Edit: This is, well, I dunno. Somebody posts a link later on in this thread that explains what it is. I guess it's necessary for me to post this to let people who don't like reading more than five lines at a time know that it's totally not what we're looking for. Sorry. It was fun while it lasted.

Somebody posted a picture over at the Some Forums. Here it is:

I haven't heard any cite for this information, but what the poster said was that the controllers won't have a joystick; rather the controller will detect the movement of your hand a specific way.

Well, it's definitely got some uses, but I also don't see anything here that a regular analog joystick doesn't offer. Maybe if when I walk, my character onscreen walks...but this seems to encourage floating and death grips (if you try to move your hands about to get a more comfortable hold, you'd inadverdently fall off a cliff, for example).

Is this legit or a crock? I'm certainly hoping this wouldn't be the only option.

What do you do, wear the controller? Stick it to the sides of your head? All I can say is WTF!

What does the text in that picture say?

I think I read somewhere that the controller is still in the testing phase--as in the design has not been finalized.

There appears to be an analogue thumbstick in the first controller piece on the image... unless the text around it says something like "Farewell to thumma stick!"

The gyroscopic rumour has been around for a while (as I am sure you know) and there has been plenty of time for either leaks of info, or fakes - either of which this may be.

I could just see how frustrated I could get playing a platformer with strict timed jumps - waiting on a platform for another to move into jumping distance and unintentionally walking off the edge while reaching for a drink. LOL

At least the folks who naturally "lean" into their games will "appear" to be on the same playing field.

Yeah, I guess this would be a leaner's dream, lol.

I weaned myself off leaning in the first...hmm...after playing games a few times. I don't want to relearn bad habits! :P

HAHA

What I don't get is...where are the buttons?! WHERE ARE THE BUTTONS

I see one analog stick, one d-pad, no buttons...this doesn't make any sense

The gyroscopic thing was speculated on in this thread from a few months back:

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57024&highlight=revolution+controller

The pics make it appear that the controller comes in two separate pieces...I'd be concerned about balance issues. Holding two controllers at once feels pretty unnatural...ever play NES Smash TV?

I have zero faith in the gyroscopic controller theory anymore. Everyone got all antsy when they saw a gyroscopic patent and assumed it was for the Revolution. Most failed to slow down to see that it was actually used in Yoshi Topsy Turvy and Wario Ware Twisted.

Then again, I may be wrong. Gotta love rumors and speculation :)

^^ Agreed. It would not be possible to hold those and use the d-pad/control stick and oddly placed buttons underneath. I'm not raining on anybody's gyroscope parade, I just think the picture is bullplop.

what a load of shit. thats enough for me to not buy the system. i certainly DO NOT want to wave my hands around like a moron trying to make stuff happen on screen. i tried it with the eye toy and there was a reason i didnt buy it.

nintendo really has a knack for lame hardware inventions... does anyone else here smell Power Glove and/or Virtual Boy?

I figured this was another Nintendo rehash thread, discussing Super Gyromite as a Revolution launch title.

That would be awesome. We would get a Revolution R.O.B v 2.0 or something.
