well, what can i say? the snes is easily my favourite system, and i'll let you know why...

back in 1991 i think, before the launch of the snes (which i didn't know about yet) i bought myself a NES. i loved it, played it to death. As soon as i got it i also got the then free Nintendo Club Magazines, and after a few issues they started covering the SNES. WOW, it looked fantastic, the games looked awesome, i just had gotten Super Mario Bros. 3 iirc and i saw Super Mario World and was like "DUDE, that looks so awesome". Well after a while the system arrived in Germany and a store i visited regularly had a unit with SMW in it. I played it and played it and played it, there were even rows of more than 10 people waiting to play the game @_@

Well, obviously i begged my parents to get me one, but noooooo, too expensive. In i think 1994 i lost interest in the NES, it was just too old, and i still hadn't gotten a SNES, so i quitted console gaming and started to play on my PC only, what a sad day :(

in i think it was 2000 i had so much money left and ebay.de was there that i decided to buy myself the SNES i never got. I got a nice lot with snes in box and like 15 boxed games for 100 bucks. Needless to say, this beauty got me back into console gaming, and i now have almost 200 snes games, most of them boxed. And the collection is of course growing every week :)

About favourite games, well, this is a very tough one for me, i actually don't have any, i love a lot of games, but none really stand out of the croud. Well, thinking of it, one actually does, and it's Zelda A Link to the Past, yeah, that would be my favourite i guess.

Other than that, i like RPGs (Terranigma, Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia....), Jump & Shoot (Turrican, Contra...), Jump & Run (SMW, Yoshis Island, DKC, Aladdin, Smurfs...), Racing (Rock n Roll Racing, Super Off Road, Super Mario Kart...), Beat em Ups (Final Fight, Turtles IV...), Tournamet Fighters (Street Fighter II, Fighters History....) , Sport Games (Super Tennis, NBA Jam, Jimmy Connors...) and other stuff (Cannon Fodder, Super Metroid, Castlevania...)

as you can see, i love almost every kind of snes game, i just love the 2D of that era...

- What is your favorite game on this system? Probably Super Mario Kart. We used to play that for hours on end.

- What are some of your other favorites? Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy II & III, Bubsy

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you? I was probably most surprised with the changes that were brought to Mario (and his worlds) in Super Mario World. So much grander than any of the worlds on the NES.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction? I believe that it was when I got it for Christmas the first year it was out (was that '91?). I couldn't wait to get home from my grandparents' house to try it out. My dad bought me Super Mario World for it and I couldn't put it down for days on end. This was the last console that my parents bought for me (the others were my NES and 2600).

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now? I have always owned the system. I really wish that I had kept the box for it and for my games from when I was a kid.

- How many games do you have for it? Currently, I'm sitting somewhere around 20 games for it. However, I still have several instructions books/maps for games that I no longer have (I miss my copy of FF III :( ).

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us? All I remember is getting yelled at alot by one of my cousin's parents for being up way to late playing Super Mario Kart.

I'm speaking on Super Famicom terms here, as much as I love the SNES and have owned one since way back, this is all referring to the Super Famicom.

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Gotta stick with Super Mario World, it was the first game I got for it. I bought it with the system.

- What are some of your other favorites?
Super Mario Kart by far!
Zelda: A link to the past.
Lost Vikings
Rock n Roll Racing
Super Metriod

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Suprise? Castlevania...I freaked the first time the screen rotated...I loved it. :)
- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
I only saw pictures of SMW, and had to have it.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
hehe Back in the day, hell yes! I was 15 and bought it for $700+ including SMW. I swear I was the first person in my town (Grande Prairie!!) to own one. I finished SMW before the SNES was released, but I never knew what the words were or the story until I played it on a SNES.
Now? I just bought one off eBay a few months ago and I love it.

- How many games do you have for it?
8 plus I picked up 3 others yesterday at Value Village, and a Super Gameboy adapter. :)

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
Well...after I payed over $700 for it, a few months later the SNES was released...and what did I do? Exchange the Super Fammy for the SNES. I got my ass ripped in that deal let me tell you, and that was the last time I EVER traded games or a system in again.

What is your favorite game on this system?
Stunt Race FX - which is also my favourite game of all time, as well.

What are some of your other favorites?
Axelay, Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, Killer Instinct, Kirby's Dream Course, Mario Paint, Donald in Maui Mallard, Mega Man X, Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing, Pilotwings, SimCity, Starwing, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Super International Cricket, Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Super R-Type, Terranigma, Tetris & Dr. Mario, Top Gear 3000, Unirally, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Biggest surprise? I would say I didn't expect Stunt Race FX to be such a great 3D racer. Definitely better than 16-bit Virtua Racing on Mega Drive. Infuriated? Pilotwings was pretty unforgiving.

Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

The first one I saw, I'm pretty sure it was my cousin's. Super Mario World was playing. I remember scoffing the 8-bit consoles in comparison to the my 286PC. But the SNES seemed a lot more powerful and it was the console that really pulled me into console gaming.

Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
The SNES was my first console. For $209AU I got the Super Mario All-Stars pack + bonus controller on September 9th 1995. I stupid sold it (plus the five games I accumulated for $120AU in August 1997). Today I have two PAL Super NES's (one yellowed, one not) and a Super Famicom.

How many games do you have for it?
Currently I have 32.

Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
Just the pain I endure to this day for trading it on my N64. Not that I hate my N64 (I love it), just that I wished I didn't trade my SNES. :(

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Starfox

- What are some of your other favorites?
Super Mario World, Chronotrigger, Out of this World, SMB Collection and MMPR

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Contra infuriated me just because of the freakin difficulty. Flashback was interesting. Super Metroid was interesting and I wanted a lot more from Starfox.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
The game was Super Mario World...my reaction was, and I quote: "cooooooooool"

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Yes, I was one of those early adoptees.
No, I now only have an emulator of the system.

- How many games do you have for it?
I used to have the following:
Super Mario World
Super Mario All Stars
Flashback
Out of this World
Starfox
Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?
Super Mario Kart
Contra III
Gradius III
Super R-Type

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
The SNES was the reason I stopped subscribing to Nintendo Power. Nintendo literally abandoned the NES and gave the spotlight to the newer sibling.

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy III...can't pick between them :)

- What are some of your other favorites?
Oh boy, this is going to be a long list :D
Actraiser
Breath of Fire series
Contra III
Donkey Kong Country series
F-Zero
Final Fantasy II
Final Fight series
Illusion of Gaia
Lufia series
Mega Man X series
Paladin's Quest
Secret of Evermore
Secret of Mana
Soul Blazer
Street Fighter II (all versions)
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
Yoshi's Island

so many more :D

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
Over my cousins house on or close to launch day. He popped in Super Mario World and we were in absolute awe. The jump from 8 to 16 bit was a great thing :D

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
I got the system not too long after my cousin, though it may have been a year after.

- How many games do you have for it?
I have 68 games for the system and theres plenty more to go.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
No stories, but I just wanted to state my pure love of the SNES as an all around machine. The library of awesome RPGs, platformers, shooters, fighters, etc. has never been passed IMO. I've never seen a system with so many gold titles in each category.

When the SNES debuted a local independent video game store had Super Mario World hooked up to the main TV and they charged customers a dollar for five minutes worth of play. The reaction to anything Nintendo put out back then was that insane to justify that kind of profiteering. And no I didn't pay that.

Too many favorites to really single one out, but Contra III, Mega Man X and Super Metroid are solid titles I'll be playing ten years from now.

