If your PSP breaks because God wanted it to break it won't be covered by Sony.

Same goes for the warranty on just about everything.

Jeez, enough Sony bashing (and forum clogging). As Gamereviewgod says, this isn't really news.

so, if you go by that and are very religious, then there is no such thing as a warranty on your psp....if you are religious then you would feel that every single event of every single day was an act of God.....so, you can read that as there is no warranty what so ever on the psp

Umm...no, and even going by this religious nonsense there are varieties of Christian faith that believe God doesn't influence current events. "Acts of God" has a meaning in a legal sense, anyhow.

So then what legally is an "Act of God"?

Sounds like another way of saying "Shit happens, you bought a Sony"

Yeah, the expression "Acts of God" has been legal boilerplate for decades now. Nothing new, regardless of one's spiritual beliefs.

Would it be less offensive, or any more plausible, if the warranty on your PSP said it would not cover damage caused by mischeivous kami?

Are you serious?

Tornado, Earthquake, Telephone pole falling through your house and landing on your PSP. Those are acts of God. Situations that can not be sourced to any individual or company for liability.

I guess I just don't like it when they use the phrase "Act of God". Anything could technically be an act of God. Who's to say it wasn't? Just more legal mumbo jumbo to protect large companies and screw their customers.

Check it out. I found a picture of SCEA's liability underwriters:

So Sony should be responsible if your PSP is carried away in a flood? :hmm:

It's a blanket term for any natural occurance, that's it. Nintendo has the same thing in their warranty policy.

As someone else said, that's on ANYTHING. Most insurance policies even have this clause. If you're walking down the road and lighting hits your PSP, Sony isn't going to buy you a new one, geez, what a friggin shock.

And for another example, you're walking down the street and your PSP suddenly doesn't illuminate anymore or the charging unit stops working. Hey, tough luck, God must have wanted it that way, buy another one.

Actually that's probably a manufacturer's defect and IS covered. Those things aren't supposed to mysteriously stop functioning.

yea, but God caused that manufacturer's defect to happen, so it wouldn't be covered (i know it probably really would be, but i'm just arguing the point that if you read into it, it wouldn't be)

No it really would be regardless of how you or I read it. What matters is how Sony reads it and ultimately the court judge should anyone contest Sony's interpretation. :P

If someone's an athiest and doesn't believe in God does that mean that there are no limitations to their warranty?

I'm just joking a bit here but I can actually see someone trying to argue that one in court. (Hey, people are argueing about the "In God We Trust" being on our money).

So if your PSP is struck by lightning, you can blame it on God? LOL LOL LOL How weird...
