When it comes to RPG's, I'm strickly an action RPG guy. I can't stand the turn based games. I have to have control of my character, and be able to swing and slash a monster with my own button presses.
My two favorite Action/RPG's are Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) and Dungeon Explorer (TG-16).
What I'm interested in, is what are the best action/RPG's on the SNES that fit this type of bill?
Obviously, one of them would be:
1. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

If you can stand a so-so translation, I recommend Soul Blazer. It's right up that alley. It also has a prequel, Illusion of Gaia.
Don't expect another Zelda, though! LOL

SFC only, but there's a translation - Front Mission: Gun Hazard.

*smacks forehead* Secret of Mana.
To tell the truth, though, the action in this game isn't very satisfying. It's more of an action RPG for people who play turn-based RPGs. The controls have no finesse to them--nothing like Zelda. You'll especially notice it while running.

Gotta second (or is it third?) the reccomendation for Illusion of Gaia. IMO, it's the best action-RPG on the system. The prequel, Soul Blazer is quite good too. Unfortunately, the US was screwed out of the third game in the series, Terranigma, so you'll have to import it.
Actraiser is sort of an action RPG, though it's really more of a hack 'n slash with Simcity-like sections thrown in. It rocks, though.
EVO: Search for Eden is an excellent action RPG where you eat other animals to evolve. It's really unique.
Twisted Tales of Spike McFang is a really great action RPG where you play as a young vampire. Really weird and funny game, though it's pretty tough to find.
Hope this helps! :)

Thanks, that does help alot. I really appreciate the suggestions. I thought that Spike McFang kinda looked like a action/RPG. By the way is Addams Family Values kinda like a Action/RPG or Goof Troop or something like that?

Yes, and it's made by Square. There's no castles, no wizards, but you can level up yourself, friends, and equipment; you can take a friend into battle. It's also quite linear (the few secrets won't likely be found without a walkthrough since they're just thrown in randomly; there's really no reasons to revisit areas, unfortunately). It's more action than RPG, but so are many of the titles on this list.

Let's not forget about Seiken Densetsu 3 people, also known as Secret of Mana 2, although it's more like a prequal than anything.
It's SFC, but the ROM was hacked and translated a lot time ago, and a nice job at that too. You've got 6 playable characters, 2 class changes [leading to 4 possible end classes], and 3 possible heroes per game. The 100% type battle system in Mana 1 has be changed, I find it a lot more entertaining.
Do check it out.

My favorite is Illusion of Gaia. Most of the time I'm the exact opposite. I'm not much on action RPG's.

Soulblazer is easily my favorite in this genre for the SNES. But since it's been mentioned a few times already I'll give a shout out to Secret of Evermore.

Perhaps this isn't quite qualified, but Super Metroid has action and RPG elements in it. And that's my favorite game ever, so it gets my vote. 8)

Lagoon is a little played action/RPG for the SNES. Of course, it will take a bit of getting used to as your sword has the length comparable to if you extended your index finger towards you enemy. If you enjoy a challenge then pick this one up. The story is light, but you travel to different varied locations and fight a variety of monsters. Fighting is more of waiting for the right opening, slashing the enemy with your sword, and then retreating to wait for another opening.
Secret of Evermore was another decent action/adventure/RPG game. As long as you don't play the game expecting it to be a sequel to Secert of Mana, you will leave the game satisfied. Features include having your dog travel with you as a companion, as well as tinkering with alchemy elements.

Has anybody mentioned any games that are way more RPG than Action?
What I mean is, I like my Action/RPG's to be pretty damn simple, and much more action oriented, and not so much like leveling up and stuff like that.
For example, I mentioned Dungeon Explorer on the TG-16, because it's pretty damn basic, and it's really not even a RPG if you think about it. I mean technically, I guess they could put it in that category, but it's much more of an overhead shooter, except with a little Wizard or Elf or something.
And Zelda isn't very deep either. It's really pretty basic. Mostly action and puzzles and light on the "true" RPG elements.
So I'm definitely looking for pretty simple Action/RPG's, that have a much greater emphasis on action, and are a bit lighter and easier to get into. They can have some puzzles, although I'm not interested in a game with really hard puzzles, keep em kinda simple like a Zelda, and it can have all the trappings of a RPG, but I'm mostly looking for games that would almost be considered a clone of a game like Link to the Past or Dungeon Explorer (tg-16) or Neutopia (tg-16).
Although I haven't had the chance to really play much of Crusader of Centi (Genesis) and Shining Wisdom (Saturn), I think those two games are also in that same type of vein that I'm looking for.
