What’s up with this auction ? The guys selling a Canadian version of Link that has shrinkwrap on it ? Were Canadian NES games shrinkwraped ? I always thought they just had the black NES seal on the top.
Oh and have you ever noticed that there a direct correlation between spelling a feedback:

That is terrible spelling, however the seller may be French Canadian, and maybe English could be there second language. Also could the game be shrink wrapped by someone to preserve the seal on the top and the stickers that are on the box?

I suppose.... so am I right in saying that Canadian NES games did not have shrinkwrap.

this is a WWBD? what would bronty do?
He's the sealed collector from canada. I'm sure he can shed some light on this. I thought all canadian releases just used the sticker for a seal.

LOL, thanks Josh.
I saw that link also - no doubt in my mind that the plastic is not original. The side seam is brutal - definitely looks like a homebrew (plastic) seal.
Best thing to do (I was going to but decided not to bother, trying to cut back) would be to mail the seller and ask for pics of the top flap area around the sticker to determine if the sticker has been opened or not.
It may be sticker sealed beneath the plastic, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just an open game (that's been resealed in plastic).

Just as a sidenote, I have actually seen some US copies with sticker seals - I have a complete US gumshoe at home that has a the sticker (albeit opened). A friend and I also have identical sealed US stack ups that have both the sticker and the wrap. I have zero doubt that either is legit as they were both bought directly from separate video store inventories from different parts of the US. Anyone else seen US copies like this? I'd be interested in what collectors of completes might have to say on that.

I also know of a US release Golf with the sticker and the factory seal wrap over it. Other US releases also had just the sticker. Duck Hunt and Gyromite come to mind off the top of my head ... just handled them a few days ago.

weird - those dual sealed games make absolutely no sense to me!
As rare as US dual sealed games are, I've never seen a Cdn one - and that link is definitely not legitimately dual sealed.

I too have seen these, and own only one.
I have seen (for sure) a gyromite and stack-up so i know those exist. I also own an Athletic World with a sticker seal (the exact version released prior to stadium events, before nintendo pulled them). I believe that my complete copy of Atheltic World is quite rare as I have never seen another version complete.
Now some of you may know that the Family Fun Fitness version of Athletic World seems to pop up quite often. That is because Bandai used the same cart on the second batch that they released (non-hangtag, with an round seal that is gray and black on the edge). I didn't think they did at first, but i went out of my way to find out. I bought a sealed athletic world (Not the one pictured below, but the one with the non-hangtag) and opened it up. I found a five screw, family fun fitness version of athletic world.
So, could my series 1 box and manual be as rare as a the stadium events box and manual? I would like to think so, and i am always watching (have yet to see another one pop up on ebay). Who knows though...?
Here are the pictures of the seal that is being discussed

Anyone else seen such a nice first gen athletic world? Anyone found one sealed?

Qixmaster - so here's the question about Athletic World. Which version says "Series 1" and which version is blank, that is no labeling of a series at all? I would imagine that the Series 1 version was released first but for some reason I think I have the three security screws with it and a 5 screw version that does not say Series 1 ... I'll have to check. If you have no answers its at least an interesting question. Also, one should note that the Family Fun Fitness Pad included copies of Athletic World much like the Power Pad included copies of World Class Track Meet.

My AW is exactly the same, but not as good condition, and its missing part of the hang tab... the cart is 5 screw and is labelled NES-AW-USA... picked it up complete for $5 cdn at a flea a while back

Anyone found one sealed?
-Josh
I don't have one - not sure if anyone else does - haven't really discussed it. In general I think all the hangtab box versions of any game are rarer though. :) (where multiple versions exist)

okay...
Three versions of Athletic World
1st: The one pictured above (cart is 5 screw, says series 1 and comes with hangtag box. Box has a BIG picture of the Athletic World guy on it as well as some people playing on the FFF Pad.) manual says series one.
2nd: Cart is 5 screw, says series one on it. Box has NO hangtag, round seal that is grey in the middle with an outer black ring. Manual doesn't say series one, has a picture of the same guy that is on the box (some dorky looking kid in a pink shirt and white shorts, not the cartoon looking kid).
3rd: Cart is 3 screw (secruity screws), white/gold oval nintendo seal, box is the same sort of seal. cart DOES not say Family Fun Fitness on it. Manual is sorta different... not sure how, but i know it is.
-Josh
and those are the three versions.
