Hey gang,

Neglected to post this when the Mystery Game ended earlier this month. The Mystery Sound was from the Atari vector arcade game "Major Havoc." Well, I got this entry for the contest:

That sound is from MY video game Major Havoc, Atari 1984! In fact, I can tell from the speed of the sound that it actually came from a conversion kit unit, and not an original Major Havoc. Just in case you wanted to know.

Owen R. Rubin

Very cool that the programmer/designer/creator of the game actually entered the contest. He didn't win the random drawing, but talk about having an inside track!

Mr. Rubin can be quite vocal at times... Or so it would seem from a letter here (http://www.classicgaming.com/mailbag/mail185/).

Damn... I thought it might have been from that, but didn't enter. Ah well, next time!

That rant by Owen at the link above is right on the money :)

Major Havoc is easily one of *the best* games ever designed. Ever.

<yet another shameless plug>

Owen Rubin will be at Classic Gaming Expo. Feel free to dress up like Major Havoc and run up to him quickly with a plastic gun.

You should also do that to the security folks. Keeps 'em on their toes.
