Well, I have been playing Street Fighter 2 my whole life, but just recently started playing it alot again on my SNES. I was starting to think that M Bison was 100% impossible on the normal difficulty (3 stars I think), but I just beat him less than 5 minutes ago. :D The ending was sweet with Ryu walking in the sunset and then doing uppercuts into the waterfall. I thought the graphics in the waterfall part were pretty damn impressive for the SNES.
Are there any SF 2 masters on here? Can anyone beat the game on 7 stars? I usually only play as Ryu (since I only have the World Warrior version), and Vega always gives me tons of problems.
If anyone has a rad SF 2 story to tell , or anything at all about the game, tell away! \^_^/

I have not tried that one on the highest difficulty.
But I have on all of the other street fighters.
Most of the newer fighters I can beat easier on the hardest setting , like tekken 5 for example is way wasier on the hardest setting.

Original snes sf2 on level 7? Yeah I could beat it without dying.. a couple billion times. But then again I haven't done that in about 12 years or so :P
You get the special ending that shows the credits, then the group photo, then chun-li says 'ya ta'.. or is that on sf2 turbo(?).

when I was a kid I beat M. Bison on Difficult mode with E Honda as my character, and I did it without taking a hit from M bison at all, no damage taken.

congrats...I'm a big street fighter fan....so my fav SF2 ending is w/ Zangief, the dance seen w/ the Gorbashav ( i think) is just funny as hell. it took me up untill 11th grade to get his 360 moves down to a science...now i only use him

good for you. I find that the original SF2 for SNES is the hardest of all the SF games on the SNES at the defualt difficulty. SF Alpha 2 if find to be the easiest. I've betten that game hundreds of times. If you haven't played Alpha on the SNES yet you should the graphics are pretty good for the SNES. Back to the orgingal SF2 I've beaten it a few times with Ryu but only on the 3 star level. As much as I love 2D fighters I'm not that good at them. I guess I just love the artwork of 2D fighters.

I usually play the game on the default setting, but lately I've brought it up to the highest just for fun (level 7?). For the most part, the computer still has the patterns you can take advantage of, but I'll ALWAYS have trouble when I get to Vega. And I seem to realize (at least when I play) that Balrog isn't as cheap as the lower difficulties. I hate the damn split second charge moves the A.I. has always been able to do. :/

I used to think Bison was a pain in the ass until I started playing 3rd Strike... good lord, Gill is such a cheap bitch.

Congratulations, it only took you 12 years! :) Just kidding, lol. I once considered myself the best in the world at the SNES version. Chun Li was who I was best as. I always played at the hardest level (at least when I got good). At one point, I got so cocky that if I even lost one single round, I shut the game off, even if I was all the way up to Vega. :) At my peak, I got about 11 perfect rounds in one game, and a knockout with 91 (I think, it's been awile) seconds left. I haven't played the game in about 8 years, but I just ordered it from ebay, and I'm ready to come out of retirement. 8-)

Back in the day I could clock Turbo on the SNES at lvl 7 with every character. I'd imagine I'm a bit rusty these days tho...

Likewise :)
Zangief was always the hardest because he can't duck Sagat's high Tiger shots. Always needed to jump or using the spinning lariat to deal with them.

Either you are the worst gamer ever or a very slow learner! Just kidding! Way to go. I still remember the feeling of beating SF2 on my SNES without losing a single round. I was obsessed with the game when it first came out.

Wow, I guess I have some practicing to do! I think that I am pretty good, but level 7 is damn hard! I beat the first two characters yesterday, but stupid Blanka kicked my ass.
Who does everyone use? I think that Ryu is by far the best character, but that's because he's the only person I am good with (know his combos and all). I can imagine Chun Li being good, just because she is faster than hell, but Zangief is slower than a sloth, and his moves suck.

As I said, I could use everyone after enough practice, but Guile, Zangeif & Dhalsim are usually my first choices (never did like the shotos ;) )
All characters have their pros & cons, but Ryu/Ken/Akuma just bore me. It's much more fun beating seven shades of snot out of someone with an 'oddball' like Dhalsim :)

I used to pick Ken/Ryu almost 90% of the time. Now I stick with Guile most of the time. He's got insanely powerful kicks and they have good range. I just love his anti-air attack also. My main three characters now are Guile/Zangief/E. Honda.
One of the most infuriating things about the Level 7 difficulty, is that once the AI does the move where they hold you for an amount of time (eg; Dhalsim's head punches, Blanka's bites), the match is pretty much over. Once I get that move done to me I just lay the controller down. There is nothing more I can do. :( :( :(

Ryu all the way.

heh.. in the early days I was the first person at the local arcade to Master Zangief's 360 piledriver move and he remained my character of choice for a long long time. Man I used to piss of the people who played Dahlsim. I got the timing down so good I could hit his arms and legs as they came toward me, instead of having get in real close and really grapple with him.
When I was at my best on the SNES version (At the time I was managing a game store) I would allow my opponent to select my character and turn off all but one button. Imagine getting your ass kicked by a character that can only use it's weakest kick.
Now I have no one to play against, so my skills have dropped. And it takes me about 3 games at the arcade to get comfortable with the a character. Still I'm not nearly as good as I once was...

I could also beat SF2 with every character when I was a kid, Ken and Guile were my favorite, nowadays I just use Ken.
And as for glitches, I remember when I was akid I was playing around with the sound tests so much that I would unlock sound effects that weren;t even actually in the game!
