Sony is currently working on some new technology that will take gaming/ home computing to a different level.. hell, a different dimension all together.. This video is AMAZING to say the very least..

What did I just see....?

I figured this post was going to be some kind of joke, but.......wow. I've never seen anything like that before....I'm trying to figure out how that could have maybe been faked or something, i.e. image is in the bottom part, pieces are just glass, but it REALLY looked legit, I think it pretty much HAS to be.

That was AMAZING. We need more info on this!

It has potential to make something cool, but in it's current form, it's basically a more labor intensive version of Windows, with stylus capability.

It's really hard to absorb exactly what is happening there! Have to be thinking in different directions.

Interesting to watch but seems to have no practical purpose, I can do all of that on my laptop.

Maybe I just missed the link or info regarding what I just saw...but sure this is Sony R&D? Then again there is SO much far more advanced stuff in R&D labs around th world...still pretty neat.

wow, very interesting. Then again, we see interesting hardware specs all the time and they don't get used very often. I'm gonna wait this one out.

OK wtf was that!? lol
I have no idea what that is for, but the technology used for it was kinda amazing. Loveing the click and drag effect. The baseball stats parameter dragging was very cool too. Pretty funky how it scrolls thru all differents baseball players. I don't know what theya re doing in that R&D department. But they are no joke!!

Interesting but to object oriented. Why take clickable items into the real world where they can get lost?

What the hell?

Those tiles looked like mini LCD screens, but I couldn't tell if the backilight was built in or came from the black panel.

I wonder if it is just some proof of concept prototype or if they really plan on making those relatively as seen.

Uhm... yeah, it looked neat and all... but it's basically pointless..

Just more of a hassle, to be rummaging through a pile of plates..

That was pretty neat, but not too useful in reality just yet.

Wow! It's like they took Windows and gave you little glass things that were actually the Windows, and then you could use them to put up information with, one Window per data set.

I can see it teaching toddlers how to use computers in the future. I used alphabet blocks, they'll use Sony Windows!

I'm a little skeptical that it's from the site alldumb.com...

*Pft* Where have I heard that before?

Yes, I am cynical toward $ony. I'll believe it when - and ONLY when - I see it. Never again will I buy into $ony's hype.

The link that Cav gave also contains a link to the video.

What? Each tile is labeled for a specific task; well, maybe they've got some specific hardware or software in that little strip on the bottom. I'd rather have them be general purpose myself...the one had a camera on it, apparently...if that was a scanner it was VERY fast.

Huh, don't know what else to say. Instantly configurable display systems! *donk*

Oh, and apparently this research is half a decade old (!). Keep saying Sony doesn't have anything up their sleeves, naysayers...

I can't even comprehend what is going on.
That part at the end where the guy drags the movie and plays it on the tv is crazy! @_@ @_@

Something tells me that it won't have the same awe effect in the real world with bad pixels placed randomly in each of those tiles
