I went to 2 local Blockbuster(as local as I have in the boonies 30 minutes away)
They have trade any 3 Xbox, PS2, GC games and get any
preowned game for $5
I thought good deal but it got even better.
I took 3 games to first store SF EX plus Alpha, DOA 2, and Midway's Arcade. He told me then that I had $15.90 store
credit. Then I got the game for $5, and still had $10.90
in store credit left.
So I got Mercenaries for $5 and then Evolution Worlds for $10 Both Complete
AFter that Luck I went to another Blockbuster and traded
in Brute Force disc only, Contra Shattered Soldier, Soul Calibur 2, fight night 2004, espn basketball, slipheed.
I got $33 store credit for the 6 games and then got
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory complete $5
Paper Mario 1,000 Year Door $5 complete
then still had $$ left over and got
X-men Legends xbox complete and Castlevania SOTN Factory Sealed
I might have to go buy some bargain bin sports games and take them in :)

Are sports games accepted? Usally they're pretty picky about having sports titles during these type of deals.

It's pretty safe to say that the sports games wont be accepted, but it doesn't depend store to store, it depends on how loyal to blockbuster the person at the register is. At first they couldn't do anything about it (See original thread: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36190&highlight=blockbuster )
But now they've empowered the employees to be as big of dicks as they like. They can deny anyone for whatever reason, and if they feel like it they can deny sports titles. Some stores have even removed all sports titles from their buyback quantities, in that case the system wont even let them take the title back.
Completely random as to which stores will let you get away with how much.
EDIT: Looking back on that other thread, that was probably one of my greatest triumphs ever.

Alright, I gotta know something. I always see these awesome BB trade-in deals, but I never know if they're for regular BB or just the ones with a game rush store. I know the blockbuster around here has used games...if it works in those, I'll be very happy. so, does anyone know?

It should. The only difference now between Gamerush and regular BB is (technically) gamerush carries hardware. All the deals should apply at all BB's.

I don't think it's about empowering employees to be dicks, but empowering employees to know their own inventory. If you know your store has three copies of Madden 2003 sitting on the shelf, why should you have to take them as tradein? I would assume that most managers give instructions as to what can be traded in and what can't be.

Are you kidding? I'll give a garantee that 100% of Blockbuster store managers have no clue as to why some games are in demand and why some aren't. They're totally clueless to the entire medium. They strictly rely on the people that have actual videogame knowledge (read: The people that don't mean shit to the store), and it's strictly up to them.
And you should "have to" take them as tradein unless your advertisements specifically state that there is a list of omitted titles.

what is CAG and what do you mean "abuse"
how can you "abuse" a deal like that - by tradeing in crap games ? hell why would you trade in good games if you can trade in crap -- if they dont say whats excluded then thats thiwer fault not the gamer making the trade

Ho-o-ly shit. I didn't abuse this deal, but my friend sure did. Goddamn. He started out with 3 old ps2 games and ended up with 2 PSP systems, just from shuffling from one store to the next and trading in. What he'd do is trade in, get a high-credit used title, use the leftover credit to pick up some cheap used games (buy 1 get one half off) and rework his magic at another store. Quite simple plot if you think about it.

There was a similar deal, last summer I think it was, except ps1 games were also permitted. I was particularly motivated to take advantage of it, and made several hundred dollars. I can't believe they're still doing this stuff.

As long as they keep bringing people into the stores, they're obviously still profiting from the secondary sales if they continue to offer stuff like this.
