I'm sure the results of this will probably point to control pad but here we go anyway.

What's your favorite type of controller?

- Joystick (2600, 5200, 7800, INTV, Colecovision, etc.)
- Standard Control Pad (NES, SNES, Gen, DC, PS/PS2, XBOX, etc.)
- Modified Control Pad (NES Max, modified 1st part, 3rd party, etc.)
- Arcade Style (NES Advantage, etc.)
- Virtual Reality (Power Glove, Power Pad, Dance Pad, etc.)
- Other (Please describe)

I'm a standard type person too. Especially considering the Sega Dreamcast controllers, IMHO the best ever that came standard with a system.

I can't vote yet... I want to say standard pad, but give me a few months. It might end up being a stylus.

i had to say other

to me they type of controler all depends on the game

flight sim - joy stick

platformer (with a bunch of moves) newer control pad

simpler (one button) game - atari style joysitck is fine

fighter - arcade stick

RTS - mouse and keyboard

Mech game + FPS - 2 stick joystick or 2 stick control pad (like XBOX or Dreamcast

I CANNOT use a gamepad.(I mean I can, I just don't like to) I grew up in the arcade and had an NES advanage at home, it's just how I play. See, I can't put the task of saving the galaxy from alien robots on just my thumbs; my left thumb/index finger/wrist control the movement, my right index finger fires the weapons, the middle finger is the best at jumping and the other fingers are good at launching special weapons or bringing up menus. That, and when I use a game pad my hands tend to hurt after awhile.

I just won't get a game system if it doesn't have an arcade joystick.

Oh, and you forgot to list the Power Glove.

-What IS that thing?
-I love the Power Glove. It's so bad...

Not sure who that was directed at. If you're referring to me, I didn't forget it. It's part of virtual reality and I even mentioned it. 8-)

I'm one for the standard d-pad myself, it's always been more comfortable in my hands, though that's not to say the others don't at this point...

The Odyssey2 joystick.

Wanna know how great it is?

I have brain damage (yeah, I know, anyone who loves the O2 this much must)that limits the use of my right hand.

I use my right hand for the O2 joystick.

Best. Joystick. Ever. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

I voted joystick. The Bug stick on the Amiga is the most comfortable controller I have ever used. Although I have grown used to control pads I do find I get a sore left thumb after prolonged use - this never happened when I played my old 8 bit computers and Amiga...

My favorite probably was the SNES controller, but the NES Max sure was awesome back in the day playing Track N' Field.

I guess I should have put a bit more thought into the poll concerning 'standard' but basically I mean NES to now, what came standard with the system.

Well I really liked all joysticks, especialy n64, and the PS2 dual analogs are nice. Sometimes the control pads are just a little clunky for my likings.

Those are more control pads than joysticks. A joystick is traditionally something that takes an entire hand to hold onto and control, not just a thumb.
