kinda weird PSX request

ok, i need some input on this

what i'm trying to do is compile a list of PSX games i want/need. Now, that doesn't sound very special, but there are some twists to it

1) NO RPGs, there are plenty of lists on those

2) NO 2D games, i already know them

3) NO Racing games, those are obvious

4) NO Vs. Beat em Ups (Tekken..)

5) NO games released in equally good or better versions on these systems: SNES, Saturn, N64, Dreamcast

see, it's quite complicated, but i was wondering what the PSX really has to offer!

now, a good example to start with would be Devil Dice!!

so, here's the list so far, divided up into "obscure" and "mainstream"

MGS has a better remake on GC (like RE)
Tony Hawk 1+2 are on DC too (and better)
Madden is on Saturn (well, the earlier ones), and of course madden makes no sense as every new madden is better!!
Tomb Raider 1+2 are on SAT, right? 3 on DC

edit: can't find any info on Viva Football

hey there Kristine, i had hoped you'd hop in here ;)

i'm looking for both, this list should not be a unique titles list and not a popular titles list, what i want to achieve is a list of stuff worth buying if you're not going for a complete set anyway. this of course includes both well-known games and obscure ones... i will check every game mentioned here and decide if it goes on the list ;)

i excluded 2D stuff because everyone would list all those 2D games again and again ;) RPGS and the other ones because we know them already, if you have a very obscure beat em up or racer, feel free to share though

the most important part is the exclusive to/best version on PSOne part as i will have complete sets of the mentioned systems some day

I wouldnt put doom on that list, Doom 64 is MUCH better then the PSX version.

Have you thought about party games? Or those weird titles that never make it outside of Japan?

For example, Bishi Bashi Special. That did get a release though, although I believe it's pretty uncommon. Very surrealistic. I wish I bought it when I had the chance.

Now for some titles that are Japan only and weird. Let's take, Denshya De Go [even though I think that made it to PS2 eventually], a train simulator. Or Ore No Ryori, it's about cooking. Or of course dating sims which I love, like Tokimemo. That was originally for PCE but it's sequals made it to many other consoles.

Jumping Flash! 1 and 2. Best damned FPS series ever on the PSX. Silent Bomber... it's like Bomberman and Contra had a bastard love child. Some 2D games you might not be familiar with, Qix Neo and Gekioh Shooting King... cheap-o games that don't pretend to be anything more than they are, which is simple fun. Klonoa: Door to Phantomille for 3D sidescrolling platformer action. Twisted Metal 2... the definitive TM game on the PSX.