While I really, really enjoy the Sega Genesis, the SNES shines in my mind because no matter how often I rented I didn't come across too many stinkers unlike on the NES or Genny.

What is your favorite game on this system?
Either Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 3. It's too tough to pick a favorite.

What are some of your other favorites?
Hmmmm, let's see.. Space Megaforce, Axelay, Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts, Zelda: A Link To The Past, Contra 3, Final Fantasy 2, Legend Of The Mystical Ninja/Goemon series, Demon's Crest, R-Type 3, RunSaber, Mario World, Mario Allstars, Castlevania 4, Skyblazer, Magical Quest, Goof Troop, Super Metroid, Buster Bust Loose, ect.

What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Hmmm.. I don't know. I guess Final Fantasy 3 because that's the game that got me hooked on RPGs.

Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
Sure do. The first game I remember seeing in action was Mario World running in a store display unit in my local mall. I vividly remember there was a hugh line of people waiting to play and also remember seeing Yoshi in action for the first time. Man, it was simply Beautiful.

Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Yup, I believe I got it for either Christmas of 91 or 92. Sorry, I don't remember the exact year.

How many games do you have for it?
Including Super Famicom titles I'd say around 70 or 80 games.

Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

Too many. I won't bore you all with my memories, but I well say it's easily my favorite system of all time.

What is your favorite game on this system?

Super Mario World (still one of my favorites of all time) and Starfox

- What are some of your other favorites?

DKC games were just gorgeous and Street Fighter Turbo was better than constantly wasting quarters at the arcade.
Contra and Zelda too

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

lack of sports games that were good was irritating.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

Wow, it was so much more colorful then the Genesis, but the controller scared me their were so many buttons. Street fighter quickly changed my view on this

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

Yes, i bought it used after I had had the Genesis for a few years; an I still have it today

- How many games do you have for it?

about 30-some

How fitting as I recently reacquired this system.

What is your favorite game on this system?
Oh my..that's tough. Toss up between Super Metroid and Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past.

What are some of your other favorites?
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
Super Punch Out
Super Mario All Stars
Legend of Zelda: LttP
Axelay
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Cool Spot

What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Surprise: Cool Spot. Graphically stunning, audibly amazing and the gameplay was crisp and clean like the fizzy drink it was based on.
Infuriate: Super Empire Strikes Back. Great game, tough as nails and the computer nails you with cheap hits.

Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
I think the first time I saw one in action was on a TV commercial. I didn't see one on display or anything but several months after it came out I remember temporarily swapping my TG-16 for a SNES for a while. First game I played on it was Castlevania IV which was very cool. The rotating room blew my socks off. However at the time I was a big Sega fan and what was available for the SNES didn't get me to open my wallet.

Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
I picked one up sometime in either in late 1993 or early 1994. When I worked at Wal-Mart we had a SNES demo kiosk in Electronics and I got to see some really neat stuff. The local game store had a used one for like $60 to $70 so I bought it. Ahh the days of disposable cash and hardly any bills.

Like many of my systems, I've sold the SNES, bought another, sold it, got another and another then sold both. Usually it was due to lack of space and (at the time) lack of interest. Now that I have a house and a dedicated den/game room with all my 16 Bit and older systems it seemed out of place not to have one again. Plus I got a bunch of SNES games for cheap at Goodwill (thanks to the wife, I swear she dislikes my hobby but at the same time eggs me on) so I needed one anyway LOL . And I ain't sellin' it.

How many games do you have for it?
Not many. Maybe 5 or 6 SNES games and 2 Super Fami games.

Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
The SNES was never a "major" system for me so there wasn't any major moments that are story-worthy. The only one I can come up with was when I was dating my now wife and I was hanging out at her parents' house along with her sister and her boyfriend while the 'rents were away on vacation. We had an plush chair pushed in front of the TV and we were playing games like Super Empire Strikes Back, Spiderman: Maximum Carnage and Killer Instinct. The chair soon became called the Frumpy Chair as anyone who sat in it would soon spout expletives at the television while playing and getting their cans handed to them. The favorite expletive was the sister as she got wiped out in Killer Instinct: "F*cker, F*cker BITCHBOX!!!"

US - Earthbound/Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy 3(6)
JAP - UFO Kamen Yakisoban

- What are some of your other favorites?

Tetris Attack, Dragonball Z Super Butoden Series/Hyper Dimension, Secret of Mana/Evermore, and a lot more which I don't feel like typing.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

At a cousin's place and I played Super Mario World...needless to say the graphics were a lot better than the NES

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

I had 1 which was stolen, now that I have no concept of "savings" I own about 5 SNESs 2 Originals and 2 SNES 2s

- How many games do you have for it?

at least 30

Oh, boy, a thread that I can do some real replying to.

- What is your favorite game on this system?

This is a tough question, but I am going to have to go with Yoshi's Island. It is by far the best 2D platform game ever released. The replay value is also immense. I have conquered it fully about 3 times, and I still break it out every now and again.

- What are some of your other favorites?

I have many other favourites:

Final Fantasy II (IV): This was my first true RPG, and I got it about 6 months after first getting the snes, back in 1993. The game was so chock full of secrets, that it kept me playing for years. I still try and break it out once a year to see how quickly I can pass it (last year I did it in 12 hours). It is very close to being my favourite snes game.

Super Mario World: Who can miss the first game released for the system. Certainly a high point in the platformer genre.

Umihara Kawase: One of the first Japanese games I ever played, and I am forever greatful for whoever suggested it to me originally. I liked it so much that I imported it. Who can beat the giant sea creatures that perpetually pop up to run into the poor little girl?

Final Fantasy III (VI): Another game in the series, and certainly a classic. I personally enjoyed the non-linear second part of the game, but some may disagree.

Super Slap Shot: Seriously, this is the best sports game on the system. What other hockey game allows you to pit Egypt Vs Israel. The ability to check while handling the puck is priceless, as is the crazy sound effects.

Donkey Kong Country 2: This was the best in the series. There is so much hidden stuff and challenge, that you can play the game for about 10 times as long as the first game. Plus it has some of the best graphics on the snes.

Super Castlevania IV: This was one of the games I sought for the most when I was younger. I think I finally got it in 1997 or so. For being one of the first snes games, it has amazing sound, graphics, control, and most importantly, fun. If you have a game genie, try this code: XXB1-0DDD.

Top Gear 2: This is an awesome racing game. I still remember having an imprint in my thumb from holding the X button too long.

Killer Instinct: Some may be put off by the combo heavy gameplay, but I still enjoy busting it out every now and then to enact a killer combo.

I have many more, but I would just be rambling.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

I think the game that surprised me the most was Uniracers. It is the closest thing to Tony Hawk for the snes, and is incredibly fast paced. Another is Umihara Kawase, but see above more what I had to say.

The game that infuriated me the most was not Captain Novolin, as many might suspect. It is Beethoven's 2nd. That game is pure crap beyond belief. But don't think that Captain Novolin is good, because it is pure crap too.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

I first saw the snes in some Nintendo Power magazines we picked up at a flea market. I instantly wanted Super Mario World.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

I still have the original system that we got for Christmas in 1992.

- How many games do you have for it?

