:? Why did the people who rate games go and make up an E 10+. What kind of games would qualify under this rating. I think this is just getting ridiculous. What's next E 21+.

I know Donkey Kong: Junglebeat falls into this category. I think a game that would have fallen into this category is SSB:M, which got a rating of Teen.

There are at least 2 "Elmo" (Sesame Street) games on N64 and PS. If you look farther back there are several Sesame Street games on NES as well. "Mario is Missing" and "Mario's Time Machine" was geared to kids (possibley nder 10) as well.

There was the Sega Pico. And now there's the VTech 'something'. A system with games along the lines of Pico.

Basically before E10+, any game with ANY weapon in it, regardless of how fantasy-based or anything, would get a teen rating.

Super Smash Brothers Melee is a great example, that game does NOT deserve a teen rating.

Now games that have violence, but are of a clearly imaginary or fantastic setting, will get that rating.

And I do think it's funny that there's an entire rating of difference between 17 (M) and 18 year olds (AO)

There's also an EC Early Childhood rating for those Elmo games.

Reread the post, and to answer more accurately...

Games under E10, fitting in E, but not EC, would be things like...

Puzzle Games
Racing games
Sports games
Animal Crossing

Non-violent, non-adult games of the kind not meant for 4 year olds ;)

I'm just wondering why they keeped the E on it. If it was indeed for everyone it wouldn't say 10+ on it. They're just going to start making things even more confusing for the casual gamers parent reading the label on the box.

Err, it seems I missed the point of the original post. My mistake. ^^;

There's a discussion about this already in progress:
