My friend randomly decided he would like to burn a gamecube, so here is the footage. Its kinda long, but if you ever wanted to see what a game system looks like doused in gas and set in flames, and the aftermath, this is the video for you: (note I did not take part in this)

Umm.. yeah, so your friend is a total retard. Not because he's anti Nintendo and decided to burn up a Gamecube, but because even a used gamecube costs around 50 to 60 bucks. Nice way to waste your parents money, kid. x_x

It would be wise to ditch Beavis before you get pulled in as an accessory to arson. Better friends shouldn't be hard to find.

EDIT: And the video is 233MB? What the fuck? O_O

I can totally agree with you. I work hard to get my games and consoles, and I can't even imagine just senselessly destroying them. There is money to be had with all my extra stuff; hell, I have five bare Genesis systems but the worst I've done to them is I spraypainted one green. And you know what really pisses me off? There are kids out there who have absolutely nothing and something like a GC would make them very happy, and here's a kid who's lighting one up. It's stupid and selfish. Wave a $50 bill in the retard's face and see how willing he is to burn THAT. Sheesh.

well to reduce hatred he and his friend bought it for $20 because it was broken.

Being the Nintendo fanboy (50 carts away from a complete US 8-bit collection) this may sound off, but I think people are overreacting. If it was already broken, and they spent $20 on it just to burn it, that's their prerogative. If you honestly think they'd fix a $20 machine when you can buy ones new or used for under $100, you're crazy - the parts and labor would cost more. So let them have their cheap thrill for 20 bucks.

Notice how he wrote that after everyone already responded. How the hell are we supposed to know he bought a broken Gamecube for 20 dollars? It's not like I can read this kids mind. Whatever.. it's still dumb if you ask me. I'd rather spend the money on food, videogames, music, ect. then destory a broken system. Call me crazy.

So would I. I don't have the lust to buy things just to burn them, that's not my cup of joe. I'd spend that $20 to add four more NES games to my collection from a pawn or thrift, or even just on four good titles I could use as tradebait. Burning my money isn't my thing, but some people get off on it, more power to 'em.

Well I still dont see the big deal, even if it was working. Hell people waste money on drugs to destroy their lives, I dont see whats wrong with spending money on something that ammuses you and makes you laugh.

It looked cool, but I wouldn't do it... I think thats what everybody should say.
Thats what I would say.

I don't see what the big deal is here. People waste money all the time on usensless things (good point on the drugs PDorr3). Would I ever waste money on a broken system just to burn it up? No. But I would waste money on a 6-pack to get shit-faced, only to have all the alcohol expelled out of my system in a matter of hours through the liver and urination. Okay, bad example, but I think I got my opinion across.

Some people just have nothing better to do. I have plenty of broken consoles, and I would never burn one, just for the hell of it. Just plain dumb - in my opinion.... :hmm:

Don't we have another thread going on about that topic right now as a matter of fact?

And really, there are much worse things that they could've done. For some reason, burning stuff always gets great attention. Haven't we all see computers thrown out of buildings and stuff.

This guy is probably well on his way to a Slashdotting ;)

LOL LOL LOL

but seriously guys, dont take it too seriously, hes not a collector like we are, so I'm sure it didnt bother him too much burning it, but even in my eyes, a broken gamecube is still worth a spot in my collection LOL

It would have been nice to burn it with some sort of purpose. Ie get it running and see how long u could play it for when it was on fire. I like those how much punishment can a system take things. But burning it for no reason is pretty retarded.

Also why is it so big? thats the worst part of the whole thing. Can some one with half an ounce of sence 2mb wmv it?

It's not like we accomplish anything more significant by playing a GameCube as this guy does burning it.

To take it in the completely opposite extreme direction, for the sake of putting a different spin on it: perhaps this action was performed out of respect? Isn't ceremonial cremation a high form of last rites in some cultures? Would it have been more respectful to just throw it out? More respectful to turn it into a fish bowl?

Personally, I can't fathom wasting the time doing this. I'd rather be inside playing with one that works than wasting time burning a broken one for shits and giggles. To each their own, I guess. If anyone wants to say "get a life" to this guy, you should be able to prove you actually have one yourself.

You mean like in that movie the 13th Warrior with Antonio Bandares where they burn the viking kings on the boat?
