Well, this is the classic DP thread that I notice myself starting from time to time. It's just fun to see how much our fellow board members know.
The rules are quite simple. Name the game stated in the above post correctly and you get to do the same (Only with a different game). Don't forget to give your details if you guess one correctly!
Here we go:
*This classic, but sometimes forgotten, SNES game featured a side scrolling, harmonica playing, creature that detached it's limbs to attack enemies.

Since Fenris hasn't made a question yet, I'll make one as a side question for you guys:
In this classic multi-level platform for Atari, you play a dude in a full-body swimsuit and jump over mushroom-thingies to get glowing items. When enough are grabbed, you get the key to the next level.
(Sorry if the description is vague, but I can't give it all away)
Iron Monkey
01-12-2003, 08:38 PM
Is ALSO game of "PLOK".
Eddie Fast instead of Maybe.

I'll describe another game:
In this C64 game, you played as a wrestler named Gorgeous Greg. It was a wonderful wrestling game.

Archon, right? I love that game.
And here's my entry:
In this underrated PSX title, the player controls a Norse goddess who gathers the souls of dead warriors.

It's cheating to look up the answers with Google, right? Yeah, I thought so.

So what's the next question, Kaine?
bargora
01-13-2003, 06:58 PM
OK, Kaine must be out on a date. So until he gets back...
This 8-bit multi-platform game made you curse at the screen (at least it had me cursing) sometimes when the bat would steal your crown.

Mountain King I'm guessing...

Pacman? Though essentially a conversion, it was out on the 2600 before the cartoon series got made ;)
bargora
01-14-2003, 09:51 AM
Mountain King is correct, for Atari 8-bit computers and Atari 5200. As for an Atari game other than Pac-Man made into television series, beats me.

Heres one since no one answered my other one...I guess I actually stumped you guys LOL
This game is for Colecovision and for C64. It is a mild RPG featuring a stick man going through different mazes fighting monsters and getting keys.
And my other one just in case people probably forgot:
In this C64 game, you played as a wrestler named Gorgeous Greg. It was a wonderful wrestling game.

Not cartoon but live action.
Came out in the 90's

@Pressure Cooker: I'm gonna guess "Gateway to Apshai" and "Bop 'n Wrestle", respectively.
@Kaine, I don't understand one thing: was the game from the 90's or the TV show? It's unclear in your "hints".

Trixie's right!!
Seaquest the series came out in the 90's on NBC!

01-14-2003, 03:59 PM
Great job DP. Got both of them.
And to Trixie...the game Seaquest wasn't based on the show. You probably know that and were just joking, though.
Heres one:
A wonderful FPS for the PC by Apogee. You infiltrate a cult to destroy it. Very cool bosses.
P.S. I hope no one is cheating and looking these up. That would ruin the whole fun of the game.

I'll say Rise of the Triad.

Congrats, you're correct.
Heres one nobody will guess...unless they cheat or are EXTREMELY well versed in all video games.
This little-known PC fighting game is virtually unheard of. You can pick from different mythical monsters and fight each other in a dungeon arena. Came out around the early 90's.

Isn't she right? You never said the game was based on the TV show - just that it had the same name, right?

Seaquest was released for the Atari 2600, Seaquest DSV was a tv sci-fi series that shared the same name as said game, but like the Buster and Babs Bunny, no releation.

Hmmm... is it Battle Monsters? I know that came out on the Saturn in Japan but it might have also been on PC.
Pressure Cooker

No...it's not Battle Monsters but what a great guess. Really close plot-wise though.
Hint #1
Game starts with a C.

Ok...the answer was Champions of Zulula. (I actually stumped ya'll X_x )
Here's an easier one:
A wonderful mixed strategy game for the NES set during a centuries old war. Mixture of "mini-game" type scenarios.
Hmmm... North and South?
Never actually played it but it's the first game that popped in my head and this might be my one time to get one of these right!
Pressure Cooker
01-16-2003, 01:16 PM
Your correct, Keir. It's your turn.
P.S. North and South is one of the best NES games. You don't know what you're missing.
This game might deem you "promising" or "amusing"...

Not too vague, I think. Escape From The Mindmaster.
(You know, I might have guessed North & South above, but I tend not to think of the Civil War as "centuries old", seeing that it was only around 140 years ago).
Correct! Your turn.

I considered that fact too, but another way of looking at it is that this is the 21st century and that was the 19th.
