Well, after much debate, I've decided to reveal to you all that I do actually own one of these cartridges, along with the original items that were given to contestants, such as the "strategy guide" by GamePro Magazine and Blockbuster Video as well as the "Stuff You Need To Know" official rule book.
FYI: Back in 1995, I signed up for the competition but didn't show up to compete. My loss. ;;
Please don't mind the gas mask. I just don't like people to see my face. Why? Because I'm still a fan of the legendary EGM Reviewer "Sushi-X" and I want to keep a mysterious aura. LOL

i'm not talking about the NINTENDO DKC one, i was asking if there's a Blockbuster one too (as DKC is mentioned on those pics), or IS the DKC Comp a Blockbuster cart?

Yes it is. The box states it is from blockbuster.

Cool comments.
Out of curiousity, exactly how rare is the Genesis cart compared to the DKC SNES cart?
I just took a look at the documentation that I have and the only games available for play were the following:
Genesis:
NBA Jam T.E.
Judge Dredd
SNES:
Donkey Kong Country
I just find it a bit strange that they didn't have the same games for both platforms, especially since both NBA Jam T.E. and Judge Dredd were released for both the SNES and Genesis (if I remember correctly) around the same time.

It was great, I use to at one time have the booklet that they gave you, but unfortunatly that's long been gone
though the sad thing is I knew i could have won it and ended up doing horrible lol.
that's ok i was young than.

As far as I know, this is much, much scarcer than the DKC Comp cart, but I'm sure the 16-bit experts will weigh in soon with their opinion.

Considering the dkc cart comes up every once in a while and I believe only two people have been confirmed to have the genesis blockbuster cart, the latter is a LOT rarer. I have a feeling that if I ever come close to finishing genesis, I may call it quits before bothering to find a BB comp cart ;D.
Awesome pictures. It's really cool to get a good look at the cart finally, I've never seen a decent picture of it. All the extra documentations are quite impressive as well.

You know, even being a Genesis fanboy, I have such minor interest in this cart. That's not to say that this "revealing" isn't at all a big deal, but considering how much it would cost on the collector's market, it's totally not worth it to me. Neat item, but the games used on there are pathetic. At least in the case of the NWC cart, the selection consists of "classics" for the system. I don't collect NES at all, but would rather have the NWC than this one if I had to choose. I'd be happy to find the Blockbuster cart for 5 bucks somewhere and just add it to my collection, but man do I find it boring.

Shit! :eek 2:
It's in a different league entirely to the DKC cart - this is only the 2nd known copy of the Genesis one - weren't there something like 2500 copies of the SNES cart?

Hi Lothars.
Those sure were the days back in the mid 90's, weren't they? Back when games were 'maxed out' at 16-Bits and when those FMV games were supposedly the 'wave of the future'. LOL
Since I never got a chance to participate in the competition, (although I did sign up to be in the Genesis one) which platform did you play on? The Genesis or the SNES?

Thanks for the compliments. :)
I'm just glad that my old digital camera is still able to take good pictures.
The cart itself is not too impressive; It's just that white label that only spans the front of the cart and not the top of it.
The back of the cart is also of some interest. Instead of bearing the "SEGA" logo which is usually etched in the plastic, the company name "ACCLAIM" is etched in place. Is that something else to be of interest?

Kind of. Acclaim published Genny games all have that molded into the back.

Awesome cart man. I couldn't even imagine having anything that rare and sought after. Are you going to sell it, or do you just want to show the world how super sick your game is? If you do sell it, don't take anything under a grand!

Hi there. Thanks for the nice comments.
Actually, I wasn't exactly sure how rare this was until I was notified by the very cool portnoyd about how rare this really is.
As for selling it, I would seriously have to consult with some of my close friends as well as some people within the video game community whom I feel to be experts.
I've also got ALL of the documentation, so maybe that might change things a bit.

I remember being on the leaderboard too for about 2 days (I placed 10th overall), but was actually at 3rd for those 2 days.
I played the SNES dkc one.

Cool.
Did you get on the 'leaderboard'?
I remember getting on the leaderboard for the 1994 BBVGC for playing the NBA Jam and TMNT Tournament fighters games for SNES.
Sadly, I was already in the bottom spot on the leaderboard, so my score was put out to pasture within a few days of making it on there.

I am going to revive this thread BECAUSE I have searched and searched the web for information/a thread such as this one to relive my nostalgic memories I hold inside!!!!!!!!
I was a finalist in Fort Lauterdale, Florida for the SNES side of things in the 1994 blockbuster finals, I represented the province of Ontario For Canada. I remember i was kickin everyones butt score wise in the local store competition and then eventually was sent to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto to compete against everyone in the province in NBA Jam, head to head. I remember literally being there for 2 hours or more it seemed knocking down opponent after opponent and the last dude I played just simply slaughtered him arse!
I am going to post my pics I have as well from this amazing era of gaming boy do I really miss the days of the 90's no care in the world, play video games, basksetball, hockey and wait to compete nationwide in SNES related comps!
I never signed up for the Sega side of things because I was always a Nintendo guru and kicked butt in SNES games. The person that started this thread i salute you hopefull you're still on these forums as i see this thread was started over a year ago. Anyways I am rambling but I will dig up what I have and post up pics I believe I have the competition cartridge as well but for the 94 finals and for the snes side of things, it was nba jam (special 1 quarter thing) and something else I can't remember its been over 12 years!
WOW THE MEMORIES though I hope I can share them with fellow people, anyone on these forums that actually made it to the finals in Florida in 94???
I placed 3rd in the worlds i was very dissapointed because I did not have a chance to write my own review for GamePro magazine, win more money ontop of what I had already received and put my face in some game that was made for the PC I believe.
