Hi. Ive recently found my old love for the 3do and have again started playing games and getting new stuff for my system.
Doing searches across the internet ive found many 3do fan sites, but ive yet to find one with an active user base.
Ive been pondering the idea of starting up a new 3do site, with a forum and other stuff such as galleries and other things exclusivly 3do.
This forum here, is where i reckon id try and see what the interest in helping me build such a site would be like.
I have a webspace of about 1,2gb which im prepared to use for this site, but i would need help from other enthusiastic 3do fans, to try and keep it alive and moving.
How many would be interested in putting a few hours away for such a project?
I have absolutely no intention of "stealing" any members from this site, but it would be fun and easier for the hardcore 3do fans to know where they could always find someone to talk to.
Please, make comments on why you voted the way you did! thank you!

that would be cool...
i recently picked up a Sanyo 3DO TRY unused stock...
and picked up a handful of JPN titles...
would be cool to discuss on 3DO as I believe it was ahead of its time...

So would you be willing to help me run this thing then? What i basically need is someone to help set up the forum, and make the homepage, as i completely suck on html etc.
Info is my strong side as i know or can gather alot of info and pictures and so forth.
On a side note, im waiting for my own Sanyo to arrive from Germany as i sit and type this :-P
edit: The Sanyo looks even better in person!

I think its a great idea, I voted that I couldn't help because of lack of talent and no time.
But a nice 3DO site with hardware details and software reviews is lacking. Most of the 3DO sites that were around 5 years ago have faded away.
I've just got done playing a couple of 3DO games that I've played on a bunch of other consoles. Lemmings and BustaMove. Lemmings was the same old stuff which is excellent but it's funny how the 3DO intro to the game is 3D but the game is just the 2D Amiga version ported over.
BustaMove was also not at all enhanced for the 3DO and it had some disk access issues that you wouldn't get on a cart system.
A few words of advice:
- You don't need to know html to get started. I got a copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver and a guide and taught myself the basics. Not the prettiest site, but functional for now. If you can get someone to do the design for you, then you're in great shape.
- A devoted fan site requires a lot of time and dedication. I've put over 400 hours into Sega-16 in the year it's been up, and see no signs of slowing down. If you're going to be doing everything yourself, expect to spend many hours in front of your PC. I don't mean to deter you though, as it is immensely rewarding to see your little site grow bit by bit.
If you can get a few people to help as either staff or contributors, it'll take a great deal of the burden off of you.
I would like to see this happen. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, i apriciate it!
But i know that unless i get help from other devoted 3do-fans it will never happen, im not prepared to do the whole thing myself, even if i could!
I want this to be a group effort, so that in the process, 3do-fans can get together and get to know eachother, we are pretty few compared to other systems, and far between.
So please keep voting people, so i can get a feel for if it would be worth it! I feel that we really DO need another 3do site, with working active forum dedicated to us, as i see threads about the 3do on different sites still being created.

believe me this is so true! I have started many fan sites in the past, and only those that I put much of my day into have ever prospered. I had once created a fan site for the game Dark Cloud, and I literaly updated the site like 3 times a day, and after the games release it was getting 1,000+ visitors a day. Not bad for a fansite hosted for free on angelfire.com
I later expanded the site into a fansite to cover RPG's, it took longer to get it started, and I knew I overwhelmed myself with work so I hired some people to help me out with news and updates. The forums grew nicely, and we had a great community, until the forum provider decided to become a spanish only forum site...which basicaly ruined our forum, and thats when the end of the site came near. All in all I ran the site for a good 2-3 years.
I have also made a paper mario fansite, which was quite popular, and still gets daily visitors.
I would give out site adresses, but the site designs are so bad and broken I would be imbarrassed :(

I think that a 3do fan site would be a great idea. It is a great system also. I remember reading about it when they were just about to release it and I thought it would be a really cool system. LOL
