Check out the new consoles added to my collection today! I never thought I would get one of these, and I got it all for less than $100.00!

So what the hell are they? O_O

Do they play any games worth playing?

He's probably in Japan. I've seen the Koei handheld before (probably on Assembler), but the rest is news to me.

Wha? 4 systems in 3 different languages? Where are you from?

BTW, does that Star Chess system have anything to do with Star Chess for Arcadia 2001?

I am in Maryland for those who asked :)

I have a friend who goes to Japan now and then, and keeps an eye out for me. Anyway, The Gakken is a very rare system..here is a link to the only one I have ever seen for sale:

http://www.retrogames.co.uk/stock/html/other_consoles.html

And a bit more info:

http://darkwatcher.psxfanatics.com/console/gakken.htm

I am getting down to the impossible to find stuff now...new additions are going to be few and far between. Anyone got an Olivetti Envision or Entex Adventurevision they wanna sell? :)

Color me impressed. Awesome find!

I even remember reading about the Gakken on Darkwatcher's page a long time ago.

Jopac! Holy cow, an Odyssey2 that speaks French! LOL

I have to admit, the two things that interest me the most out of this rather impressive haul are that LCD-looking Koei thing in the second pic, and the whole Star Chess setup. Very interesting indeed.

If anyone wants some more pics of any of them, let me know...I will put some up.

The second item is a Koei Pasogo, "fun." I mean...well, it'd be nice to have...maybe. The damn thing has more chips dedicated to driving the LCD than it does running the actual program! Don't expect to play Contra on that...looks like you might have an instant complete system there. Anyhow, heh, I'm not really knocking it; I was considering getting one myself at one time.

How is the Compact Vision?

I'd like to see some games in action.

$10 says I can do a convincing artist's rendition of the Koei console!

I'd really love to see these in action though...yeah, even the Koei one, even if you can't see the screen due to the quality.

The Gakken I can't get to work, think I need an older TV that I can manually fine-tune. Probably about time I got around to getting one anyway. Anyone got a deal on one?

Thanks!

From what I hear you should be able to get a decent picture on channel 10. That's what I've read about Famicoms, at least...

Nice shots of the PasoGo...hard to believe Koei was trying to sell that while Nintendo already had the Gameboy Color out there. LOL

I don't get anything on channel 10 either. Anyone have any ideas?

It has a channel 1 or 2 switch on the bottom, but I tried both on most channels.

I've always wanted to goto Japan. I wonder if there's a lot of people who speak American or would I need to get a translator to come with me.

I don't even want to go sight-seeing. I'd just like to check out video game shops and weird food stores.

I wonder why there aren't a lot more import places that get stuff like that and sell to us.

I've had luck with Famicom, Super Cassette Vision, & Sega SG-1000 on channel 95 with the console on switch on 1 or channel 96 with the console switch on 2. However I can't get Cassette Vision or TV Vader to work on those channels. I think something about the TV signal output may have changed in 1983/1984. Are you going to sell/trade one of the Gakken consoles? If so I'm very interested.
