Oh, I need to add last Saturday's late Saturn find:
I went to a nearby outside flea market, and a guy sold me the following for $25:
complete Saturn with 2 controllers, RF switch and power cord (no box)
Batman Forever: The Arcade Game (complete)
Command & Conquer (complete)
Scud the Disposable Assassin (loose)
Madden 97 (complete)

He even threw in an AC adapter that fit in the back of the Saturn. Man, I have been having fun with that thing since last week...

Went to some Boyscout rummage sale down the road. They usually have something, so I went.
Heres what I found (what I bought will be marked)
Acclaim 'Double Player' Wireless NES controllers with IR plug and instructions ($2, bought)
'Sega' logo Genesis game case, holds 10 games ($1, bought)
Superscope with no plugin ($2)
Original Gameboy case ($1)
Wico 2600 stick (.50)
Random 2600 stick (.50)
They usually have systems and games, but they didnt this time. Although, where all this videogame stuff was stacked, there was a rather large 'blank spot' on the table, so I bet there WAS something there at one time. I just couldnt force myself to get up at 9 am to go to a rummage sale.

Hey everyone! I'm new here and checking the site out. I'm a huge gamer and I especially love to emulate older systems. I see a lot of posts regarding cool finds at garage sales. So if you were to find one game/cartridge that you would consider the "find of a lifetime", what would it be?

Finally! This is the first true find I've had in quite some time. It feels good to finally be able to contribute to this thread.
I checked out a store that's somewhat out of the way that I haven't been to in awhile. I've recently started getting back into SNES games, and this place had the motherload. Here's what I was able to get:
Paladin's Quest - $10
Batman Returns - $5
F-Zero - $5
Super Castlevania IV - $5
U.N. Squadron - $5
Brandish - $10
Skyblazer - $10
Illusion of Gaia - $10
Maybe not the find of the century, and I probably overpaid on a few titles, since they were loose, but I was happy! Other games they had for around the same price that I can remember that I'll probably end up going back for:
Uniracers
Rock n' Roll Racing
Brain Lord
Phalanx
Secret of Mana
Pilotwings
Actraiser 2
And tons more ...
The funny thing is, a guy and two girls came in and they were looking at the X-box section, which is located right next to the N64 wall. The guy laughed, picked up Mario 64, turned around and started talking to the kid working there. The conversation, as follows:
Guy: Wow, people actually buy these games?
Kid: Of course, some of them are classics.
Guy: Maybe back in 1997 they were ... who cares about them now? Only 90 year olds or someone like that ...
Kid: Funny you should mention that ... we had an older guy come in a few hours ago and raid some of our N64 section.
Meanwhile, there I am, 8 SNES games in my hand. Pretty ironic.

Brand new and sealed.
Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO (xbox) $9.49
Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (PS2) $11.99
Soul Caliber 2 (xbox) $7.99

I had a pretty nice find to start off the weekend.
I found both of these lots at a tag sale. The woman had them all bundled up nicely in a box and covered in saran wrap.
Lot 1 (http://home.comcast.net/~griking/lot1.jpg)
and
Lot 2 (http://home.comcast.net/~griking/lot2.jpg)
There were a dozen complete Dreamcast games and another 14 or so loose. No clue why someone would throw away jewelcases.
I was really happy about the Genesis lot though. I never had a CDX plus Gunstar Heroes alone was worth what I paid for everything.
Not a bad pickup for $22 total. :D
Mayhem
06-25-2005, 04:12 PM
MLS Soccer 2002 (GC) - 4 GBP
From the local friendly Game Focus in London... this is an uncommon right (for those who collect Cube)?
Also got Red Faction 2 for 6 GBP, so overall, it's cheap prices ahoy...

How much?
$19.99. However, it was at a store where they offer a deal "Buy one, get the second half-price. So I got a $10 game for $5 after that.
I really bought It to play though, so I didn't mind shelling out 20 bucks on it. Usuallly I can't stand paying more than $5 for a game.

I didn't get to yard sale this morning because we had a birthday party for both of my kids. When one mother came for her kids she told me of a yard sale her brother was having and he had games ( she knows I collect).
So I went to it, got a nice SNES game for 2 bucks, King Arther& the knightsa of Justice. Also took Super Soccer Champ SNES for another deuce. He had Halo 2 for 20 Cdn, but I suck @ FPS, so I left it for someone who would appreciate it more.
This could turn into more though, his buddy who it turns out lives right next to me, said who would drop by my place with a bunch of SNES/NEs stuff for me to check out and buy, maybe some other systems, so here I am waiting patiently lol. Its even nicer if we can get the games delivered to us lol. I'll follow this up if he drops by.

