So, I'm terrible when it comes to building stuff. I can't cut a piece of paper without tearing it, and actual construction projects? HA! The 'table' I built in my college Industrial Class fell apart leg by leg on my way to the car from the shop. I've always been jealous of the system modders and custom shelf builders that show off their goods in the forums.
But I do sometimes rock in a good way, and apparently its designing video game cases / library sets. My original project was to design a complete case set-up for all the caseless PSX OPM Demo Discs. They turned out like so:
http://www.game-rave.com/disc_lay.jpg
Each one lists everything on the disc, plus corrects several typos / incorrect game names. The coolest feature though, was when you lined up all the cases, you got this:
http://www.game-rave.com/disc_all.jpg
Each image you see in the side mural is a character from the top 10+ games that represent the PlayStation system. Also, and not quite visible, at the bottom of each disc is a single letter, when you line all of them up, it spells out "Http://www.game-rave.com Perfect PlayStation Guide"
One of these days I'll actually cobble all of the images onto a CD to give away as a Paypal Donation gift on my site.
The newest project though, are my MVS carts. I HATE HATE HATE the real arcade labels. So bland, so bleah, they look like the generic food aisle at Jewel. So, since I can't afford to buy Shock Boxes, I decided to take labels...er...things into my own hands: DangerboyMVS Labels!
http://www.game-rave.com/compare.jpg
Each label has the full game name, screenshot, Meg count, # of players and developer. Although you can only tell by looking at Ninja Combat, I even developed a Colored Bar Genre indicator that I based off of the old TG16 one for reference (ie red = fighting, yellow is action, sports is green, etc). The bar is located on the left side next to the MVS logo.
My hope is to one day have all the US MVS Carts, and have all of them labeled with my creations. If anything, it will look great in a portfolio, since the PSX ones helped me earn a $3,000 graphic design scholarship. :D
Just had to puff my chest a little, game on! :D
