where do you see capcom taking the series?
will zombies be replaced by the parasites of re4, or some kind of hyrbid of both storylines? think there will be more outbreak games or ones expanding horrors outside of the umbrella hemisphere?

for some reason i feel like the next game they release will be some kind of spinoff to the series, something more along the lines of dead aim, who knows.
A REAL RE online game would be nice, hell how about a RE online game that hosts up to 200 players per game? go land of the dead style, 180 zombies (human controlled) vs 20 humans, THAT is wat you call RE online :-P

Outbreak might be cool if they took a more tactical approach to it where you controlled a team of S.T.A.R.S. - angle it more like a first person shooter. I've never been a big fan of FPS, but this might convert me if executed well.
The main storyline needs to get back to the roots - yes RE4 was very good, but it offered virtually nothing as far as the current state of Umbrella, Wesker or any of the characters that we know.
Capcom will do something so that Umbrella and the cult forces of RE4 become one entity of evil somehow.
We need to know what happened to Umbrella, Wesker, Ashley Grahm, Jill, Barry, Rebecca, Chris and event that dickhead with the 2 guns from CV (oh wait, he's dead, isn't he? Sorry if I spoiled that one).
I'd also like to see some zombies that look like Shinji Mikami, they come at you and then they cut off their own heads and use them as weapons! :-P

Sherry Burkins
Chris Redfield
Claire Redfield
Jill Valentine
Carlos from RE3
Hunk (but RE4 pretty much has something in there)
Albert Wesker
Barry Burton
Rebecca Chambers
Umbrella of course
Wesker's secret project and underground organization (Mentioned in Code Veronica)
and yes, Steve did die in Code Veronica (The Leo De Crapo wannabe)
Capcom has alot of ground to cover still...

I hate Resident Evil. I like games better when they first come out. When they start to get big and stray too far off the original game I'm not interested anymore.
Now onto answering your question.. I think they might do some sort of spin-off. Sort of like when Threes Company had a spin-off called The Ropers. It didn't do too well.

I actually agree with you I think they have gotten abit tired of the zombie thing. And while RE4 is pretty hot, I cant see this element of enemy spanning 2-3 games.

I LUV the whole RE series always have always will :lovin:
RE4 really kicked ass in just about every way and I cannot wait for the release of RE4 on PS2 :rocker:
The only bitch that I have are all the loose ends with the major characters especially my personal fav Chris and Claire we really need to know what happend with everyone after Code Veronica.
I mean is Capcom going to just skip the story of when Claire,Chris and the others went to the Paris Umbrella HQ altogether or what? O_O

4, to me anyway, is terrible storywise. Getting rid of proper dumb slobbering flesh eating zombies is like getting rid of Robotnik in Sonic.
And while times have changed since prerendered backgrounds, a RE doesn't doesn't seem right without them. Where's the shocking camera that hides enemies?

You poor bastard. RE4 will suffer on the ps2. i admit the videos of it look good so far, but the ps2 is a weaker system and i honestly beleive you will see RE:Outbreak length load times if not worse.
Now on to the meat of this thread, the story. Since his return in Code: Veronica the future of the core story is almost certainly going to be tied to wesker. Wesker is looking to ressurect Umbrella and he has samples of every virus and parasite to appear in RE so far. Wesker is a god damn genus and he seems to have a rather large amount of cash at his disposil. I'm hoping RE5 will finally have the big showdown we've beenwaiting for between him and the Heros of RE.
All that said the only thing i really want in RE5 is an explanation of what the fuck happened to Rebecca. Seriously it's the biggest mystery in the entire series.

I still think that the biggest mystery of the series is how Capcom somehow forgot to put the 'gory' version of the intro to RE1 into the PS1 dual shock directors cut version - when they had specifically advertised that this version would contain all of the little bits originally taken out of the first released due to 'us standards' of games *at the time.*
Though the story is very important, RE4 was VERY FUN. I loved to torment the Los Garudos - or whatever they were called - in various ways with various weapons and environments.
The whole story issue might be one of the reasons that I prefer Silent Hill to RE - b/c Silent Hill is just totally Focked up! yes there is an underlying story that has transcended through the games, (only to exist as slight notions to previous events in Silent Hill 4) - But they don't have to explain every little thing - you can just say, hey, Silent Hill did it! It's kind of like having dreadlocks, no one really asks you why you don't work a steady job, Hey! It's the dreadlocks!
But really I think we all agree that they need to tie up some loose mutha fockin ends. Then they can get onto creating a game that truly ties Megaman to Megaman X.