Did pretty good today:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/CrushCrawfish/Picture.jpg
N64 system
2 controllers
Bag full 'o manuals
2 memory cards
Quest 64
Mario 64
Waverace
Battletanx
$8 for all of it
SNES
Mystical Ninja
Super smash TV
Donkey kong country 2
Battletoads in battlemaniacs
$2 each, $8 total.
So I spent about $16 for all that. Not bad, not bad at all.
I passed on the following:
Ratty, yellowed SNES w/ DKC1, Dirt trax, Dr. franken, & seperation anxiety. The guy wanted $40 and refused to go any lower. He said that games cost $40 each at the store, and that it was a great bargain. I loved the look on his face when I offered $10. Hehehe.
Another SNES system at the sale where I got the 4 games. It had the box, which I really would've liked to have, but he wouldn't go lower than $50! @_@ Fortunately, he had no problems selling the games seperately, so I took all the good stuff and left him with pretty much nothing but sports games.
WTF moment of the day: A sign on someone's lawn that said "Equal rights for insects!" :hmm:

Well, the beginning of my summer of game hunting while on vacation at my folks' got off to a rather sucky start.
First, the other day I went to a GameStop, looked through every single PlayStation game (even the loose ones, in case there was something valuable like a Suikoden 2 or something), and didn't find jack squat worth buying.
Then today I went to my greatest store for finds last summer, only to find the selection poorer than it was last summer when I left. Doesn't look like they've gotten in a single new SNES, Genesis, DC, and N64 game since then, and what's left has been thoroughly picked over, leaving nothing but sports games behind (although I'm half tempted to buy all the complete SNES sports games just 'cause I almost never see complete SNES games anymore). There was a large amount of PlayStation games, but the selection was terrible and the condition of the games left a lot to be desired. They were having a buy 2, get 2 sale, and I could barely find four games worth getting. In the end, I picked up:
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage
The World Is Not Enough
Crash Team Racing
Starblade Alpha (missing the manual, but I couldn't pass up an R7; this makes my third R7, and they're all for PlayStation, for some reason)
For a total of 6 bucks. The condition of all of them are so-so, but at least all but Starblade Alpha are complete.
Then I headed over to the Goodwill, and while I found a few game related items (Gran Turismo, three NES carts [SMB/Duck Hunt, Bases Loaded 2, Captain Planet], and Genesis sports titles), obviously none were worth buying.
Here's to hoping I have better luck at the other shops I've yet to check.
EDIT: Gah, looks like my lame finds got even lamer. CTR and Spyro 2 don't appear to work. :( Now I'll have to return them and replace them with crappy games. >_<
Psone Dulshock White controller new 2.50
Dreamcast Lightgun (Interact) $20

Pretty pleased with today's car boot sale finds...

Edit: I was well and truly had with Crash Team Racing. It turns out the CD had a printed cover and once I peeled that off, I discovered it was a rental someone stole! Bah.
And then I broke a case while cleaning it. Today is not going very well!

Okay here are my finds of today...
First of all i wanna clear somethin up before pictures...
Each week it looks like i spend an absolute fortune on my games.
That is not the case, if you read each caption on these pictures, youll see that i spend next to nothing...
The only games i spend alot on are games i know i really want, or valuable games. I refuse top pay more than £5 per game usually, as im a real cheapskate and i know they will turn up at car boots eventually!
I was talking to Jon (THATinkjar) about this...
He was sayin how much i should get Tekken 5, in reply i said "The price of Tekken 5 alone could fund everythin i bought today" and that is true...
Second of all, out of the games/systems i buy, i only keep what i need out of them, leaving over half of them for resale to fund each weeks hunting...
I just wanted to clear that up as ive hadmessages saying "How do you do it!" and so on...
Its all about resale and bargaining!

Hey, you did alright there Adam. I nearly bought that MK3 and RE Pad but was on a tight budget! All I got was that dirty old Snes & FIFA for £2.50 and that nice Sniper Scope & Silent Scope for X-box for £5. The other £10 I had was spent on some stuff for my (not born yet) baby :D
I had a rummage thru some stuff I got last time I was at the car boot and I found under a massive pile of Amiga pirate discs an A1200 O_O

And as allways, great finds cauterize, I love the Sonic doll LOL
As for me, nada games except for a complete Super Mario World. Man, I can't find anything here! There is one flea market that's worth going to, but there's an arabic guy that sells SNES and NES games and he allways goes around and buys games from the other vendors before the place opens and then resells them for 7-16 $.
He also sells consoles. You pay him 40 $ and he gives you an yellowed NES that looks like he has used it as a dinner plate, two broken controllers full of hair and dust (I swear, he doesn't have a single working controller in stock) and a random game that he chooses (always a sport game or one you've never heard off).
Well, I hope you other guys have more luck than me :P
