View Full Version : NES Promo Games on eBay Switzerland?

Found for some minutes these eBay auctions:

Are these real or Fake, or maybe Prototypes? The Dragon's Lair Game looks fake for me, because it has a videocassette sticker on it. Why should a Promo / Prototype have a videocassette sticker on the case? Never see it before.
Or has someone ever see NES games with videocassette stickers? O_O
When its fake I think Willow is maybe too Fake, but this has a different sticker on the case. So who knows if they real or not?

I 'dunno, at the game companies I've worked at, shipping out a demo with a crappy label like that seems pretty common. Stuff we develop for PS1, PS2 & X-Box are usually just burnt onto a generic CD/DVD-R and written on with a marker.
"As cheaply as possible" seems to be the motto of all developers, and what's cheaper than using a VHS label you had lying around?
I think the Willow one looks real...though the Dragon Lair proto does look a bit odd...I dunno dude.

No way to tell without opening them, but at a glance, they seem real enough to me.

Willow arrived today. Looks great and I am sure its real. Here some scans.

Now I must only test it, if this work and if this is maybe different. :)
EDIT:
Game work. First I have think I found a different, but this is only, because I own the Europe Version from this game as original. This has a different text in the titlescreen. I check the Willow (U) ROM, and this has the same text as the Prototype. But I found no Europe ROM, this contains a different text then the USA Version.
Examples in the titlescreen:
(U) = spirits & (E) = gods
(U) = opossum & (E) = possum
And there are maybe more, but these I found after look only some seconds at the text.
The (E) ROM is not dumped yet, or have I just not found it? Must be much Rarerer game then the USA version.

Got Dragon's Lair a few days ago and opened it up and can confirm it's legit.