one of my few disapointments with re4, besides the kind of doldrum story, was how the cool interaction with the enviroment at the village never carried over. what good is a crowd of rabid enemies if they walk in thin corridors or mimic enemy patterns from basically every 3rd person shooter.
one of the few stages that i thought exhibited the new enemy (beside the introductory village scene) was the battle against the monk hoarde right before the crank scene with ashley.
i was bitching to a friend of mine while playing RE oubreak 1, that the part when you board up a doorway in the first level was a great kind of interaction - but never seen again. very few games have pulled off a legitimate barricading scenario, which is horrible being that the zombie (gaming) scene is nearly 10 years old.

the resident evil series is my all time favorite game series ever. i enjoy the game play but i really like the game for its storyline which is one of my favorite aspects of the games. i think by the end of re4 we kinda found out what whesker was up to which pointed out that by re5 he would have some kind of medical experiments using the las plagas and the t & g viruses and whatnot.
while re4 was a great game i think there should be some changes in re5. i'd like to see re5 go back to creepy fixed camera angles, although at times it was hard to control, it really set the atmosphere. also, re4 didn't have the puzzle aspect re games are famous for(the back and forth key finding, finding things you don't use untill well into the game, deciding which objects you should carry around with your prescious little space). i'd like to see these things emplemented back into the next resident evil game
also, a little off topic, but am i the only one who thinks the DS would be perfect for a resident evil game?

No, Resident Evil on DS would really kill the feel of survival horror on a portable screen imho.
Yet, now that I think of it, the touch screen would come in handy for your inventory menu and you can easily check your health from time to time...
I just think the whole "Scare" feel of it would be kind of weak to be presented on a 3 inch screen..

I have a feeling that the guy from Gun Survivor I will turn up in another game. I think Resi IV was made specifically to set them up for the next one.
I think that it is generally implied in Resi IV that the origins of Umbrella's virus is... (Sorry, can't say too much for fear of spoiling for others - The answer is in the storyline of Resi IV and the lack of zombies...)
We all know Capcom love their sequels, and love dragging ot certain franchises. I can't see them abandoning the Resi series just yet though. I reckon they will drag it out for another ten games (Varying genres) at least.
And I agree - An online version with humans playing as zombies and Stars and normal city people would be great!

I hope they keep the gameplay and graphics like 4 .
I beat 4 like 3 times in a week then went and got RE0 and I cant stand it.
If I could change 1 thing about 4 it would be how quck leon can aim his gun becuase once he is in the action stance he pivots and turns extremly slow.

I think something like a dumbed-down Rainbow Six would be nice.
Teams of S.T.A.R.S. agents, you deploy them, control one of them, try to manage the situation, lots of story.
I'd like a real goofball spinoff too, like a "State of Emergency" style beat-em-up but with better gameplay and set in the RE universe.
Or how about a turn-based (or partially turn-based) RE RPG?

In response to njiska's post. ummm ok LOL
I happen to have the Gamecube version and its great but Im still looking forward to the PS2 ver with extras and so are about a million other gamers out there who dont have GCs to play RE4 on ;) also the gods at Capcom have surprised even me with what I have seen so far of the port to the PS2.
Face it man the PS2 is not a bad system and its all about the capabilities of the developers the majority of the time and BTW while I luv the Gamecube its basically on its last legs cause after Zelda there will be nothing. A sad fact but its the truth and theres no way around it. :D

ok...where it is going... i don't know...where i hope it is going:
First let me start by saying if you are a big fan i hope you take my criticism as it is and not a rant saying the game sucks because in theory i would love the game...
so what i really would like to see... better control of the character. I had always stuck with nintendo in the past and therefore missed the RE series when they first came out. Then i though, maybe i should give it a try but do i start with 1 or the latest. then the perfect thing happened, 1 was remade and hugely graphicly inhanced for GC. I was so happy, i practically bought a GC for that game.
Man was i dissapointed! I spent like 2 hours running in weaves as if my character was drunk. OH crap! a zombie better take my 30 second turning around motion and run...oops he got me. Now i understand that you seasoned veterans prolly got it all under control now and are used to these crap controls. But just think from a beginner point of view. I mean look at mario 64...came out before all this and had an amazing control scheme... you tap a little mario moves a little, you hold it all the way down mario runs... you slightly turn, mario turns and the camera follows...you press the analog straight...mario walks straight!
what a concept...and although older than the GC version of RE, much better. After playing through a couple of areas and a boss or 2 I just gave up on the ridiculous controls and thats it....the final blow for my GC was FFCC after which it was promptly put on ebay.
anyways, for the sake of people like me who are new at RE games, please PLEASE PLEASE make the character easier to control, easier to move, and more user friendly.
