my 3 are

1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the arcade game(nes): Pizza Hut was all over this game.

2.YO!NOID (nes): For those of you who are too young to remember, The Noid was this annoying claymation creature from the 80's that ate your Dominoes Pizza. They gave him his own game, go figure. AVOID THE NOID, nuff said.

3.Spot(nes) That loveable 7up character from the 80's has his own game. How cute

I though you meant best placement of a videogame product in a movie/tv show.

In which case: the vectrex in Android.

How about that Chester Cheetah game? He had his own game. Didn't Pepsi Man or whatever have his own game as well?

Biker Mice From Mars had Snickers all through it.

Zool has Chuppa Chupps every now and then

If you changed "best" to "least shitty," I'd say Pizza Hut in TMNT and Dole in Super Monkey Ball.

How about Mario 3 in The Wizard (and Nintendo in general)?

I know that's a little different, but I guess it still fits.

The use of "Red Bull" in WipeOut XL...which I thought was just another "company" billboard thought up by The Designer's Republic...nice marketing ploy to use on the US

My thoughts EXACTLY. No one in the US had any idea what Red Bull was at that point (1995/1996) I remember learning that it was a drink and mail ordering some. Years later it becomes insanely popular, long after Wipeout fans are already onto the next thing (as usual) 8-)

Just remembered Nokia on some billboards in Driv3r. Not sure what the connection is there, but then there never usually seems to be one.

Take me to KFC! I need to get to the Levi's Store! To Tower Records, on the double!

Why would someone want to go to KFC, anyways?

MGS's Psycho Mantis reading your mind [as in mem card] for other Konami saves. I wish they expanded on that a lot more. All I can say is that whole dialogue with him was hilarious.

I too thought this meant video games in movies. The best placement int hat respect is the MicroVision in Friday the 13th III.

As for ads in video games, I guess it's the ad I notice least.

Sorry, I just glossed over your post and didn't see the bottom portion of it.

I remember an article that said the programmers at Psygnosis were living off of Red Bull while programming WO2097/XL.

Let's see...
Crazy Taxi has a Tower Records, KFC and a Calvin Klein store in it....not to mention the heavy use of "The Offsrping"

parasite eve 2's use of coca cola was pretty tasteful. there was a bottlecap magnet and a soda (obviously) with the logo on it. nothing to distract you.

i love bitching about the soundtracks of the most recent GTA. i'd take generic wannabe-90s bands over the overloaded crap that slapped onto the actual soundtrack. it could have been worse though, and played modern shit that rides the current radio day and night.

Biker Mice From Mars had Snickers all through it.

the american version didn't have the snickers ads

Pepsiman did have a game

UFO Kamen Yakisoban for the SFC was pretty much placement for a ramen company

but the funniest product placement I've seen was Need for Speed Underground 2 in Burnout 3...why would in god's green earth would you promote another racing game in yours (Granted I'm pretty sure it was the big wigs of EA who demanded it but still...why)

I liked the Saturn in Shenmue.

Of course, it was a Sega game, but I'd still count that as product placement.

Of course, thus, my second choice is the SNES in Pokemon blue/red :D

Uh, I wouldn't count that as product placement. You have to pay for product placement.

You can get Coke and Sprite and I think a couple other name brand Soda's in the Japanese version of Shenmue! :)

I just wish they were in the US version... :(
