View Full Version : HEEEEELP!!!! VECTREX minestorm (question about levels)

After level 13 (if it didn't reset) it jumped aroound from level to level but not always the same levels. Does any one have a list of which level numbers exist and also at the end you shoot the mines and no more come, is that the end of the game? And what is the level layout for minestorm 2, last level, what numbers, ect. Please point me to any info about the level design and any info about the game in general THANKS TGP

"All" the levels exist, but the game may or may not crash at level 13 (or soon after). After level 13 the mines become dots or specks. The level layout is the same with Mine Storm 2 w/o the level bug.

NOT TRUE, I do not think all the levels exist! I think you skip some randomly but I think some are not there at all and is 86 or 78 (something like that) the end? You shoot the big one and the dots don't replace them? and that's the end? I was looking for something along the lines of

LEVELS 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 EXIST

LEVELS 14, 50, ect DON'T EXIST

I thank you for the link but it does not help. I stated this topic a while back and no one has been able to help. This was very important to me as a child and thought about this again this year and figured someone here would know. Maybe this game was not that popular or no one is reading this, I always assumed that minestorm was a well known classic. (This is like when I spent a summer making a map of all the extra parts of metroid that are not on the official map. I explored everything and drew a detailed map to scale)

"Each level of Mine Storm is described by an entry in an array of structures; the array entry described such details as the types of mines at the level, etc. Unfortunately, the array was only defined to contain 13 entries! That's why the first 13 levels work as expected. However, once you got past level 13, the game ran out of array entries, but because it did not check for this, it simply used the next block of code after the array, as the information describing the next level. The code was smart enough to skip levels if there were no valid mines; that's why it occasionally skips levels."

So, if you are playing the one with the bug, there is only code for the first 13 levels. If you are playing with either of the other two versions of the game, I don't think it ever ends, but I don't think that it has ever been proven either way.

NOW THAT WAS EXTREMELY HELPFULL!

Thanks and if anyone else has played to the end level in any versions I would be interested in hearing your experiences. Such as the last level? where one very slow fireball comes towards you and when you shoot it nothing happens (it does not create more mines)
