I've been eyeing this product with some interest, as I'd love to play my older systems on my LCD, but I'm not sure if it's worth getting. Does anyone use it/ like it? Do the composite video and S Video inputs offer a good picture? The RGB input is great, but I'm wondering if it's actually feasible to use... would re-arranging the pins on euro SCART cables available from lik sang to match the japanese RGB input work, and can euro SCART cables be used with an NTSC (US) console or are they PAL only? Thanks.

If you get one of these, then you absolutely need to use the Japanese RGB Scart cables for all your systems. Otherwise it isn't worth the investment.
The beauty of the XRGB2+ is the fact that it will take a native RGB signal, and upconvert it to 480p for a VGA type monitor to display.
It takes the absolutely best image that a non progressive scan console is able to provide, and then upconverts that to 640 x 480 progressive.
This is vastly superior than other upconverters, that take a much less desirable S-Video or Composite signal and upconvert them. You know what they say...... Bullshit in equals bullshit out.
So if you do get this device, then you absolutely need to track down the various Japanese RGB Scart cables that this device uses. The nice thing about it, is that you just need to get the standard Japanese RGB Scart cables, and they will just plug right in. Then the signal is line doubled, or upconverted to 640 x 480.
And another important thing. You don't want to do this on a LCD monitor. It's not going to be worth it at all for a LCD monitor. You need to get a regular CRT computer monitor to really take advantage of this.
You know what I was thinking about the XRGB2+?
If I got one of these things, I could actually hook it up to my Infocus X1 DLP projector. I would just need to get a VGA switchbox. But I could actually be playing my Saturn on a 113 inch screen in RGB video that has been converted to 640 x 480. The resulting image should be fantastic. It would be the best image I could get from a non 480p game system, and it would be presented in it's best form on a huge 113 inch screen.
Well, I definitely have to add the XRGB2+ to my wishlist. Too bad they cost a ton.
Oh, one last thing on this. I think the earlier versions of this product were actually superior to the XRGB2+. So you might want to read some online reviews of the XRGB2+, because I think some of them mention that the earlier version was actually better.

I have heard from a number of sources, that the original one is actually the better one to have. Only thing is, I can't remember what the main reasons were.
I just know that the people that reviewed the plus version, said that the original was still better, but that the plus version was good too. But there is something about the original one that makes it the better one to get than the plus version.

If I recall correctly, the pass-through quality is better on the original and it's compatible with arcade PCB-level signals off-the-box.

Thanks for the info Anthony1. One question: where the heck can I find japanese RGB cables? All I can find are euro SCART cables.

Great info in here guys, thanks.
Micomsoft made joysticks and ported software to the x68000, and did damn fine jobs of it. The major Sharp joystick, the Cyber Stick, got a Micomsoft rerelease. I guess Micomsoft picked up a license or something. Whatever the case is, they're apparently a good company. Too bad they don't make stuff for the states (far as I know).