I haven't counted recently, but I have approximately 90 games. I also own a pal system, and several accessories.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

Probably my favourite thing I used to do back in the day was make game genie codes, specifically for Super Castlevania IV. I made tons of codes doing everything from making the boomerang clear everything in the screen to making the graphics all psychadelic. I also experimented with Final Fantasy II, but when I got the internet, I found out that most of the codes I was making were already listed. :P

Another great time was when I first started up my website back in 2001. At the time, I hadn't played too many games, but thanks to the wonders of emulation, I got to play many strange and unique games. It also got me hooked on the system. The snes will never die!

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Chrono Trigger or one of the FF's.

- What are some of your other favorites?
Bof, Super Punch-Out!, Mario Kart, Street Fighter II, Secret of Mana, Lttp, and a lot more.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Don't really know, though Star Fox absolutely blew me away when it was released, such amazing graphics at the time.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
I got this for Christmas in 1994 I think, and what a day, I remember playing hours upon hours of Mario Kart, StarFox, Mario World, and a load of other games with my brother and cousins. Still probably my favorite console.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Yes, and yes.

- How many games do you have for it?
Up and around 110.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
This system has eaten up more time than any other, between the hours of Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fires, and all the other RPGs, not to mention the amazing multi-player titles. I fondly remember playing Joe and Mac, Mario Kart, Jurassic Park 2, and dozens more of these games with my Brother for hours.

All righty, time for my input.

- What is your favorite game on this system? Super Metroid

- What are some of your other favorites? Sunset Riders, Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts, Demon's Crest, Super Castlevania IV, Super Mario World, Gradius III, Mega Man X, Kirby Super Star, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you? Street Fighter II surprised me. Back in the day when my friend bought it, I was amazed at how similar it was to the arcade port.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction? Store demo at release. It was playing SMW of corse! All I could think of was so many colors and "1337 grapfX".

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now? Unfortunately no. I was a Genesis boy. Of corse I own one today.

- How many games do you have for it? Roughly 25.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us? Unfortunately no. I have almost zero nostalgia attatchment for the system. Only one of my friends owned it back in the 16-bit era. Everyone else on the block was a SEGA fan. I didn't get to play it often. The most I ever got out of it back then was with SFII, SMW, AlttP, and some Mario Paint.

Not my favorite system, but I do enjoy it quite a bit. The slow processor, however, really gets on my nerves at times. Nintendo, you needed more RAM!!!

- What is your favorite game on this system?
There were so many its ridiculouse. if i had to choose ONE... ARGH i just dont know!

- What are some of your other favorites?
Here we go, Mario World, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy III, TMNT 4, Maximum Carnage, Zelda Link to the Past, Bomberman, Donkey Kong Country.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
i was surprised (at the time) by the realistic graphics of Lethal Enforcers, i had the guns and everything. it looked awesome for that age. I was lucky enough not to buy any bad games, but when i found out Secret of Mana 3 wasnt coming out in the state, i was pretty PO'd

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
The first game i saw on the system was Mario World at my friend's house, probably a couple days after release, needless to say i was blown away, i didnt have a TG16 or Genesis at the time so the best i could compare it to was my NES. My parents didnt hear the end of "i want one!"

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
My parents finally bought me one after a while, it mustve been '93 or '94. I received the Genesis before i got the SNES (no clue why, i wanted the SNES), after I got the SNES i loved it much much more and it still had some life left in it. Of course i still own it now, not the same one, but one nevertheless.

- How many games do you have for it?
In my heyday? mustve been around 30 or so, for the life of me i cant remember which they were, now i only own about 12 games, since im a completist, its hard to buy the games i loved, most run about 70-100 each in the condition i want.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
I remember now, my parents bought it for me when i broke my leg (7 fractures) so i spent a good 4 months in bed playing it. Nintendo will always have a special place in my heart.

What is your favorite game on this system?
-Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

What are some of your other favorites?
-None really. But sooner or later I'll get around to some of the FF games and Chrono Trigger.

What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
-I thought Killer Instinct looked pretty good for its time. The Mechwarrior series was an exercise in frustration for me.

Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
-It was a demo unit at a mall in California around the time of its launch. So the game, I'm pretty certain, was Super Mario. My reaction was "meh". This was in the dark "intergamer" period of my life between losing my original consoles and becoming a collector. Games did not have a lot of appeal for me at this time.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Not back in the day. I have one left but I'm going to get rid of it soon. It's nothing personal. It's a system I got for cheap and thinking primarily as a collector. The truth is I had no real sentimental attachment to this system so in the interest of making space I've decided (not easily) to let this part of my collection go find new homes.

- How many games do you have for it?
I had about six and have none now (see above). I'll content myself with emulation if something piques my interest.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
No. I just want to say that I'm not an SNES hater by any stretch. My comments above simply reflect the fact that my meager involvement with this system was primarily as a collector and not a gamer, hence the decision to part ways. It this happens to be your favorite system, then more power to you.

Final Fantasy III.

- What are some of your other favorites?

Super Metroid, Final Fantasy II, Chrono Trigger, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Castlevania IV, Sim City, Actraiser, Pilotwings, Street Fighter II Turbo, Mortal Kombat II, NBA Jam, Super Punchout!!, Super Star Wars, Super Empire Strikes Back, Super Return of the Jedi, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, F-Zero, TinStar.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

1991 in the PX in Camp Humphries in Korea in the electronics section. Super Mario World. I thought it was too awesome. I went there every day after school for a week until they kicked me out.

- What is your favorite game on this system?

Shadowrun.

- What are some of your other favorites?

Secret of Mana, Pilotwings, F-Zero, Earthbound, Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Ken Griffey Jr. MLB

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

I never expected to enjoy Secret of Mana or Pilotwings. Super Mario World and its 'special' levels caused me much mental anguish.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

A kid I went to school with got an imported system. I played F-Zero on it and was in love instantly.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

Yes and Yes, still have my launch model.

- How many games do you have for it?

110 US releases.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

I got in toruble for finding it besfore Christmas and playing it. Imagine my surprise when my mother came home early to find me playing Mario World.

- What is your favorite game on this system?
I loved ActRaiser. The look, the feel, the MUSIC! It had it all.

- What are some of your other favorites?
Logged a lot of time on Pilotwings, Super Mario World, and U.N. Squadron. Also loved Lagoon, Final Fantasy II, and Donkey Kong Country.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
God, I played so many of them. I seemed to have a goal to rent and play every SNES game that was out at the time. I remember playing one... Power Fighters I think? It was such a blatant Street Fighter rip-off that it killed my rent-em-all quest on the spot.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
Super Mario World. The SNES came out substantially earlier in the U.S. than it did up here in Canada, but I convinced my father to drive me over the border so I could get one. Couldn't believe the difference. I was thrilled.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
I technically got it "before the day", since I picked one up States-side before they were available in Canada.

- How many games do you have for it?
Still have it, though my library of games is down to just three games. I went through a horrible trade-in phase during the PlayStation era.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
When I got my SNES, there was one small video store that was renting games for it. I got talking to the clerk because I rented games without the machine, though the machine wasn't available up here yet. She thought I was mistaking them for NES games.
So we got talking and she said she was opening her own pizza-video store, and I offered to sell her my NES and games so she'd have some start-up inventory. I unloaded the NES and about 24 games for $700 CDN, a greatly over-inflated price in my opinion. (Sadly now I wish I still had all those games.) Six months later, the place was closed up... a distant memory. :)

Alright, the SNES is my all-time favorite system ever, so here I go:

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Chrono Trigger, also my favorite game of all-time. Earthbound is a ridiculously close second.

