View Full Version : 72 Pin NES Connectors (OEM Part...NOT aftermarket)

I recently bought out a couple of Nintendo repair centers and I have acquired a TON of parts. Among them were several 72 pin connectors. These are NOT aftermarket, but genuine Nintendo replacement parts. So, they are "ZIF." It doesn't feel like you are pulling a tree out of the ground when you take a cart out of the console. Also, these are NEW...still wrapped in the pink foam...and NOT restored or cleaned. I already replaced the connectors in two of my NES consoles and they work perfectly. I was wondering how much interest there would be in these and how much they would be worth roughly? Thanks for the help.

The main reason I posted is that all the ones on ebay are aftermarket...mostly by MCM I think (someone please correct that if I'm wrong). The aftermarket ones have a really high failure rate and also extremely high pin tension...i.e. it's very hard to insert a cart and even tougher to pull it out. These are "ZIF," just like what came in the NES when it was new. I've just never seen anyone selling OEM ones on ebay. Do a search on the forums for NES connectors and check out some of the topic discussions.

Some good info in this post....

I don't think they would be worth much more than the MCM ones, mainly because even though the MCM ones have a vice grip on the cart, they still work perfectly.

Although, I am interested in one if you end up buying them. ;)

I'd be interested in a few if you come up with a price.

Read around, the MCM connectors are truly shitty.

Well... I have 2 NES and they both have new 72 pins in them. The one in my NES works perfectly, I have never had a game not work. It also feels exactly like a original 72 pin would. My other NES works 100% just like mine, except that it is hard to get the cart in and out of the machine. It has an extremely hard grip on the cart to say the least. I'm not sure however if mine are MCM or not (I forget), but they are far from shitty.

Well, I called the Nintendo 800 number, 800-255-3700. Due to the age of the SNES and NES, blah blah blah. They offer no parts. Bummer :(

Did a price for the oem 72 pins get settled on? If its not too much I might bite?

I got one from them last summer for free. I don't know if they still do it, though.

I picked up several NES and SNES test carts and an N64 test cart...also a set of GCN service test disks, and Gameboy test cart. Also got a ton of parts for NES, SNES, and N64...normal stuff...power and reset switches, NES and SNES pin connectors, brand new console case shells (VERY COOL), case parts, a few console main PCB's, stuff like that. I'll try to get some pics posted to a yahoo photo album and get you guys a link if you'd like to see some of the stuff.

Oh I almost forgot...one ofthe coolest things I got was a handful of N64 expansion paks STILL sealed in bags (each seperately) with a large red tag that says "Genuine Nintendo Spare Part," and a Nintendo trademark.

I got mine a few days ago, it came super fast. Only problem is the games have to be SUPER clean to work, otherwise they dont get read... at all.

So I still had blinking when I put my "cleaned" (had to go back and scrub it with a new qtip and alcohol) copy of SMB3 in, but after a minute of hard cleaning, it worked good.

Other than that, it's as good as new :)

How much for the expansion pack?

^^^^^^^

Why I don't sell connectors anymore. Let me rebuild it, and they are always happy after.

Good Luck with the connectors! I'd love to clear out an old Nintendo Service center, but my dream is to clean out an old Intellivision service center. A bit late methinks! LOL

Got the new 72 pin. It works really well! Nice to not have to pry the game out anymore :)

EDIT:

Ok I decided to do a last ditch effort to save this thing, so i soaked a cart with alcohol and let it sit in the console for a few minutes. After letting it dry out, I tried another game, it works now.

Perhaps the 72 pin had got contimated by dirt I didnt notice, anyway it's working again good now, hopefully it stays good :)

Edit again:

tried another few games out, no luck :-/ I have no idea whats going on.

Sorry, but you've bumped three of your threads up to the top of the front page. And since two of them are selling threads, I'm locking this one.

If you'd like to list this stuff in your other selling thread that's fine, just edit your original post and/or subject line or add it as a 24 hour bump. Also, if you'd like to relist this as it's own thread then that's cool too, just wait for your other selling threads to fall of the front page before doing so(usually only takes about a day or two for this to happen). Thanks!
