything but SuperGrafx.

But the second part of that dream is to be able to do it in RGB. RGB for Hu cards is pretty simple, but RGB for the CD media is a little bit more complicated.

So anyways, I started on this long journey a few months ago. I came to the conclusion that I needed to get the CD attatchment and docking bay rather than a Turbo Duo.

I had a good working Turbo unit, but no CD unit or docking station or anything.

Well, this guy on here, Madgamer, was selling some systems in the Buying and Selling forum and one of the systems was a TG-16 CD package. This package was actually supposed to include a TG-16 unit, the CD unit, the docking station, a System 3.0 card, RF unit and a Power Brick that powers the two systems via the docking station.

Well, to make a long story short, this dude Madgamer scammed me, and a number of other people on this site. He did actually finally send me some of the stuff that I paid for, but he packed it so horribly, that if any of it worked before, it probably doesn't now.

So at this point, I do actually have a TG-16 (my own), I have a CD unit (probably broken), Docking Station (probably broken), system 2.0 card (not 3.0 like promised, but hey at least this probably works!) If only I had the power brick, I could actually see if any of this damn stuff works.

So now I go on this long search for a power brick, but for some reason it seems like I just can't get one.

Now, in the meanwhile of all this going on, I decide to send my TG-16 to Matthew Ross to have him mod it for RGB output on the side of the unit (you need to do that to play CD games in RGB if using the CD unit and docking station). And for him also to do a region mod with a switch, so that I can play Japanese Hu cards.

So I spend a ton of cashola to get these mods done, and later I finally get my TG-16 back. I test out a bunch of PC Engine games on it, and it works great. So I actually get a Arcade Card Pro on a really good deal, so that I could use the Arcade Card Pro while my system is set to Japanese Hu cards. This will allow me to play any CD game, Super CD game or Arcade CD game! I get a Arcade Card Pro on a great deal, and I'm thinking everything is sweet. Pretty soon I'll be playing CD games and Super CD games and Arcade CD games in glorious RGB.

But, there is a problem. I test the RGB output of the side RGB mod on the TG-16, and the signal is scrambled. So I have to send my system back to Matthew. I send it Priority Mail on May 31st.

While this is going on, I'm watching a Ebay auction for a TG-16 with CD player auction. It has the power brick that I so desperately need. Plus, I get another CD unit, and another TG-16, so at least one of these two systems will work right, and if they both work, I just sell the other one.

So I win this auction, and the main thing I needed was the power brick, but because of the way that other stuff was shipped, I figure a extra CD unit and docking station, and turbo, is just added insurance just in case.

So, I'm thinking that finally my dream is starting to take shape. Finally I will be able to play TG-16 CD games and Super CD games in glorious RGB.

Unfortunately, a dissaster happens.

My TG-16, that has a region mod, and a side RGB mod that needs fixing, comes up missing. I shipped the thing May 31st via Priority, and Matthew should have had it a long time ago. But he hasn't recieved anything. I had the correct address and everything on there, and I don't know what could have happened, but I didn't get insurance or delivery confirmation or anything like that. I never do. I've shipped tons of things and never had a package just dissapear like this.

When I found out that he still hadn't gotten my Turbo, it made my heart sink. I invested alot of money and time into that little turbo. It makes me really pissed off.

So, I now have a missing Turbo, and I won this auction for a whole nuther TG-16, CD player combo, but I'm started to get a bad feeling about the guy that I won the auction from.

I'm thinking I might get scammed on the Ebay deal as well. I made a mistake and bought the TG-16 CD package from a guy that has only done one transaction. I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I won the auction in early June, and I paid the guy immediately via PayPal, and days go by and I hadn't heard anything. Then I email this guy, and he says that he has had a busy week, and he will get it shipped out right away.

Then I don't hear from him, and I email him again and he gives me a UPS tracking number, but the it shows that UPS hasn't even taken custody of the package yet.

Anyways, I have a missing TG-16 unit that is worth over $100, and I won a auction for a TG-16 CD package that I'm now thinking this guy is trying to scam me as well.

It's like give me a freaking break. Does God not want me to play TG-16 CD games in RGB or what? Everything that can possible go wrong, has gone wrong.

When will my dream finally come true. When will I be king of the TG-16, with the ability to play everything but SuperGrafx Hu cards in glorious RGB?

Right now, it's looking like I might not finally achieve this dream till 2006!!!

That sucks, and I'm really sorry. Ask for your money back if you paid through PayPal. And you should talk to your post office about the package. I've only gotten scammed once, and it was for a Harvest Moon cow to Canada, so I didn't really care, as the value wasn't too high. So I don't know if the post office can do anything, as I have never done anything like this before. Still, this should not have happened, and I am sorry. I hope that you will achieve this dream even before 2006 and everything. Good luck, the Lord wants you to have this, but there are always trials and tribulations for everything!

The one good thing is that I paid PayPal for the auction, and I actually paid extra money for the PayPal guarantee, just in case there was some hanky panky, or the thing didn't work. Still, my intention isn't to get a refund, it's to get a working unit that I can play on.