- What are some of your other favorites?
Earthbound, Actraiser, Breath of fire series, Castlevania dracula X, Donkey kong country series, EVO: search for eden, final fantasy 3, Ganbare goemon/Mystical ninja series, Illusion of gaia, kirby super star, kirby's dream land 3, lufia 2, megaman X series, Parodius series, pop 'n twinbee, smartball, spanky's quest, super castlevania 4, super mario RPG, super metroid, super punch-out, turtles in time, spike Mcfang, zelda, yoshi's island....God, I love you SNES.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Surprised- Earthbound. I will NEVER forget the day I first rented this game. At the time I was a huge sega fan, even contemplating selling my SNES stuff to buy more genesis games. So, I went to blockbuster that day to rent a genesis game, but there was nothing I wanted. My mom told me to try renting a SNES game instead, and lo and behold, the huge box for earthbound catches my eye, and I decided on renting it. I'd never played a game like earthbound before, and I fell completely in love with it and the RPG genre in general. I can only imagine how different a gamer I'd be if earthbound didn't have such as ridiculously huge box. I wish I still had my earthbound box. You'd think I'd save something like that, huh?

Infuriated- Ummm...I know I rented Mario's time machine and hated the hell out of it. That's all I can think of.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
To be honest, I absolutely cannot remember the first time I saw it. I think I was just a bit too young or something.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Yep, got it for my fifth or sixth birthday which would be either '92 or '93.

- How many games do you have for it?
129, counting my Super famicom imports.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
Well, I already gave my earthbound story, though recently I saw an old home video of when I first received my SNES. I got so excited that I accidentally knocked a glass off the table! It was pretty funny...can't blame myself though, it was the SNES! :D

Hope you guys enjoyed my long winded ballad of SNES goodness! :)

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Chrono Trigger- from the opening screens all the way to the end(s). Just a beautiful, beautiful game.

- What are some of your other favorites?
Killer Instinct- the only fighting game I ever got "good" at.
Super Mario Kart
Kirby's Avalance (yeah, I know, it's the same as Puyo Puyo, but it's got Kirby! :) )
Final Fantasy 2&3...the SNES was the golden age of RPGs, imo.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Surprised- Super Mario Kart-all the mode 7 backgrounds were so so so cool.
Infuriated- Super Star Wars. So so so sosossososo hard!!

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it?

Some WWF game, Super Wrestlemania I think, in a Nintendo Power. I just couldn't belive the wrestlers, how real they looked. I kept thinking that it was a joke, they used tv clips instead...

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Yep, back in the day I got it a year or so after it was released for my birthday. I got the core system, a cheap 3rd party controller, and Super Mario Kart. The 3rd pary controller broke about a month after we got it. >:(

I've still got the original system, but it's currently in a box, along with 95% of my VG stuff.

- How many games do you have for it?
Around 10, probably. I don't collect for it at all, I just get the games I want to play.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
The SNES was the first system I ever experienced having a battery in a cart die on me. First it happened with SimCity, then in Super Mario World. It's weird, because all my NES games still have working batteries. I got the two SNES games in question from a friend though, so who knows what he put them through.

Ah, the Super Nintendo.

My parents didn't allow any gaming systems when I was very young, so my gaming was limited to the tablescraps I received when staying with friends and relatives. But, for my tenth birthday, I was surprised with a shiny SNES, rather newly released.

Nearly everyone has a jumping-off point, a system that launched a lifetime of wasted hours. Mine's the SNES. To me, every system since is "next gen". Fundamentally, I'm infatuated with the idea of moving pixels around on a monitor, so will play anything, but there's a special place in my right kidney for the Super Nintendo.

In no particular order, my ten favorites:

Super Punch-Out
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Secret of Mana
Actraiser
Super Mario World
Earthbound
Super Metroid

- What is your favorite game on this system?

Super Metroid. Not only my favorite SNES game...but probably my favorite video game of all time. However, I like Chrono Trigger so much...I might even call it a tie with Super Metroid.

- What are some of your other favorites?

This is going to be a long list:

Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Yoshi's Island, Super Castlevania IV, Dracula X, Contra III, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Secret of Evermore, Mega Man X trilogy, Mega Man 7, Super Mario Kart, Super Punch-Out!!, Actraiser, Star Fox, Street Fighter II (any of them), T.M.N.T. IV: Turtles in Time, SimCity, Pilotwings, Super R-Type, R-Type III, Gradius III, F-Zero, Killer Instinct, Earthworm Jim, Super Mario All-Stars, Rock N Roll Racing, Illusion of Gaia, Super Adventure Island, Final Fight, Super Star Wars trilogy, Super Smash TV, U.N Squadron, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Okay...this list is getting too long.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

None that I can think of. Every game that I thought was going to be good, met or exceeded my expectations. And every game I thought was going to be bad...was bad.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

Yes, I remember it very well. I had a friend who lived on the other side of my neighborhood. He called me up one day and said his mom had bought them an SNES on her way home from work (this was just like two days after it first came out). My friend's family were big Nintendo fans. They owned an NES with around 50 games...which was a pretty good number for back in 1991. Anyway, I hopped on my bike and took off for my friend's house. When I arrived...my friend and his 2 younger brothers were playing (Super Mario World of course). They had just started a new file about 10 minutes earlier and were still on Yoshi's Island. I stood there and gazed at the SNES for the first time...the graphics, the colors, the sound! It was all so amazing! I seriously had never been this excited about something in my whole life...the SNES was like a dream come true to me. I wanted to play so bad, but my friend and his two brothers made sure that I remained just a spectator. Actually, they did finally hand me the controller after they had played for about an hour. Then after I beat one level, they grabbed the controller away from me and I once again could do nothing but sit and watch. I didn't really care though...just seeing the SNES in action was enough for me!

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

I did own the system "back in the day", but I got it later then other people did. I didn't get my SNES till Christmas 1992. And of course I still own one...but it's not my "original". My first SNES broke sometime in 1999, so I bought my friend's which he never played anymore. I could never throw out my original SNES, so I have it up on my shelf. And yes...it has turned that ugly yellowish color. But my other SNES that I use all the time hasn't turned colors thankfully!

- How many games do you have for it?

As of right now...about 100.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

I didn't even know the SNES exsisted till right about the same time it came out. I had never heard anything about it on the news or TV, or read anything about it in any magazines. One day in August 1991, I was looking through a Sears catalog we had gotten in the mail. While I was looking through the video game section of the magazine, I spotted a picture of the SNES and a screenshot of Super Mario World. It was the first time I had ever seen the SNES or SMW. My jaw dropped to the floor when I first saw it. That's the only way I can describe it. About a week later was when my friend's mom bought one for him and his brothers.

After my friend got his SNES...I would go over to his house every day to play (or just watch) Super Mario World. I was there when my friend and his brothers beat the game for the first time. Yeah, kinda sucks that I saw the ending for the game, and I wasn't the one who had beaten it...but it didn't bother me that much. I couldn't believe how long the ending was! After the game would end, my friend and I would reset it just to beat it and watch the ending again. Yeah, he gave me a crack at bowser. Guess what? I beat him my first try!

I wanted an SNES for Christmas 1991 SO BAD!!! But, of course, I didn't get one. Another friend of mine who lived down the street from me got one for that Christmas. So now I had two friends in my neighborhood who owned an SNES. I was, how to say it....jealous. Even though this friend also had 2 brothers, one younger, one older...I got to play the SNES at their house way more then at my other friend's. My other friend had limitations on how long he could play...so him and his brothers would use up all the time and hardly give me a shot. So now that my other friend who had no time limits had an SNES....I could go over and play it whenever I wanted. Yeah, I had to wait my turn...but this friend and his brothers were more fair about giving turns then my other friend and his brothers.

