Considering that the 7th edition was just released in August, the 8th is still aways off.

What is MORE likely to happen first is the "Advance" edition in paper. That's the blue-cover, post 8-bit systems you see on our master lists page. There are - no exaggeration - over 20 people working on this right now.

In the meantime, the 8-bit sections continue to expand and grow, but I can't really give you an ETA right now. I think my team will crush me if I try to impose a deadline, even if it's way way off!

It's neither - more like every 18 months, but quite a few people in our core team felt that the 7th edition came TOO SOON after the 6th. The online stuff was created to bridge this gap and make everyone happy. Buy a 7th edition and we'll keep the addendum up to date so you have a "current" book at all times.

Too soon? Interesting... considering all the new sections and how some of the current ones (including mine, the C64) were drastically improved, I think it was about the right delay. Admitedly I think the gap between 7 and 8 should be bigger than 6 to 7, unless there's something huge we don't know about Joe ;)
