I searched but could not find a thread on this, and I hope I'm posting it in the right section. Name some games, systems, accessories, etc that you have either found in someones trash, or saved from being thrown away!
There a bunch of people at my work who said they had a bunch of "old useless games" that they were gonna throw away. I told them not to and that I woukd take some. 1 guy is looking for all his old SNES games and he is going to give them to me when he finds them.
Also, last year my friend Ryan went to college, he had a sega genesis and about 30 games that we would always play, anyway I asked him if I could have it and he said I could, when he went home from college after being away for only a few months, he discovered his mom had thrown away his sega genesis and ALL the games. He was pissed...

Umm, nothing yet. Somehow I'm not really the type to paw through other people's garbage, unlike those so called "dumpster divers" I've heard about. So nothing.

lessee now: last week at gamestop, they were cleaning out the drawers dehind the counter and the manager was about to dump a bunch of stuff, but i stiopped him and asked what they were tossing. i ended up with a bunch of pc demos, some killer 7 cards, a few music cd samplers and two tekken art books they weren't going to throw away, but deciided to give out to anyone who bought something (good thing i had a credit when i walked in)...
about 2 years ago, i was taking out the trash and when i opened the compactor room door, i saw a copy of final fantasy IX on top of some newspapers. i laughed out loud and said "it's not a bad game!" to no one in particular before opening the case. the game and manual were in perfect shape except for disc 3, which had a weird looking mark on the bottom.
to make a long story short, i couldn't find my memory card with the save file so i had to replay the game to see what the problem was: the game skipped like a giddy schoogirl and then froze completely during the cinematic that opens the disc. a few hours of perma-spin, elbow grease, and a sore arm later and the game was good as new.
other than that, while out walking i was almost hit in the head by a flying copy of star wars episode one for the ps a few years back. i guess someone really hated the game...

I found a mini Pac-Man arcade game in somebody's trash about 10 years ago. It was (and still is) in great working condition. Another example of rich people throwing away anything older than 5 years.

Well I found my own Nes in the trash. I once gave it to my nephew, and when we moved, he left it outside in the rain on the side of the house. I didnt think it still worked. My sister threw in the trash, and I rescued it.
Well i got one of those 72 pin things off of ebay and fired it up. It still works today.

Found a 3D0 with a game still in the drive. Can't remember the name of the game, but the bad acting still haunts me to this day.
SNES with all the hookups but sadly, no games.
Final Fantasy X. Slightly scratched but still playable.
I found an NES, with a Miracle Piano Teaching System. I've long since sold it. :P

I kind of got some stuff out of the trash once.
Back when I first started collecting I was in a local thrift store and they had a big stack of ventage computer stuff stacked up outside of the area where they take in donations. I thought it was stuff waiting to be sorted and priced, so I asked when they would be put out for sale. Their answer was that they were going to take them to the dump.
I ask them is I could buy some of it and they said ok. I filled up a shopping cart with stuff and gave they $10 for the cart full. I can't remember everything I got but I do remember I got my first Commodore 128 (boxed), a Commodore 64, a VIC 20 or two, 2 Atari 2600 and a bunch of software, books and carts.
After that they seemed to put all of the old computer and video game stuff out for sale. No more cart fulls for $10. :(

A few months ago at a neighbors garage sale I saw a large box with the virtual boy logo and the words "rental display". I freaked and ran over there, but it was full of wire hangers. I asked him about it and he said the box was just something he found in a dumpster when he was moving. Anyway, I paid $2 for the hangers just to have the box. Not a great find or anything, but interesting.
My wife works at Gamestop and they chuck the Gameboy game boxes, but she asked them to save them for her. So I guess you could say I got dozens of boxes and instructions for various GBA games out of the trash.

I found a complete N64, Ogre Battle 64 and a couple old PC games a couple months ago on the curbside next to my sister's house. I already owned a N64 and Ogre Battle but I still grabbed them. I mean, who's gonna pass up a free system and one of its rarest games?

I found a Genesis model 2 box in my neighbor's trash one day. I didn't dig through it or anything, it was just kind of there, waiting to be rescued. It was actually in great shape, just some dirt & dust needed to be cleaned off. It now sits proudly atop one of my bookshelves of doom. :D
Where the heck do you people live? I can't believe so many people are finding games about to or that have been thrown out?

I yanked my tetris box from a waste bin behind the counter at Gamestop. And that's about it.

Live in Michigan? The parents of a friend of mine threw out a Pac-man arcade machine, but I dont know what kind. It angers me.
The only thing I really found was a third party Xbox controller.

I'm not going to go into dumpster dive finds because I'll be writing forever..
Of stuff left at the Flea Market..
I've been given,Atari 2600s,Atari 7800,Nintendo's,NES games,SNES,handheld games that were going to be thrown out...by family members, friends of family members, people that work with family members.
I do not go digging in the garbage:
I have found Game systems sitting on top/sides of Garbage cands/bags ..One NES I found had a big holeon the top shell like the door was ripped out and maybe hit with a hammer..It worked though.
My last find was a Atari 5200 (2 port) System (as I have a 4 Port)..The Atari 5200 was on top of a mass of trash/junk taken out of the two door down from me house that was being renovated.(it works)
It must of been in the basement from the look of what it was with..
It must of been out there for 2 days or so...maybe more...It was right near the street I was surprised no-one who drove by picked it up..(quick)
I had went out and while driving back up the street I spotted it from down the block(far)..I had two controllers and a few games..
I never did go and look again to see if anything else video game related was put out there as I didn't want my neighbors seeing me garbage picking......A few days later and the mass pile was gone.
Go Figure:..I threw out a whole bunch of stuff, old Computers/old Camcorders and my neighbor swooped up all that stuff...

I picked up a loose, working colecovision from down the street last year.
Also, I saw a boxed NES system at the curb on garbage day with a free sign on it, but when I went back to get it, it was gone. :(

I saw a cocktail cab with a "free" sign on it.
Apon inspection, seeing all that was included was a working coin door, and alot of mouse droppings, I passed.