During the course of 1992...I was introduced to games like Actraiser, Super Castlevania IV, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Super R-Type, Gradius III, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Mario Kart. With each new game I played...my desire for an SNES grew and grew. I finally got my SNES for Christmas 1992...and the rest is history.

Wow, the SNES. This beyond a shadow of a doubt is in my opinion the best game system made to date. I thought that between the Genesis , the TG16 and the SNES, the SNES won hands down. Not only did most multiplatform titles that appeared on the Genesis and the SNES look and sound better, they often played better. I bough this system without hesitation and stuck with it through the entire “You’re cool if you have a Genesis but lame of you’re still a Nintendo-nerd” thing.

This system defined my late Jr. High and early high school years. Before I could afford one, my buddies and I rented one every chance we got and played it until our thumbs bled. Titles like U.N. Squadron, Super Castlevania IV, F Zero and Super Mario World were a hit in late 1991. After de-tasseling (plucking corn tassels, it’s a mid-west thing) in summer of 1992, I got my beloved machine, a brand spankin’ new copy of Final Fantasy II and a 21” used color TV. I was in heaven. Add titles like
Mario Kart,
Zelda: link to the past,
Super Metroid,
Final Fantasy III,
Mario RPG,
Legend of the Mystical Ninja,
Super Contra, Turtles IV,
Street Fighter,
Final Fight,
Super Mario All Stars,
Actraiser,
Shadowrun…….the list could go on and on. Simply put, this is an amazing system.

Favorite title?
Wow that’s a hard one. If I had to say one it would be final Fantasy II. I actually played this title until the counter was 99.99 but I also maxed out every character and found every item in the game. Well, except the pink tail (damn you Pink Puff!!!).

Most frustrating title?
Without a doubt Super Ghouls N Ghosts. This game is nothing short of insane!!!!

First time seeing the system in action?
Hmm. I saw it in a Wal Mart. It was one of the SNES stand up demo units and it had Super Mario World for play. I was in love. From the moment I saw it I had to have it, I’ll never forget that moment.

did I own it then or now?
Both. I still have my original SNES and proud of it!!!

Collection?
As for my collection of SNES titles, I don’t have many (compared to many of you guys). 43 to be exact. I have collected mostly what I feel are the must have titles for the system (although a few suck).

All in all I play this system more than any other. As a matter of fact, as I’m writing this, my wife is playing Super Mario All Stars. Life is good.

Best system/platform ever released and no other will ever rival it. Full stop.

I remember the very moment I plugged in my pre-ordered SNES with Super Mario World. I can so clearly remembered being blown away by the audio.

My love affair with the SNES is one, which will never ever end.

- What is your favorite game on this system?
I've gotta go with Super Mario World. on this one. It just seems to perfect. Its very much like Super Mario Bros. 3 (the way its layed out and all). The levels are amazing, perfect game in my opinion, one of the best games ever, let alone on the SNES.

- What are some of your other favorites?
Hmmm...
Super Mario World 2
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Street Fighter 2
Super Street Figther 2 Turbo
Mortal Kombat (1, 2 and 3)
Kirby's Avalanche
Pitfall!
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 3
thats all I can name off the top of my head.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
I guess the graphics suprised me in Super Mario World 2 (Yoshi's Island). I remember the first time I saw that game, I was like "are you kidding me? What am I 5 years old? I didn't realize how much I would start liking it.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
It must have been at my cousins house. I guess I liked it so much that I knew that I had to get one for myself.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Oh yeah, I owned it back in the day. Now too.

- How many games do you have for it?
Around 150. I'm going to complete the library eventually... I'm just working on NES right now. However... 2 of the games I have are the Star Fox and Donkey Kong Competition carts.

I specifically remember the day my parents purchased it for me and my brothers. At first we were looking at the Genesis (Which we'd recieve the next year)... But I guess my father and brothers decided on the Snes (I was the youngest.. my input didn't really matter.) It was to be our christmas present.. and I believe it was the year it was released.. It had Super Mario World as a pack-in..

I can still remember the first I played it.. I kept accidently going to that yoshi village thing, or whatever it was called.. And I was pretty young, so I wasn't quite aware of graphics.

I can also remember the day we got Street Fighter II. My entire family would play it, alternating.. My favorite character at the time was Blanka.. I liked to keep repeating the bite move.

Over the next few years, we recieved several games, from my father who had a friend who selled them used.. so we rarely bought them for retail price. My favorite 2-player competitive game was Super Mario Kart.. I think my favorite game when I was younger was Mario Paint.. I got so attached to it.. I even bought the strategy guide for it. I didn't have MS paint back then.. so it was great. I liked making my own videogame sprites.. (and I still do.)

The SNES is my favorite system of all-time, so this is going to be fun. Here we go:

What is your favorite game on this system?
Super Metroid. One of the most brillantly designed games EVER, and my favorite game of all-time.

What are some of your other favorites?
Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Chrono Trigger, The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Spanky's Quest, Claymates, Space Megaforce, On The Ball, Biker Mice From Mars, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Uniracers, Final Fantasy III, Rock N' Roll Racing, Spectre, Stunt Race FX, Super R-Type, R-Type III, Super Pinball: Behind The Mask, Sim City, Kirby Super Star, F-Zero, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Wario's Woods, Mega Man X

What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Surprised: Chrono Trigger, Spanky's Quest, Biker Mice From Mars, On The Ball, Donkey Kong Country (I was expecting it to be good, but WOW), Super Metroid
Infuriated:
Space Ace - Just about impossible to get past the first part. I took it back to GameStop (this was back when they still sold SNES games) the same night I got it, and exchanged it for something else.

Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
My older cousin came over on Christmas Eve in 1992 stayed with us for a few days. He brought over his SNES and Super Mario World. I was amazed, so much that I played SMW all Christmas Eve until bedtime.

Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
In September 1993, I asked for an SNES for my birthday, and got it. I still have it, and it's still as grey as it was when I hooked it up for the first time.

How many games do you have for it?
At the time of this post, 115. Around the time I joined DP last year, I made a goal to own at least 100 SNES titles by 2005, and I succeeded. I have a pretty well-rounded library, everything from platformers, racers, shmups, sports, puzzlers, RPGs, etc. And of course, I have many of the best titles on the system.

Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
-The first time I played through Chrono Trigger, my two younger brothers gathered in my room to watch me fight Magus. My mom let us eat dinner in there that night.
-In 1995, I was the only kid on my block who owned Donkey Kong Country for quite a while. I got it for Christmas in 1994 (my mom even preordered it at Babbage's and gave me the t-shirt she got for doing so, which I unfortunately don't have anymore). Every other kid wanted to borrow it, and I let anyone who would let me borrow a game of theirs in return do so. Through this, I discovered cool titles such as Spanky's Quest and Claymates. I stopped doing this after one of the kids moved without giving the game back. I thought I wouldn't see it again, but three months later he finally returned it.
-I got to rent Virtual Bart and Jurassic Park for getting good grades.
-Another cousin had a good collection of RPGs (Chrono Trigger, FFIII, Secret Of Evermore) and let us borrow them as long as we wanted. In fact, I had them for at least a year or so before he wanted them back... so he could trade them in to GameCrazy for N64 stuff.
-I got Super Mario RPG for free twice. The first time, I stupidly sold it off a year later to some kid in my science class for $20. The second time, a friend of mine had found it cheap at a garage sale and bought it for me since he already had it and I had helped him find some NES games earlier.
-My favorite SNES find is a loose Earthbound that was in great shape for $4 last year. It was at a store that seemed to know what SNES RPGs were worth - at the time, they also had Super Mario RPG for $20 and FF Mystic Quest for $15.
-Back in 1999 or 2000, a local Toys R Us was clearing out their SNES stock, and I got Sim City brand new for $5. One of my favorite deals on a brand new game, ever.