But at least I do have that protection, so I won't be out that money. It would just be pain in the neck and a big time inconvience.

I'm much more worried about the TG-16 that I sent out. I sent it in one of those Priority fixed rate boxes. It was $7.70 for anything you can put in there regardless of weight. I had the correct address and everything, and I shipped it out on May 31st. Dude lives in Hawaii, but he's shipped me packages the same way, and I got them in about 4 days. It's been a long time since May 31st.

Do I have any recourse whatsoever? I didn't get insurance or delivery confirmation, and I can't even find the reciept for it.

I hope it works out well for you. Matt does great work. Too bad he really doesn't post anywhere much any more.

Out of curiosity, do you know what he's using for the RGB mod? Meaning, is he amplifying the signal?

wow... what a nightmare...

You're right. It seems that everthing that could possibly go wrong, did.

I wish you luck in sorting this out. Hope everything turns out okay for you... :(

Have patience.. dealing with mail to and from Hawaii is a different monster altogether...

As for the slow reacting eBay seller - there is no excuse but kind of behaviour seems to be common - there are sellers who have good intentions and will ship your stuff - but they are just slow, and when your waitin' for your "warm chocolate puddin'" it can be almost unbearable.... I've bought things from people with 100's of feedback and they 've waited as much as 3 weeks toship without even giving so much as a reason...

My advice - be patient - don't file a Paypal claim right away and don't get rude with the seller (yet). 8-)

I think you pretty much have to add some type of amplification for the RGB signal to be good.

The N64 needs the most amplification, it's a very weak RGB signal, and I think the Turbo's RGB signal is the second weakest. So you pretty much have to add some type of amplification to it. As to what he's using for the amplification, I don't know.

Yeah, I know I mention RGB way too freaking much, that's just a horrible habit of mine.

But if you ignore all the RGB crap, this is mainly about my dream of playing TG-16 CD and Super CD games and PC Engine Hu cards and American Hu cards and all that.

It's about my love for videogames and eventually being able to have my NEC situation exactly the way that I want it.

I'm more interested right now in getting my NEC situation together than I am in getting my XBOX 360 in November, and that's saying something, because I'm super excited about the 360.

I understand where you are coming from. I have a turbo fetish myself and I'm hoping your experience with getting RGB done on it is worthwhile so I can venture into it.

Who is this guy Mattew Ross? Does he have a contact information, I'd like to send my stuff to him for an RGB mod and we can compare. I think D-Lite also does mods for RGB for both Hu-Cards and Super CD-Rom (right or wrong?)....I'll ping D-lite on the Neo-Geo boards if he doesn't see this....

I'm hearin' it.

I've done RGB on a Duo for one person and doing an R next, same deal.

Reason I was asking about what Matt used is there are several methods to amp the RGB, but some are not so good. I did it through the Sony CXA1645 I added to the system for S-Video, so it was easy and that is a great chip for boosting the RGB. BUT, there is another method posted at gamesx that I have found isn't as good. Just wondering what he used there.

Funny enough, I learned a lot about building the S-Video circuit from Matt. He sent me a TG16 he did so I could figure some things out, although his circuit was installed from a preexisting complete circuit. I built it from scratch with some guidance from Matt.

What did you find not so good on the RGB mod at gamesx with the 4 transistor amp ?

You know what's funny? My Turbo Dream still hasn't come true.

I do now have a Turbo CD unit, and a Power Brick and the Docking Station and a working TG-16, and I can play CD games on it, but........

I can't play them in RGB, and I can't play any of the Super CD or Arcade CD games, or any of my Japanese Hu cards.

I still need to get a Turbo modded for RGB output when connected to the CD unit, and I still need to get one modded for the region mod.

Where's D-Lite? I've PM'd the guy, but I guess he hasn't been around lately.

Well folks, I'm happy to report that as of October 7th 2005, my Turbo Dream has in fact come TRUE!!

YEP. I got my Turbo from Matt in the mail today. It took a long, long time, but finally it's here and it was worth the wait. Today is the first day that I've been able to play Super CD's, and it's also the first day I've been able to play any CD or Super CD games in RGB.

You see I have an Arcade Card Pro, but without a region modded TG-16, it was worthless. So now that I have this turbo back, and it has a region mod on it, I can put my Arcade Card Pro in there and be able to play U.S. and Japanese CD games, Super CD games and Arcade CD games. I'm also able to play both U.S. and Japanese Hu cards. Only thing I can't play are SuperGrafx Hu cards, but since there are only 5 SuperGrafx Hu cards anyways, that isn't that big a deal.

Today I played Dracula X. Wow. I can see why people pay crazy loot for that game. I'm playing all kinds of Turbo CD games, and I'm totally in love right now. This is amazing. Seeing all the colors and the details just pop off the screen is awesome.

My Turbo Dreaam has truly come true. And it's just as I imagined it would be.

Total Bliss! :-P
