Is the Earthbound beta for NES beatable or did they never finish the whole game?
Same goes for Final Fantasy 2 for NES, can you play through it?

From what I hear it is. It was finished in Japanese - so it would just be the matter of translation. I think the rom that is out there is pretty much complete. Rumor has it that the english version was finished, but shelved for marketing reasons.
Yeah, both of them should be 100% complete.

I have personally beaten the "EarthBound Zero" ROM. So yes, it's beatable.

Yes, both are 100% completable.
Final Fantasy 2 you should not have a problem with... although there are two versions - the translation that you can get to apply to the japanese ROM, or the Nintendo translation that never was released - this prototype was made available from http://www.lostlevels.com.
Honestly, the translation made by, I think the group was (and i may be wrong... it's been a while) Neo Demiforce, was quite a bit better than the unreleased translation for a few reasons, but the major one is that Demiforce had a lot more time to work on it, proofread it, and insert it into the ROM... the one released by Lost Levels was probably an uncompleted project, with many more proofreading updates that would have been made before it was sold in stores...