Yeah - the SNES is also my favorite system of all time.

I have a few stories. I had gotten the money for the system saved up - I was 13 at the time so it took me a friggen lot of work to save up 200$. I worked out a deal where I gave the cash to my mom, and she let me order it from Sears mail order. There was something involving us having some gift certificate to sears that mad it cheaper that way. At any rate, I remember the package shipped early - so that I came home from school one day to find it on my doorstep - a full two days before launch day! Man that rocked... I think I played Super Mario World for five straight hours until my parents forced me to stop to eat dinner.

Another fun one... My mother used to rent videos all the time from this wierd drug store chain named Phar-mor - it was sort of a cross between a walmart and a CVS. They had insanely cheap video rentals - something like 3 for 3$. THey rented games too - but due to the low prices they were constantly out of all the decent titles. I found something cool I liked, and rented it - but when I got home I saw that in addition to the game I had rented, they had thrown a copy of Actraiser into the bag. I had never heard of Actraiser before - but I checked the reciept and we had not been charged for the rental - so free game for me :) It ended up being one of my favorites!

I remember when I first wanted the system back in maybe 1992? My Dad told me that I had to come up with at least HALF of the money for it, so I started saving up and when i finally had enough $ for it, I remember driving to the mall with my Dad and picking it up. The only game I wanted for the system was Super Mario World, but my Dad insisted on picking up another game for it, which just so happen to be The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, which happens to be my all time favorite game for the system.

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Zelda A Link to the Past

- What are some of your other favorites?
Donkey Kong Country series
Final Fantasy III
NBA Jam TE
Star Fox
Super Mario series
Super Punch Out
Turtles games
Mortal Kombat series

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
Link to the Past, Tecmo Super Bowl

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
First time I saw the system was at my friends house after school, he was playing Super Mario World, and I wantes to get one right there and then.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Yep I had it back in the day, still have the same one with the Box and paperwork etc.

- How many games do you have for it?
30-40
- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us? Cant think of any right now...sorry...

Jog my memory? Ha! I still play my SNES every day! It has the best digital game controllers, the best D-pad... it was copied by everybody, but not even modern-day Nintendo can get it right. Just look at the GBASP, NDS, and Gamecube controllers' D-pad. They are all a step back from the SNES's.

The Sony PSX also got started from the failed Sony/Nintendo Playstation CD add-on for the SNES. The SNES is also the last great non-portable console from Nintendo. All others since have been down-hill so to speak: N64 and Gamecube. Why Nintendo, why?

- What is your favorite game on this system?

Super Mario Kart. Why? It is the first Mario Kart, the original Mario Kart, and it is hands down still the best Mario Kart. The sequals have been fun, but they still aren't the original, and they tend to feel newbie-fied, especially in battle mode.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

Super Mario Kart surprised me and infuriated me at first. I thought that the premise of the game was stupid, the graphics sucked, and I also felt like the controls were terrible. This I should add was my reaction when the game was first released. My friend rented it. Within 2 weeks I owned my own copy of the game, as I fell in love with it. I saw the genius of it.

Another surprising game is "EVO: Search for Eden", which I first played last year. Again, I regularly play the SNES to this day. The game is strange, original, and fun. It is a combination of a platformer, RPG, and evolution simulation. The game is flawed in some ways, but none of them prevent the game from being fun. The surprising aspect of EVO is that I never knew anything about the game until last year. I can't believe I let this gem sneak by me.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

In print, the first game I saw was Super Mario World, but in person, the first game I saw was Final Fantasy II (USA). I had never been exposed to console RPGs, so I thought the gameplay was strange, but what first caught me was how colorful things were and how cool the magic special effects looked. The physical hardware of the system itself was also colorful... at least compared to the grey NES, the purple and grey SNES was far more colorful.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

Yes, I got the system "back in the day" by selling most of my NES games and hardware. I regret that now, but back then it was the only way for me to afford a SNES. I was just a kid. Today I still own my original SNES, but it is broken and stored in the closet. I now also own another USA SNES that works, a USA mini-SNES, and two original model Super Famicom systems.

- How many games do you have for it?

Hundreds. I also own multiple copies of Super Mario Kart, just in case of emergencies :)

I also have several copiers and a flash cart. They are great for playing fan translations of games that should have been released in the western world. I never owned a copier "back in the day", but now it seems to be the best way to get the most out of the SNES, again because of fan translations, SRAM cheating/backup, real-time saving, and cheat codes.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

I started playing video games with the Atari 2600, when I was 4 years old, I became a game player with the NES, but it was with the SNES that I fell in love with gaming. I'd say it is, to this day, my favorite gaming system. 2D gaming peaked with the SNES, or possibly with the GBA. Did I mention that I like the GBA because it reminds me of the SNES?

The SNES was the "party" system for me Many weekend nights, when us guys couldn't find something better to do, such as get a date, we would all play the SNES: fighting games (street fighters, etc), mario kart, and many others.

I hope that someday a portable SNES is released. No the GBA is not a portable SNES. I want a portable system that can actually play SNES carts.

Favorite game on the system, that's a toughie considering it's loaded w/so many great games. I guess I'll cast my vote on Mega Man X3.

Other favorites? Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Breath of Fire, Mega Man X 1&2, Castlevania Drcula X, Super Mario World, Contra 3, Super Mario RPG, Thunder Spirits, TMNT 4, Street Fighter (all of them), and TMNT Tournament Fighters.

Surprise was around the corner in just about every game. From the initial WOW of the gfx in SMW to the plot twists in Chrono Trigger, and the shock of finding out that Dr. Wily built Zero in MMX2 & MMX3. As for Infuriation I guess that only really Came from Donkey Kong Country, I got It for Cmas one year and beat it 2 days later and I felt rather gyped.

The first time I saw the SNES in action was at walmart and SMW was running. It took forever to get up to the system to play it, the lines of kids waiting to play were always horrible.

I didn't buy the SNES on launch but I did get it in the spring, and funny enough I still the same SNES and it's running strong as ever.

Total games owned for it? 56 at the moment but my collection will continue to grow.

No stories on the system but I will say this for my thoughts of it. Other than the Sega Saturn the SNES is the only system that's ever grabbed me and made me go bug eyed with WOW from just how awesome it was in sound, gfx and games.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

i remember my cousin renting a game called' harvest moon' at the end of the snes days and i asked him what it was. he told me it was a farming game and i laughed at him forever. I finally tried it after mocking him so much and loved it. I now have every US HM game complete including promo dolls and the rare strat guide. And harvest moon is one of my favourite games for the snes console! (go figure)

I registered on at DP just to contribute to this post :) This is by far my favourite system of all time. Nothing before or since has lived up to it for me. Although the DS is slowly gaining my favour.

- What is your favorite game on this system?

