I apologize for opening a topic for this, but does anyone have the link to the page with detailed instructions on how to make a Starfox 2, or any SNES cart for that matter? I can't seem to find it anywhere and I am hell-bent on doing this.

Get a college degree in game design and you'll be all set. 8-)

i think he means putting your own rom on a snes cart. there are some people here whove made reproduction NES carts and i know for a fact a guy here made dragon warrior 6 (i think) on a snes cart.

the first name that comes to mind is leonk (DP member) but he mostly deals in NES carts but i bet he could do a SNES cart if he wanted too.

Exactly. Unless they're a born genious or have done a lot of home studying, they'd need to go to college to learn how to design a game.

here you are

that's the guy who actually fixed the StarFox2 rom, so you won't find a better ressource on this :)

Exactly what I was looking for. I had stumbled upon it some time ago, but couldn't find it again. Off to work. Now, to get that EEPROM programmer...

So.... you're agreeing that you're wrong? Do you read any of the posts you reply to? Are you a re-incarnation of R-zone/Rocky?
At any rate, you may want to just look into having someone make the cart for you if you only need that ONE. Find someone who knows how to do it, and pay them. cheaper, faster, and easier than buying and learning everything just to have one cart.

So, does anyone know anyone who does this? I tried the guy who does the nes reproductions and who may have also done that Dragon Warrior 6 cart, but he did not get back to my 2nd e-mail. I believe he is in the midst of a family emergency, so I'm sure that's taking up a big chunk of his time.
I'd be willing to pay some $$$ for someone to get a few SNES carts together for me!!!
:D
FYI the StarFox 2 rom works on the Xbox SNES emulator. I was thinking about making a cart so I could run it on the SNES but since I got my Xbox modded and it runs so well on there, I'm happy with that. Plus I can play it in component video with my wireless Xbox controller :)
Just another option.

I have been using a soft-modded Xbox for years now. The SNES emulator for the Xbox leaves allot to be desired. I haven't done extensive checks on the accuracy of FX chip emulation, but the DSP1 emulation is pretty shakey. Super Mario Kart has noticable issues on the Xbox compared to a real SNES.

yeah, i don't think SF2 emulation is anywhere near perfect on that emu, it's not even perfect with standard snes9x and zsnes
I haven't played StarFox 2 extensively, but didn't notice any abnormalities when running it on Xsnes9x on the Xbox. It does have problems with Mario Kart, that is true, but SF2 doesn't seem to run into any snags.

umm, the reason why someone would be interested in making a dedicated snes cart would be to avoid using emulators and play it on real hardware, no?

I was going to do the Starfox 2 as a fun little project, and while I was at it, make English versions of Rendering Ranger & Rockman & Forte.

I always enjoy seeing "genius" misspelled.

I understand the desire to do that, I was just offering another option for playing it on your TV rather than on your computer. More power to you if you want to construct an SNES cart!
I also wondered if any of the SNES backup units would be able to play it, that would be another way to run it without building a cart, and it'd be on actual SNES hardware for the purists. ;)

one day i can play a cart containing my never released "the shadow" and "tenchi wo kurai" into the snes and pretend it was just another usual title.

well, probably these will be actual releases in the future, you know, with the roms floating around, maybe some independent publisher (like telegames hehehe) decides to publish some unreleased but completed snes games and gets the right to do so...

Backup units cannot play games that use the FX chip. The only special chip games that backup units can play are the DSP1 games (Mario Kart, Pilot Wings, etc). The total games that backup unit, copier, or flash carts can NOT play is less than 1 percent of the total SNES library. But then again, that 1 percent contains some really cool games such as Super Mario RPG, Star Fox, Star Fox 2, and a few other great games.
Personally, I am a purist. So I have a few backup units, a flash cart (tototek.com), and the rest I own as carts.

you dont need to go to college to learn how to make games or game hardware
you dont have to go to college to learn anything
you need to go to college to get that peice of paper that says you were there
you can learn how to make the cart hardware on your own
just pick up an electronics book a micro processor book and youll learn the basics - its not a big deal
