Anybody still play MOO II? I still do and I love it. I love to develop ships with a stellar converter on it and go around blowing up planets and then send out the artificail planet builders and building new planets to colonize. I just wish they had done a better job at MOO III.

I still crack it out every now and then.
It is a fantastic game, and I also think that MOO3 is terrible.
I even did a few two-player games with a friend of mine. They take a long-ass time, but it's still fun.
90% of the time, I used either the Silicoids or a custom race slightly deviated from the Silicoids. Likewise, my friend usually used the Psylons. But I can get all the technology I want when I have every hostile planet in the galaxy colonized anyway, so I like my approach better.
Really one of my favorite turn-based strategy PC games. An absolute must for people who enjoyed the Civilization games.
And yes, killing planets with the Stellar Converter is super sweet.
I should reinstall it sometime.

This game = r0><0r. I didn't get into it until it was like $10 in the el-cheapo bin - best $10 I ever spent, probably.
I personally like the Darklons (?). that stealthy race. Then I just steal technology and frame other races and whatnot. It's a great way to get more than one tech for each tier.
I just like building massive fleets of those Death Star ships and rampaging all over the place. A lot of how the game goes depends on the luck-of-the-draw in terms of what planets / systems you start near / in.

I've never played it, but Mrs. PDF can conquer the universe for hours on this game.
It looks interesting - I've never gotten to try it!

Well you should kick the Missus off the computer and give it a whirl. Or get her to teach you how to play.
And I think the race calthaer was groping for is the Darloks. I actually enjoyed playing as them a lot in the first MOO. But to me, spying just didn't seem as significant in the second game. Perhaps it was just my approach that changed. I tend to use most of my spies for defense, because otherwise people steal from me.

I played this game a lot in college. Had big lan parties and played multiplayer with my friends. We pretty much came to the conclusion that Telepathic and Creative were broken, unbalancing abilities and banned them. Ah those were the days...

I end up re-installing and playing a couple games at least once a year or so. I love MOO2. One of the best strategy games ever made imo.
I remember i used to do the online play with the TEN service years ago. Nothing makes you feel more like a geek then getting into some big 8-player match at 9am on a Sunday, and having it end 8 hours later... heh
I actually picked up MOO3 in a bargain bin a couple weeks ago for 10$. Didn't get around to installing it yet....