At the time probably Final Fantasy 3 (6). Now though i would probably say Mario Kart because its still feels like such a great game even after all these years. Thats not to say FF3 still isnt a great game, it is, but MK just has that one more go appeal :)

What are some of your other favorites?
-

Ok in order then... heres my top ten of all time!(besides MK) with a comment. This is only games that i owned back in the day so sorry if ive left out a few gems.

Final Fantasy 3 - Epic, Best RPG ever IMO
Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. - It just has such a complete feel to it.
Yoshis Island - The last legendary 16 bit game?
Super Puyo Puyo - Theres versions on other console but i loved this at the time on SNES. S Famicom import.
Super Mario World - The game that started it all
Super Bomberman - good but not great in 1 player mode but with a few friends around in 4 player mode its unmatchable.
Street Fighter 2 - The game that probably sold more SNES than any other.
Super Tennis - I've never played a better Tennis game since.
Secret of Mana - Another Square classic.
Stunt Race FX - Really great FX racer.
- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

Surprised - Final Fantasy 3. This was my first turn based RPG and ive loved them ever since.

Infuriated - Super Ghouls and Ghosts. I dont think i ever met someone who past the first stage. It's so bloody frustratingly hard that it detracts from the whole game.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

Yeah i remember first seeing street fighter 2 in action and subsequently picking my jaw up from the floor. I was a big fan of the arcade game at the time so the thought of owning a snes and playing it at home was beyond my wildest dreams. Up to this point i had only owned a sega master system and gamegear so the graphics and sound alone just blew me away

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

Yes i picked it up in 93 in the street fighter 2 bundle. I still own my original one but it's a bit buggered cause i tried to do the 50/60hz mod but i got solder all over the place and its a bit glitchy now lol. I have a second one too though.

- How many games do you have for it?

I own them all in ROM form (should i be admiting that?) but as for complete games probably about 30.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

hmmm what kind of stories do you want? I guess my best memories of the system was just playing such excellent games, it really does have a library full of classics.

Another good memory was buying the excellent magazine Super Play every month so i could read all about the latest SNES news/reviews. What an excellent rag Super Play was! These days you have the internet so mags have lost they're charm. All the mags ive seen now are devoid of the kind of editorial content you got with Super Play. I have every copy of this on a DVD and i still have about 30 issues of the 47 issue run tucked away...

ahhhh the good ole days :D

I'm gonning to talk about the SFC since I have played a number of games for it. This is in spite of the fact that I love my SNES.

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Probubly, Aera 88 or Gundman Endless Waltz
- What are some of your other favorites?
DBZ Hyper Dimension, The Goemon series
- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
The Goemon series suprised me. I don't know why they didn't import the others, so I guess that that infuriates me a little.
- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
Don't remember. Maybe it was the Dragon Quest/Warrior series or the FF series. I thought they would be a great addition to my SNES collection.
- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
Own it now, play it now.
- How many games do you have for it?
About 30 games but have own another 10 or 20 titles.

I will eventually have more than one post in this topic, but heck I figure I start one now and do another later as my SNES experience expands.

1st off I got back into it January 17, 2006 when I decided to repurchase an SNES after donating mine to a cousin circa '99

From then to now, I've been a diehard fan, and it's my favorite system, now and undoubtedly, forever. I loved my Saturn for 4 years, but once my passion died in late 05, I almost slipped outta gaming for good. But over my winter break I had the urge to revisit an old friend. And the rest is history.

- What is your favorite game on this system?

I still haven't played a lot, but I will always be fond of the Bomberman games, Street Fighter series, World Heroes 1 and 2, Tournament Fighters etc. Right now, I don't have a definite #1

- What are some of your other favorites?

Besides those I have a ton. I like too many of 'em. Most I find great value in, even if it's a slightly above average title. These games are just magical and IMHO the best system ever. The Combatribes deserve a special mention as well. This game I rented about 6 times over a 5-year-span spanning 4 different stores. Now that's crazy!

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

B.O.B and SWAT Kats caught me off guard. I played both just to try it for a bit, and that became an addiction where I beat both games. They're not great platformers, but solid. Just goes to show you how good the SNES is.

Infuriated? Duds like Captain America, Dracula, Doom and Battle Blaze to name a few. UGH

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

Lake Tahoe vacation, late 1991. Me and 15 friends (and our parents of course, I was only about 8 years old) rented out a huge cabin. One Sunday everyone left as I slept in. They let me sleep in. When I came downstairs it was so empty and the house made a lot of creepy noises. I plugged in Final Fight and F-Zero I still recall, and was WOW'ed by 'em both

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

Yes to both

- How many games do you have for it?

Right now, 515? Haven't counted it proper yet, but def. over 500. Yes, in 11 months. Actually I haven't bought a game in a long while as I dried up much of my want list, so I actually got to 500 games like... 8, 9 months? I bought 100 games in like... a 4-week span in March! I've completed my US library and right now I'm working on getting the final 8 to 10 obscure Japanese imports (you might have noticed my ongoing Obscure SFC thread in Classic Gaming... I love spreading the word on obscure gems!)

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

Too many, I'll share lots more in future posts in this topic. For now... definitely having $450 paypal balance in February. I sold a bunch of my Saturn games I no longer played (around 100!) and spent my paypal balance LIKE CRAZY on SNES games won off eBay (via last second sniping of course ;) ) It was such a high -- a great period and I enjoyed every second as I knew it was my last 'hurrah' so to speak as far as this hobby is concerned.

As I said, I bought like 100 games in a month... a crazy feat I will never ever do again. I had as many as 7 packages arriving in ONE day, and the mail lady not only knew me but she hated coming to my house as she knew some lifting would be required, LOL

For 60 days straight I didn't go a day without at least winning one SNES game off eBay. That is MAD!

I've had some insane bulk orders. $295.... my biggest... $362! Bunch of $100+ orders.

I'm happy I've kept a gaming log/tab of my buyings... I didn't do this with Saturn and regret it horribly. Thankfully I've learned from my mistakes and have rectified them. One day I'll look back through the 60+ or so sheets I have detailing every buy, every eBay win (usually with a 3 second snipe story attached) and lots of little details I wrote down that I knew if I didn't, I'd forget

I advise anyone to keep a tab if they've got the will. It really pays off to have a historical recording. 2, 3 years from now, it'll be a blast to read.

My complete collection of the entire 47-issue run of SUPER PLAY magazine (plus GOLD) remains a favorite memory. I waited over 2 months, but it finally came in all its mint glory. It was a once-in-a-lifetime type eBay win. She charged me 40 GBP shipping... total was 95 GBP ($183)

When it came box said 86 GBP shipping, so she miscalculated, only made 9 GBP profit! Overseas shipping alone should be $200+! Talk about lucking out.

I have too many good memories/stories about SNES but I'll stop here and save the rest for some other time.

My goal now is to secure the final handful of wants on SNES/SFC and be done buying completely by Christmas. Then, in 2007, it will be the year I officially retire from spending any more $ on video games, but instead, enjoying them from time to time as I also put a premium focus on my real life ambitions.

- What is your favorite game on this system?
Zelda: Link to the Past

- What are some of your other favorites?
Street Fighter 2 series, Mortal Kombat series, Super Mario World, Fatal Fury 2, WWF Royal Rumble, Final Fight series. Those are just a few.

- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?
I was surprised by the lack of good sports games. Any game based on a movie license infuriated me, those would include Beethoven's 2nd and Cool World. Don't ask how those ended up in my possession.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?
It was back when the system first came out and there was a kiosk in Kay Bee or Toys R Us playing a demo of Super Mario World. I was hooked.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?
I owned it a year or so after it came out. I no longer own the system but will probably pick one up again soon.

- How many games do you have for it?
Just 2 at the moment. Nolan Ryan Baseball and Final Fight. I liquidated some of my old favorites on Ebay, when I was in need of some cash. At one time, I had 30-40 titles.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?
I used to be unbeatable at Street Fighter 2 (the original) in my area. I frustrated many of my friends who could not match my fighting prowess.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

I posted my 1st entry 11/15/06... one month later I would like to share further stories of my adventures with this great system if I may. :)

Well I mentioned in my previous post that I highly recommend every serious gamer to keep a log of their game acquiring and spending. For you multi-system users I understand how that might be too damn time consuming. Hell, I tried to do a SNES-NES-GEN log all at the same time and just never got off the ground with the NES/GEN logs. So it's def. easier if you have just 1 system to focus your energy on

I got caught behind a bit, I haven't bought a WHOLE lot these past 2 months, but I did fall behind on eBay wins, maximum bids, and all that good stuff. Anyway, yesterday I made the conscious effort to sit my ass down and finish it before 2007 kicks round the bend. It took roughly an hour but I finished my loggings up to my last SNES purchase, and I'm sitting at 540 SNES/SFC games... wow!

Anyway, with that out of the way, this time last year I just had the best college semester of my life. Yes, it was Fall 2005. From September to December I experienced the greatest semester I've had at school... not so much grade-wise, but experience-wise. It was my 2nd to last semester before I graduated, and I always had the goal to make it in a school play.

I had auditioned a couple times in my previous years, but I never made callbacks.

Anyway, to get to the point I finally made one. I finished that semester on a really strong high note. As break rolled around I had 6 weeks to enjoy myself. I finished my Saturn collection August 2005 (started January 2001, library of 330 games) and was playing Saturn Bomberman with my cousins largely over the break.

It was great fun.

But one day in early January 2006, I was alone and had the urge to play a platformer. I looked at the 330 games I owned. I realized there weren't many. Then I recalled all the platformer goodness I had played on the SNES... and all the countless games I always wanted to play and rent back in the day but just never did (i.e. B.O.B, Rocky Rodent, Equinox, Double Dragon V [for better or worse], all the RPG's, Aladdin etc) I missed out on a ton, and the rest is history.

The first game I bought was "Power Moves" off eBay. As I logged on, there were 38 seconds to go I recalled, and even though I didn't buy the system yet, I knew it was faith. I won the game and it was actually the 1st import game I ever played when I rented it way back in late '92 at this hotshot independent diehard gamers rental outlet. So it was gravy to have that "history" there... that nostalgia backing it

I found shortly a guy online who was selling a great condition SNES, along with no less than 30 (!) games I also wanted, and I bought the whole she-bang. I still remember it arriving on a RAINY AS HELL Monday afternoon, January 30, 2006

Unfortunately, I was home but I had an advanced acting class at 4 PM. From my window I saw the UPS guy carrying the HUGE box to my door in the pouring rain. It was around 3 PM, so sadly I could not enjoy it right there and then. On a side note, it always seems when I get a highly anticipated package, I got shit to take care of. Just this past November 10th of 2006 (a Friday) I received my last "OMG that's TEH RARE STUFF!" package... 11 SFC games I had my eye on for MONTHS.

But what did I have to do in the next hour? Get ready for my friend's wedding banquet.

Anyway, back to what I was saying. (hey, it's 2:38 AM right as I type this and I am a writer... I love to pontificate on the past... excuse me if this is becoming overly long =P ) So I went to my acting class, and actually had some of the cats from the play I made in that class, so it was pretty cool. But the whole time I was thinking about the class ending so I could go home and fire it up.

That night, I had a choice of over 40 SNES games to pick from. The 1st? You betcha, Power Moves baby. Oh yeah. And I loved it, even if the game isn't very good... it's a big nostalgic guilty pleasure. Oh man the memories flowed back to me like a river and I felt like it was late 92 all over again.

Over the next 6 months specifically, I went on an ABSOLUTE RAMPAGE. By July 26, one day shy of my Birthday, and a littler over 6 months since I began buying SNES games (Janurary 17) I had bought my 400th (!!) game.

I've kept a tab on all my purchases, and one day I'll add all the prices up, see how much I wasted haha.

Anyway, this was another story of my SNES memories. Next time, in the new year, I'll share a memory from not 2006 but back in the day, where I had just SO MANY fond memories as I had a gaming group who LOVED video games, and we had sleepovers about once a month, legendary sleepovers, parents and friends, many families, and us kids stayed up til 1, 2 in the morning playing various SNES games. Best damn times of my life still. Just the sheer innocence I kinda miss from those days.

Anyway, that'll be next time. Be good y'all

- What is your favorite game on this system?

This is a tough question. Everyone wants to say Chronotrigger. As an rpg, that game was very well done for it's time, for any time on that matter. But it just wasn't FUN for me. One of my favorite titles for the SNES is Mega Man X2. Final Fantasy 3 is also great.
- What are some of your other favorites?

TMNT 4, Kirby's Avalanche, the Bomberman series, Pocky and Rocky, Demon Crest, Final Fight 2 and 3, Firestriker, bust-a-move. There are so many solid titles on the snes. That's what makes it such a memorable and time-honored system.
- What games surprised you? Infuriated you?

Actually some of the sports games surprised me. I got pretty hooked on Ken Griffey's ball games, even last month I played through the better half of a season.
The Battletoads\Double Dragon game was kind of a bummer. It's much too difficult to be enjoyed fully. The same can be said for several of the DD games on the snes, a sorry state for what was a great NES series.

- Do you remember the first time you saw the system in action? What game was it? What was your reaction?

I played NBA Jam with my friend for the first time on his new system and almost flipped out, it was so fun! I was about 10, and never had I seen a sports game move that fast, the action was unbelievable! My how times have changed.

- Did you own the system "back in the day"? How about now?

No. I was sternly a Sega Genesis believer. In my old age (20) I've since abandoned my Genesis all-together for the 16 bit wisdom of the snes. I was convinced that the Genesis was far superior to anything the snes had to offer. Plus, all of the games on the snes were just too cartoony and cheesy for me as an adolescent boy, it was the "girly system". I bought my first SNES when I was 18, in 2005 and I don't know where my Genesis is now... Probably somewhere floating around in Long Island, NY.

- How many games do you have for it?

I have about 55 plus a super scope and multi-tap. Im starting to collect them, but it's a slow and expensive process. All of the games worth getting are way too much dough for a college kid to just buy up all at once. I also have 4 or 5 imports.

- Any stories surrounding the system that you can share with us?

I bought a copy of chronotrigger for 3 bucks at a yard sale! I sold it immediately on ebay after beating it and bought 6 more games with the money from it. Which for me was a bargain, I experienced the game PLUS got to haul in 6 more for my collection, score!

Ah SNES, I remember it well.
Not the best system/platform in the world, but I liked it nevertheless. Mainly because I collected about 100 carts for it and then traded the console/carts for a PSX upon release in UK. Still had to pay a bit extra, since SNES carts were worth zilch... Anyway, never looked back...

Mind you don't mean to say I didn't enjoy the SNES, it is a nice platform with good games indeed, just never matched Genesis' gameplay though.

Hold on, best game on SNES...Mr. Do!
