View Full Version : Do you collect Japanese cabs?

Within the next year or two I'll be moving to Japan again. Since I ship my household goods (furniture, clothes...motorcycle) for free, I'm thinking about picking up a couple/few arcade cabs while I'm there. Do any of you have any non-DDR style Japanese cabs? A question on the side, Googling isn't helping me figure out what they'll call a game over there. Nobody's gonna know what I'm talking about when I'm screaming Pacman all over the place. "Pacman. Paacman. Pacman! PAAACMAN!! ...oh, Puckman. Thanks." Anybody happen to know where to find a database on this sorta thing?

I have a Capcom Impress.

You wanna get me a cab while you're there and ship it for free? (I'll pay for the cab of course) 8-)

Japanese cabs are usually called Candy Cabs.

I would collect them if I lived on the west coast. Shipping costs for the rest of us are not very friendly, so just having one candy cab (Taito Egret) up here in the northeast feels like a collection. I'd love more, though.

Yeah, I'd love a Japanese cab too, but shipping is a bitch.

I would love some since that's what I grew up with. :D

First of all I'd like a Taito Space Invaders cabinet, and 2nd, I would like to have a Taito Space Invaders Part II cabinet (much more rare). And if I could ever find a Taito Defender (very unlikely) I think I would jizz 8-)

I have a SNK Japanese cab in the garage. I've *always* wanted a Capcom one with the Capcom logo on the side and the flip up monitor cover (but settled for the SNK cab...this was before Arcade Infinity...when you bought and lived with whatever Japanese cab happened to prop up). *sigh* I don't have the cash, unfortunately, to collect arcade machines like I use to...otherwise I'd hit you up for the free shipping. =P

Related topic...check out fillmoregames.com I use to use them for boards...never pulled the trigger on a cab because of the shipping rates

I never heard of this.

You got a pic?

Is it a candy cab? I always thought the Impress was their only candy cab.

I don't have any pics. It was 97/98 when I saw it. I am probably mistaking it for an Impress, but I haven't seen anything like it available in the states. Searching around, I can't even find pics of Capcom's mini-cute cabs anymore (did anyone here ever pick one of those up? They seemed a little too gimmicky to me, being as small as they were).

Three cabs I'd pick up if I were you (if they're around):

Akumajo Dracula (yeah, nobody outside of the CV community likes this one, but I'd love to have one)
Contra (KON TO RAAA) and maybe SUPER KON TO RAAA
Rastan Saga/RS 3 (RS 3 is huge though)
The Ninja Warriors
maybe some sort of Street Fighter series cab
F2/F3 systems
A CPS series system/Neo-Geo cab (fairly obvious picks)
Genshi-Tou 1930's (Prehistoric Isle in 1930)

I'd get some other stuff too...that'd be nice. I bet shipping would be pure hell, though.

I fully plan on buying the first Capcom mini-cute that turns up for sale within 500 miles of me. I think they're space-efficient. And cute!

Well the Capcom Impress is just white, with pink/blue stickers, that say Impress on the sides, front and in between the speakers at the top, the only Capcom logo is a small one near the top. There is no monitor cover.

Better yet, here's a pic. (doesn't have the marquee/flyer holder in place)

I could get you pics of the mini cute if my ip gets unbanned at neo-geo.com LOL

I get two free moves...the one there and the one home. LOL Sorry guys...we'll talk when I move back and you all can have the extra weight I don't use.

Nope. I wish I had a pic. My use of "monitor cover" may be misleading. It was just the standard "flip open to reveal front of monitor" hood that most Japanese cabinets have. I remember something possibly having to do with getting to the board tray via opening the hood. God. My memory is really fuzzy now. =P

Anyways. They were straight Capcom of Japan CPS-2 era machines. I distinctly remember big good ole' yellow and blue "Capcom" decals on both sides of the upper region.

Now it is bugging the hell out of me. I may have to dig through some old Japanese Street Fighter tournament footage to try and find a picture I can cap. =P I know I am not imagining this cabinet.
