Super Famicom game name help

Anyone know what this game is called? I'll do my best to describe it. I watched a buddy play this on emulator on his laptop and it made me wanna track down a copy of it:

It's a side scrolling action game, fantasy/feudal Japanese setting. The player was a girl, then after the first level you play a RPG menu battle. It had that manga-type interface like the first SFC Yu Yu Hakusho.

I am gonna make 2 guesses at it.

It's either Umihara Kawase or one of the Zenki games.

Was the girl using a fishing rod? If not, then it definitely wasn't umihara kawase. So it might be one of those zenki games.

If it's one of the Zenki games, it isn't Battle Raiden, 'cause you play as the demon-lookin' guy in that one. And from what I remember, that one's the only platformer of the three Zenki games...

Definitely NOT Umihara Kawase...that one's pure platforming. Awesome game, though.
