This includes any little intro's that may preceed them.

Sword of Vermillion (Genesis) Kickss in all ass whupin' and settles in with a nice darkly reflective vibe. Great music. Cool image.

Mortal Kombat II (arcade) - Anyone who first saw this thing at the arcade knows what I'm talking about. That low rumble with the lightning briefly illuminating the dragon symbol then... BANG... all sorts of blood soaked testosterone fueled beat downs.

Sudeki (xbox) - Average game, but that shadow puppet intro is one of the best expositiony scenes in any RPG.

Phantasy Star II (genesis) - Screen's pretty cool but sweet damn do I ever love that title music.

Magician Lord (Neo Geo AES) - b/c it looked very cool at the time with that big planet.

Wipeout 3 - b/c it just says "Title Screen"

Resident Evil, the dude running down the hall and screaming like a wussy was cool.

Super Mario 64. With an interactive title screen, you know it's sweet

Clockwork Knight 2 (One of the first games to actually change depending on the season or holiday according to your clock set)

Primal Rage (arcade) was cool, the slash and then the jungle sound effects kick in

I do agree with Mortal Kombat 2

Street Fighter 2 (World Warrior, CE, or Hyper) The two guys fighting in the street was a nice intro

Super Metroid. Seeing the victims, the glass case was broken...yeah you knew yoiu were in for a ride.

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. I just love how it stands out, but the sword on the title screen never played a major role in the game, but still cool.

I still like the opening for Road Avenger on the sga cd.
It was the first game that i played that had an actual cartoon type opening that set up the story with lyrics instead of the static screens and midi songs on a lot of the earlier carts had.

In terms of recent stuff, I think the two Otogi games have title screens that are nothing short of breathtaking.

In terms of title music, it is really hard to beat Mega Man 2.

Lunar: The Silver Star (sega CD) - Forget that shmaltzy tripe from the PS perfect collection. The Sega CD version of Lunar had THE most annoyingly catchy tune ever. That intro kicked all concievable levels of ass.

Speaking of Rambo III, the SMS Rambo III's title screen was pretty damn sweet.
The gigantic digitized Rambo and the 3 knives that flashed up on screen. Now THAT's impressive to see on an 8-bit system.

Mega Man 2 (NES): That upward scroll overlooking the city is classic.

Golgo 13 (NES): Dig the soundtrack. The eyes. The helicopter blowing up.

Ninja Gaiden (NES): I can't find my copy...was the ninja sword fight sequence pre-title screen or after starting a new game?

Vampire Saviour (CPS-2): Cool introduction of all the characters.

Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (CPS-2): The most energetic intro for this series (the entire presentation of this game has a very intense energy to it). Makes you think you are in for something really big.

My favorites were the intro from M.U.S.H.A when the mech zooms in and its eye glimmers and the title screen from Castlevania 3.

Mega Man 2, easily. The amazing theme music, combined with helmet-less Mega man's hair blowing in the wind just adds up to a masterpiece of a title screen.

There's also the subtle beauty of the Mega Man 3 title screen. There's nothing but the Mega man 3 logo with the words "press start" below it, but wait there and you'll be treated to one of the greatest pieces of 8-bit music you'll ever hear.

I also love the Jingle that plays on the title screen of all the Klonoa games. It just gets you into the right mood for playing it.

I always liked the gauntlet legends and dark legacy title screens. They have cool music and cool visuals. You know, it starts with the demons yelling sounds and Skorne being raised from this altar. Very cool stuff

Victorious Boxers, I find myself whistling this intro all the time. Christ I have an unhealthy obsession with this game.

I love the PS2 GTA intros. The Rockstar logo, the original music, perfectly fits the setting of each game.

Another vote for Street Fighter 2. And Sonic 2.

Rambo III (Genesis)

The intro of the digitized Rambo with his fire arrow and that music that played before he shot the arrow used to scare me when I was little.
