With the permission of a mod I'd like to bring your attention to a new auction site specifically for games and gamers. Only kicked off to the public 12 days ago but already some nice stuff going up..here's a few:-

N64 DDR game and Mat - Jpn N64
http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/auctiondetails.php?id=100971

Radiant Silvergun - Jpn Saturn
http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/auctiondetails.php?id=100796

Mini Space Invaders Table Controller - Jpn PS2 (actually this is mine lol)
http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/auctiondetails.php?id=100770

Nintendo Famicom Satellaview - Jpn
http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/auctiondetails.php?id=100926

Amazingly Rare Geist Force Poster for Dreamcast (unreleased)
http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/auctiondetails.php?id=100922

and the list goes on.

This isn't spam, it is just to make people aware that VGA is being taken seriously and could be a viable alternative to look out for some nice rarities along the way :) (or for selling of course)

btw- there is an issue with viewing categories right now, it is being worked on but at present, when clicking a category it takes you to a view where you need to click each sub seperately. There is a workaround which is listed on the news on the right of the screen.

Not much for US people though. Be nice to see a site around here like that (though I seem to remember it being tried before for some reason).

We'd love more US auctions to be posted, it's UK centric right now because that's where the PR originated and of course we're Brits, but the sooner more US guys started posting the better IMO. :)
Believe it or not approx half the current membership are Americans and Canadians, we keep hammering home the fact it is completely free of seller charges for now. We're confident it will come in time.

Good night that's expensive and priced way above it's value.

A nice addition to the site would be the option for all prices to be shown in your local currency instead of having to use the converter.

I've never seen one personally so couldn't comment on the value. :/
There is a site update this week that should have dual currency support for viewing

Anyone else have any thoughts on the site?

The main problem as far as I see it is that the lack of fees makes it attractive for sellers, but not so much for buyers - every single game I looked at had a reserve that hadn't been met, and it could encourage people to speculatively put nice stuff on with a high reserve 'just in case' someone feels like shelling out a load for it.
I tend to avoid eBay auctions with a reserve wherever possible, and while I like the idea of VGA, I can't see myself spending much time on it unless there's a reasonable chance of getting stuff for a good [read: cheap] price, and from what I saw that's unlikely. If I want to pay the going rate (or what the seller considers the going rate to be), I can usually just do that on eBay anyway.

Actually, thinking about it a bit more, I can't see the need for all the reserve prices - on eBay it's usually to not have the higher fees from a larger minimum bid, but that isn't a problem here.

Why not just list stuff with a higher opening price and no reserve? I'd personally be a lot more inclined to bid without the guesswork involved that comes with reserve prices.

Yeah buts thats something to level at the users and not the site.

The main thing at the moment is trying to get the American people to use it and enjoy the service, Unfortunately they seem to be stuck in ebay's headlights and not willing to give anything else a chance.

The more support this site gets the better it will become, I just wish people would give it a try and spread the news so its more well known.

It's a great alternative for people who either refuse to use eBay, or who can't (Due to not having credit / debit cards Etc...)

It's also a place where people from various gaming forums can choose to list items for sale. Chances are, the person they are buying from / selling to is also a member of certain forums, so new friendships can also be made in the process!

I'll also add that for the rest of July, it's totally free to list anything on VGA. No fees whatsoever!

Kron has done a wicked job of the site, and looks to do quite well if it can get the required userbase.

If anybody is worried about using the site from a sellers point of view as the site is relatively new please don't be.

If you look at the items viewing figures you will already see that they are comparable and in some cases greater than what similar items get on ebay already and thats due to the huge benefit of it being a 100% dedicated site.

Also these are a few examples of my recent auctions and the type of prices they have been able to reach so far:

Darxide:
http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/auctiondetails.php?id=101987

Megaman (Gamegear) If I knew it would have reached this high so early I wouldn't have used a reserve:
http://www.videogameauctions.co.uk/auctiondetails.php?id=101988

Spiderman (32X) same as above:

Well I could spread the news on another board group...if you have any Neo stuff on there. Btw I am too lazy to look. Your site doesnt look to bad though. It should pick up in time...you know. Just hope for the best.

This site has too major problems that need to be changed before anyone participates:

Reserves are insanely high.

It's primarily UK, and the GBP is worth a lot more than the USD, so American's are instantly discouraged.

Reserves are insanely high.

Thats somewhat to be expected while the site is new and people get used to it and exchange feedback, As more users sign up and the sites inventory grows so will peoples willingness to offer items in the market place at face value.

It's primarily UK, and the GBP is worth a lot more than the USD, so American's are instantly discouraged.

The UK and European users have really taken to the site and decided to sell items in their native currency, The US/Canadian guys and girls are more than welcome to start using the site and listing more items in USD and CAD.

Thanks for your comments, Keep them coming as we really want to get it right for everyone.

[quote=Zadoc]Reserves are insanely high.

Sorry. I'm guilty of this i'm afraid. But like Kron said, as the site is new and only has a small initial userbase, it's better for sellers to do this to save from losing out.

PS: The VGA forums aren't being used as much as they could be... So I guess everybody that uses VGA is happy in that case! ;)
