Interesting! I'm curious as to whether or not it's going to sell.

I was just going to post this here too. I'm certain that someone here will want it enough to buy it. I'm not sure about the BIN though.

How do you go about disassembling more complicated standees without damaging them? I have a Halo 2 one that I want to sell.

I bid $125, reserve not met?! Jesus H Christ, he does realize he put $50 shipping on there, right?

Edit: God I want this. Oh fuck it. Let's try $150.

There we go.

Did I just commit to paying $200 for standee? Am I insane?

Where do you put the ear?

That might be a scary thing to see when you first wake up in the morning.

LOL Dude, that made me laugh pretty hard.

$200 is ALOT of money, but it is very cool. Good luck port.

HOLY SHIT! There was one of these on Ebay around 6 months ago, and it even came with some original documents, a ticket to the original event, and a t shirt from the even as well.

What was the buy it now on this one?
I am very interested, but the shipping charge is down right brutal! It won't even cost $20 to ship that fedex ground.

I bid on the last one that was up and it was looking like i was going to win until i got sniped and it sold for 190.... my max bid was 188 something. Some Mike Tyson nut won it.

From the original auction (the one I bid on), the guy had stated that it had come from CES back when the big N was promoting for Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! Anyways, i remember that what came with that one was two "tickets to a round with Tyson" (something that nintendo created to promote the game). I guess it was a fake boxing match where people were invited and nintendo gave a presentation about Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! Also included in that auction were original documents stating that it was 1 of so many standee's given out at CES. I believe it was somewhere around 25 (i think...)

That it is all from memory so don't quote me on anything, but if you ask me this is a real nice piece of NES history. I hope you win dave.

I just don't know how I would explain to my gf why I have a standee of a big muscular topless black man in my room.

Holy shit. I hate standees with a passion, but that is one standee I would love to have in my game room. People would burst out laughing as soon as they walked through the door.

And I think you need to stop making stupid comments, but hey, that's just my opinion.

And the woman has already approved the standee. (Not the price, but as she put it, it's my money ^^)

You asked if you were insane or not, I just confirmed it.

I wonder if there are any cardboard standups out there for Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Now that would definitely get some jokes ... hide your kids.

That is one of the coolest standups I have ever seen.. It really captures the essance of the game..

Cool stuff, but $150 for some cardboard that probly cost max $5 to make is way too much for me.

I wonder if MT himself won it furthering his debt.

Awesome, too bad I just found out about this. :( But why was it at the CES in 1988, since the game came out in either October or November of 1987?

congratulations to our own imanerd0011 :)

Thanks! :)
I realize that I paid alot for this, but it is right up my alley. I pretty much only collect Nintendo Merchandise and Nintendo signs/displays, and this is the Holy Grail of sign collecting.
There are only a few known signs/displays that I don't currently have. Here is a list of them

Mario Superstars Display (large display that has spots for 5 games to be put in)
Mario Globe display ( I have only seen this 1 time on a website. It is a globe and has Mario's face on it, it also has something that goes around it that says "World of Nintendo"
Any Zelda Display
Final Fantasy Display
Small Mike Tyson Display, just like the one I bought , but it is 18" tall. This was the one used in stores like EB and such.

If anyone has any of these please PM me! I am willing to pay ALOT for them!

THanks

For that much you could've hired Mike himself to stand in your game room for at least 6 months. :D

Well... I got the item today, and it is by far the coolest thing I have ever owned in my life!!! :D It is pretty tall (around 5'8 I would guess), and the back is more solid that I had expected.

I called the guy who sold it to me and asked him how he got it, or if he knew anything about it.
He said that he worked for "Broderbund" (sp) during the 80's and went to the 1988 CES convention in Las Vegas. He told me that there was a official sized boxing ring there to promote Mike Tysons' Punch Out, and that even Don King was in attendance!!! I asked him in the man himself (tyson) was there, but he said no. He told me there were roughly 8-10 of these displays there, and since he was "in" with Nintendo, he got to take one home.

If anyone remembers the one that was sold around 7 months ago on Ebay, that was his friend that also went to the 1988 CES with him. He also worked for Broderbund as well. If anyone has anything else to add about it, please do! :)
